PhD IN

THE ENVIRONMENT

INTRODUCTION

The Universidad San Jorge through the Institute of the Environment

linked to the Faculty of Health Sciences offers future postgraduates a comprehensive proposal to different disciplines for research into all environmental areas: methodological, technological and management, which includes the identification, control and prevention of environmen-tal impacts generated on water, soil, air, health and living things. We have lines of research on the detection, evaluation and control of local pollution as well as the study of global impacts such as climate change. Process optimisation and economic activities through the study of Life Cycle Analysis and environmental costs and energy efficiency are our research objectives in the proposed transfer to companies.

We innovate in order to anticipate the needs of the company with regard to environmental issues and we strive to achieve sustainability.

This work has resulted in the Department of Science and Technology and University of the Government of Aragon

Objectives

As part of the research in the environment developed by Universidad San Jorge and with the aim of training leading researchers in the field of environmental sustainability, we present an Official PhD Programme in the Environment according to RD 99/2011 which enables a holistic research from all aspects of the environment.

Our goal is to train researchers with competencies, skills and attitudes that foster the academic and professional knowledge, technological and social progress and environmental sustainability to meet the new challenges we face in this century.

Our associates

Given the variety of environmental issues that will be addressed, Universidad San Jorge has key associates that add value to the doctoral proposal by:

• Extending lines of research.

• New infrastructures and equipment. • Internationalisation.

• Co-supervision of PhD theses.

• Participation in the Academic Committee of the PhD Programme. Below are the associations that will collaborate with the PhD Programme: 1.

PhD Programme adapted

for students and

professionals

In order to respond to the training needs of research in the PhD Programme in Environment, there is a flexible approach from the point of view of dedication and the selection of topics:

• The PhD Programme accommodates recently qualified full-time students as well as part-time professionals.

• For those PhD students with professional experience who wish to deepen their knowledge on a research level of their areas of expertise and obtain the title of Doctor, the programme can cover topics linked to the reality of their business or professional activity.

• From day one, PhD students join the research teams that support the programme and get involved in the research dynamics of the teams: meetings, conferences, research planning, specialisation courses in techniques and methodology ... in order to acquire a profile of research in all its aspects. • Possibility of visiting our European partners and other international centres

to obtain the International PhD.

• Possibility of contacting companies linked through the University Chairs and selection of research topics applied to the reality of the business network.
