New Features

The following features are introduced in the SonicWALL CDP 3.0 release:

• Box-to-Box Backup and Recovery - The CDP box to box feature provides a secure, reliable, and confidential method of backing up and recovering data from one or more local CDP appliances to one or more offsite CDP appliances. Using CDP appliances as an offsite backup method provides an additional layer of protection against data loss in the event of a disaster. In a typical one to one configuration of CDP box to box, one local CDP appliance, or downstream appliance, is used to backup local workstations. A second CDP appliance, or upstream appliance, is deployed at a remote location and configured as the offsite backup destination for the downstream CDP appliance.

• Disaster Restore – The CDP Enterprise Manager includes a new, easy-to-use Restore from Offsite Location option under the Tools menu that provides the ability to restore data from the SonicWALL Offsite Portal or a backup SonicWALL CDP appliance.

Known Issues

This section contains a list of known issues for the SonicWALL CDP 3.0 release.

• 47563: Symptom: Subfolders not displaying offsite sign when root folder is marked for offsite. Condition: Occurs when a root folder is marked for offsite backup. Any time you mark root folder for back up, the offsite folder does not display this.

• 46528: Symptom: Alert email reaches email server, but does not get queued. Condition: Occurs when the destination email server does not accept mail relay.

• 44944: Symptom: In the CDP management interface, the Network > Connectivity page is not localized into any language other than English. Condition: Occurs when using the management interface of your CDP appliance.

• 41027: Symptom: The SonicWALL CDP Enterprise Manager continues to backup a file after the Purge Backup Data button on the System > Purge Data page. Condition: Occurs when the SonicWALL CDP Enterprise Manager is in the process of backing up a file, and the user clicks the Purge Backup Data button. Workaround: Wait until the SonicWALL CDP Enterprise Manager has completed backing up any files before clicking the Purge Backup Data button.

• 40995: Symptom: Performance of the SonicWALL Global Management System (GMS) Summarizer is degraded when it is run concurrently with the SonicWALL CDP Agent Tool, and the GMS connection may be blocked. Condition: Occurs when the SonicWALL CDP Agent Tool is run concurrently with the

SonicWALL GMS Summarizer. Workaround: Either disable the SonicWALL CDP Agent Tool while running the SonicWALL GMS Summarizer, or do not backup the SGMDDB database. If you must backup the SGMDDB database, configure it for differential backup with the frequency set to one time per day. • 49116: Symptom: After downstream agent is removed from upstream appliance in a box-to-box

configuration, it reappears as a regular agent and loses its owner records and cannot restore data.

Condition: Occurs in a box-to-box configuration such as A->B, where A is the downstream appliance and B is upstream appliance.

• 49094: Symptom: Box-to-box functionality causes an error when too many CDP appliances are set up in series. Condition: Occurs when more than two CDP appliances are set up in series, such as: Box A > Box B > Box C > Portal, and a local agent is added to Box A.

• 49088: Symptom: In a box-to-box configuration, the Enterprise Manager user interface can become unresponsive. Condition: Occurs occasionally when an offsite location is changed from a SonicWALL portal to an IP destination and then back to a SonicWALL portal.

• 48890: Symptom: In a box-to-box configuration, resetting the client security handshake on downstream appliance does not update it on the upstream appliance and portal. Condition: Occurs when the owner authentication key is reset for the local agent on the downstream appliance, but the upstream appliance (the parent) is not updated, nor is the portal. This can occur in a box-to-box configuration such as

A>B>portal, where A is the downstream appliance and B is the parent / upstream appliance. Workaround: In the Enterprise Manager, click the Reset Authentication button for every agent that has received a new authentication key.

• 48780: Symptom: The appliance does not function correctly in a circular box-to-box configuration.

Resolved Known Issues

This section contains a list of resolved known issues for the SonicWALL CDP Software Tools 3.0 release. • 48082: Symptom: The CDP appliance becomes unresponsive when the data partition of the hard drives

gets too full.

• 46374: Symptom: Search results are out of sync after sorting by columns. Condition: Occurs when a user tries to sort files and there are inconsistencies in the sorted information. When you click on a file after sorting the incorrect file, information is displayed in the status below. And if you go to restore a file you will be restoring a different file than the one that is displayed in the search results.
