Fifth Sunday of Easter
Companioning others is part of being a
disciple. In our first reading, we hear that Saul,
having encountered Christ, is companioned b
Barnabas to meet with he disciples in Jerusalem.
In the gospel, Jesus assures us that he is guiding
and companioning us. “Whoever remains in me
and I in him will bear much fruit, because
with-out you me you can do nothing.” With Christ,
we have the ability to be his disciples. During
Easter season, we have many examples of
disci-ples accompanied by Christ doing the work of
evangelization. Whom Christ be inviting you to
companion on their faith journey? What is
hold-ing you back?

Today’s Liturgy
Reflection Gospel Jn 15 1-8 “The Vine and the Branches” This reading is very powerful and teaches us how to bear fruit. We can only give what we have inside. We can only bear fruit if we walk with Jesus. To live the way Jesus wants us, is not easy but when we really understand who he is, and what is our purpose then we can become one with him and in him. When we keep his words and his commandments in our hearts, we live better and healthy lifestyles.
This passage reminds me of one of my own personal experi-ences with God when I was 27 years old. It was one of the happiest days of my life and I treasured it forever in my heart. I have learned throughout my journey that the key to an effective Christian living and powerful fruit producing lives is not how much I read the bible, or how long I pray, or what church I go to, the key to being used by our God is abiding in Christ. For me, the most important thing that ful-fills my heat and my soul is to be able to say yes to the Lord and live a life of service. Helping people with anything that I can, to feed the hungry, to pray for someone, to call some-one that feels lsome-onely, or just to bring joy and happiness to a child in need. That to me is the fruit that God wants from me.
Let’s ask God the grace of knowing exactly what our pur-pose in this world is, and to know how can we serve him, how can we help the ones in need, how can we be better each and everyday becoming one with God. Let us get out of our comfort zone and try to say hi to someone we don’t know or bring hope to someone that is feeling sad or hope-less. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
Daiana Soto Guzman.

Volunteers Needed
In order to worship in a safe way, we need everyone’s help. You may have noticed that it takes many of us these days to gather as a community. We have ushers, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, parking lot attendants, screeners at the door etc. As our numbers increase, we will likely need to add on another mass. This means that we need more help from volunteers. If you are willing to assist, please go to the parish website at https://www.sh-roslindale.org/ and select the tab for Volunteers Needed for Mass. This will bring you to a google form where you can tell us your availability and preference on the ways you are comfortable participating. Please reach out to Caitlin Erwin at [email protected] any ques-tions.

Sacred Heart Health Ministry needs your
assistance with making prayer shawls.
What is a prayer shawl?
“
The makers of these special, hand –knit or crochet
shawls pray before the shawl is made, pray while
work-ing on the shawl, and pray after it is finished. When
completed, the shawl is given to someone experiencing a
particularly difficult time and in need of prayer. Shawl
may to to someone suffering from a serious illness or to
one who has perhaps experienced a grievous loss.
Pray-ers that accompany the shawls ask God to help renew
the body as well as the spirit. They ask him to restore
the recipient to hope, strength, and healing.”

Prayer of Spiritual Communion
No particular prayer or formulary is required, though there are acts of spiritual communion in Catholic prayer books to help focus a proper intention. One of the most popular is that composed by St. Alphonsus Liguori:
“My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the
Blessed Sacrament.
I love you above all things and I desire you with all
my heart.
Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally,
I ask you to come spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you as if you were already in my heart
and unite me to you completely.
