ABOUT

MARRAKESH

Welcome to Marrakesh

One of Morocco’s most important cultural centres, Marrakech’s ochre-coloured ramparts stand out against a permanently blue sky and the snowy Atlas Mountains. Discover an extraordinary world where there is plenty to see, including palaces, souks (markets), museums and gardens.

Arrival

Marrakesh Menara international airport connects with many major cities worldwide. It is 10 km southwest of the citycentre, approximately 20 minutes drive from the PAIRS Workshop 2015 venue.

Visa

Those travelling from EU countries, North America, Australasia, and many African, Asian and non-EU European countries, will not need to obtain a visa in advance to enter Morocco. However, delegates should check arrangements for their own country well in advance of travelling.

Temperature

The temperature in Marrakech in October is between 30 ° C and 40°C. Time Zone

Morocco time zone is GMT+1 Currency

ATMs are a little difficult to locate within Marrakech’s ancient medina, and the ones that can be found (usually around Jemaa el-Fna, the main square) often don’t accept foreign cards. Many restaurants accept credit cards, but in the souks it’s imperative to pay with cash, mostly in the Moroccan currency (Dirham).
