WORLD’S POOR AND HOME MISSIONS - OUR OWN NEEDS COMBINED DIOCESE COLLECTIONS

NOVEMBER 7TH AND 8TH

The pandemic has delayed some Diocesan collections this past year and as a result the Diocese has scheduled and combined collections for the World’s Poor and Home Missions - Our Own Needs on the weekend of November 7th and 8th.

The World’s Poor collection combines an appeal for four Catholic agencies who serve the poor all over the world. This collection includes Peter’s Pence, Catholic Relief Services, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, and the Pastoral Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa. In this collection you have a choice to contribute to any one or all four funds.

Home Missions - Our Own Needs strengthens the church at home with four major beneficiaries in this collection: The Catholic Communications Campaign, Black and Indian Missions, The Catholic University of America, The Catholic Home Missions.

You may support these collections through donations and prayer so that the Church can continue its important work here in the diocese and throughout our country and world. Envelopes are provided for both the World’s Poor and Home Missions - Our Own Needs collections in the entrances. Please drop your envelopes in the weekend collection, mail to your parish or use drop boxes at your parish office. Thank you for your support and prayers!!

LIVING OUR FAITH

November 1st, Thirty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time

3

This week we’ll finish our walk through “The Order of Mass.” We resume with the Prayer after Communion, and then finish with The Concluding Rites.

4. The Communion Rite. (continuing from last week) f. Prayer after Communion.

We stand for this prayer and for the rest of the Mass. This prayer changes each week and is based on the week in the liturgical calendar. (missalette pages 101-104) This

weekend, November 1st, is found on page 104. You’ll see that on November 1st it is also All Saints Day. *Praise: We adore God who alone is holy in all his Saints.

*Petition: We implore God’s grace; and that we may pass from this pilgrim table to the banquet of our heavenly homeland. The Concluding Rites

1. Greeting. The Priest says, “The Lord be with you.” and we respond, “And with your spirit.” (page 105) 2. Final Blessing. The Priest

blesses us, and we sign ourselves with the Sign of the Cross. (page 105) 3. Dismissal. Using one of

several options, the

Deacon or Priest invites all to go in the peace of Christ.

We respond, Thanks be to God.” We are sent, to take Jesus who we have just

received, out into the world; to give witness of our faith and to love and serve others. (pages 105-106)

4. Recessional: A recessional song is sung.

Summary of the Mass - The Introductory Rites

prepares us to hear the Word. - The Liturgy of the Word

proclaims the Word of God to us.

- The Liturgy of the Eucharist offers many prayers to God, and through the Holy Spirit the bread and wine are transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ, whom we receive (transforming us) in Communion.

- The Concluding Rites sends us out with Jesus in us to be witnesses in the world.

I hope this walk through the Mass has provided you some new ways of thinking about the liturgy, and that it will help you participate more actively at Mass.

Catholics have worshipped God this way for a very long time. Next week I will share with you just how long the core elements of our Sunday worship have been practiced. You might be surprised! Have a good week!

Deacon Tim

MEMORIAL MASSES CANCELLED

ALL SAINTS DAY CELEBRATED

It has been our tradition for several years to celebrate Memorial Masses on the Feast Day, “Solemnity of All Saints” remembering the deceased who have had a funeral mass at a Tri-Parish church site or service outside of church in a funeral home setting, in which Fr. Mike or Diane Wickersheim, Pastoral Associate presided. This year with Covid-19 and the spike in the virus within our area, the decision was made to not hold the remembrance masses.

A memorial banner will be on display at all Tri-Parish church sites with pictures of loved ones that have passed since the last remembrance through October 23rd of this year.

Pictured are: Ronald Alger, Nancy Diedrich, Francis (Fran) Dietzen, Thomas (Tom) Dollevoet, Donald (Don) Ecker, Lorraine Fochs, Gordon (Gordy) Hauser, Peggy Hemauer, Beatrice Hoelzel, Colleen Hoerth, Leonard Joas, Leonard Juckem, Anthony (Tony) Kesler, Paul Koehler, Lyle Levknecht, Charles Lindberg, Timothy (Tim) Nadler, Shirley Nettekoven, Charles (Charlie) Propson, Steven Propson, Dennis Redman, Gilbert (Gib) Schoen, JoAnn Schumacher, James (Jim) Thiel, Paul Weis, Lawrence (Larry) Wieseckel, Les Willems, George Wittmann, Harold Woelfel, Harvey Zahringer, and Richard Zahringer.

Anyone with questions, please contact Cynthia at the Sherwood parish office (989-1515).

“BREAD FOR LIFE” HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER

The annual St. Mary Help of Christians “Bread for Life” holiday fundraiser will run from November 1st through November 30th. This year the collection will be monetary donations only. Place donation in any envelope, mark “Bread for Life” and drop in the Sunday collection basket, the Parish office or the Parish office drop box at St. Mary, Hilbert. All proceeds will be used to purchase scrip which will be donated to Bread for Life in Chilton and will be used to help families in need in Calumet County. Thank you for your generosity. Any questions can be directed to Anita Harder or to the St. Mary, Hilbert Parish office. God bless!!!

SUPPORT GROUP FOR CAREGIVERS OF

ALZHEIMER’S AND DEMENTIA PATIENTS

A local support group has just begun in the local area for those who are caregivers for Alzheimer’s or dementia patients. All sessions are currently virtual to offer support. If you are a caregiver or know of someone who could use this service, please go to FaceBook and type in “Greater Chilton Area Alzheimer’s/Dementia Caregivers Support Group” to join.

This is a private group, so only those in the group can communicate with each other. Any further questions can be emailed to: gmamort@gmail.com. God bless all those who care for others.

THANKSGIVING FOOD DONATIONS NEEDED

Help us help others in need. Inside the entrances of each Tri-Parish church there will be bins to place dona-tions that will be locally distributed to those who are homebound and in need.

Non-perishable items we are looking for are: canned cranberries, canned green beans, boxed stuffing and box potatoes.

Perishables that are accepted: garden potatoes, squash, pumpkin pie, or a crust, and cans of pie filling.

Your contribution to making these Thanksgiving Food Boxes from the Tri-Parish Catholic Faith Communities, will surely brighten someone’s holiday!

We will run this food collection until Sunday, November 22nd.

Contact Candace Gehl with any questions at 920.470.1239.
