Storage Assurance Audit Services
OVERVIEW
From backup and recovery to capacity planning, when it comes to storage management, we've got you covered. The Storage Assurance Audit Services includes proprietary technology, which provides a "single pane of glass" through which you can view and manage your entire storage and backup infrastructure.
Customers can choose between a onetime 30 day service or as a monthly audit for 1, 2 or 3 year terms.
For customers that opt for the yearly audit, OnX will on a monthly and quarterly basis, provide detailed reports on our activities, so you remain completely aware of what is happening with your environment. OnX gives you 24x7 access to our secure customer portal to view highly customizable reports that detail the health and reliability of your
environment, as well as highlight key performance metrics. Each quarter our team will meet with you to review results, make necessary adjustments to policies and procedures, and assess any issues.
Data collection is performed by installing proprietary agent-less software on a customer provided server eliminating the need to install software on each individual piece of equipment.
AUDITS
Audit Type Definition Benefits Backup Manager Managing a complex enterprise-wide
backup infrastructure can be a daunting task requiring countless hours gathering information and poring over logs and spreadsheets.
The Backup Manager Service simplifies and centralizes this task giving you “real time” management and control of your storage environment, while dramatically reducing the time and effort otherwise required. The unique browser-based console lets you access your backup and recovery data at any time, from any location using any browser.
Reduced cost of data management
Anytime access to the details of your storage environment
Powerful graphics-based dashboard provides critical, at-a-glance analytics
Diagnose problems at the root level, isolating problem files
Ensures higher rate of backup and recovery success across your entire storage infrastructure
Audit Type Definition Benefits Capacity Manager The Capacity Manager Service helps you
maximize utilization of your existing software without sacrificing performance. The agent-less audit gives you a 360° view of your total storage capacity, accurately pinpointing allocation and consumption across your organization.
Enables IT to maximize storage capacity
Delays need to purchase additional storage
Reports on individual host allocation and consumption
Forecasts future storage requirements from each host
Alerts IT administrators to hot spots and areas requiring additional storage
Illuminates "over-provision" of storage for data-rich applications
Customizable reports
Accurate reporting yields accurate chargeback
File Analytics Managing enterprise data is a critical and monumental task. Unstructured data, often found in emails, documents and digital media, further fuels the fire as IT managers are left struggling to discern which files are critical to the enterprise, duplicates, stale, or worse yet,
inappropriate and non-compliant. The File Analytics service manages your vast repository of data, helping you reduce storage costs along with corporate risk.
Using proprietary agent-less data collection technology, File Analytics software gleans information from the file systems deployed within complex
heterogeneous environments, storing it in a purpose-built database. The result: complete visibility into the billions of files within your organization. Reports indicate inappropriate data use, assist with legal and regulatory compliance and identify duplicate and obsolete data for improved storage tiering.
Vendor-independent, proprietary technology provides an end-to-end view of your entire storage environment
Optimizes data center file management reducing total cost of ownership (TCO)
Reduces IT hours required to manage data
Reclaims valuable storage, maximizing existing investment
Informs purchasing decisions, helping IT manage tight budgets
Aggregates, analyzes and appropriates files based on corporate policies
Audit Type Definition Benefits Virtualization Manager The Virtualization Manager service puts
the spotlight on your entire virtual IT environment, enabling you to plan, manage and optimize your virtual storage requirements.
The proprietary technology provides a clear window into your existing physical and virtual storage infrastructure,
ensuring that you will be well equipped to improve the efficiency and ROI of current and future storage resources.
View entire virtual storage environment vis-a-vis physical storage resources
Tunes each virtual machine for optimal performance
Maximizes use of existing equipment that supports virtual environments
Illuminates actual usage vs. allocation of virtual storage
Shines spotlight on resource utilization
Provides chargeback reports based on actual usage

Fabric Manager Got a complex, unwieldy SAN environment? We can help.
The Fabric Manager service lets you visualize your entire SAN topology so that you can proactively manage and control the very “fabric” of your storage infrastructure.
Our proprietary technology gives you clear insight into your SAN configuration, providing you with a “host-to-storage” interactive dashboard that lets you optimize your storage resources by identifying bottlenecks, alerting you to hot spots and clearly delineating storage pathways.
Change-management tools survey storage infrastructure
Alert IT to critical changes
Provide trend analysis with cause and effect results
Visibility into all SAN components including routing paths, switch configurations and connectivity
Graphical representation of SAN from virtual and physical servers to storage system
Captures key performance metrics and details in reports
Audit Type Definition Benefits Replication Manager The protection of mission critical data is,
well, mission critical. We know that you are often faced with the precarious balancing act of ensuring that compliance policies and service-level agreements are met while managing tight budgets. Fortunately the Replication Manager service can help you improve the overall performance of your business continuity environment while streamlining costs.
Measures compliance with policy to replication comparisons
Provides “real-time” alerts should replication fall outside established policies
Gives you real insight into the storage required for snapshot and mirrored volumes while reporting wasted capacity
Drill-down data lets you allocate the true costs of data protection as appropriate
Helps you maximize existing resources with improved replication policies and performance
ONX APPROACH
OnX utilizes a five (5) phase methodology for Storage Assurance Audits that includes: 1. Site survey and data collection planning
2. Software deployment and data collection 3. Status check and provisioning of reporting portal 4. Evaluation of key areas of the environment
5. Findings and recommendations reporting/presentation
Phase 1: Site Survey and Data Collection planning
An OnX consultant will work with the customer to complete a Customer Site Survey form to identify pertinent information about the target environment. This information includes:
o Current environment configuration information
o Identifying the target storage resources for the assessment
o If some or all of this information has been provided already, this will be a process of confirmation and expansion
Phase 2: Software deployment and data collection
Deploy the data collection software based on the information in the Customer Site Survey
Configure system settings and schedule the initial data collection process to run.
Create data and storage groups based on the information in the Customer Site Survey, up to the agreed number of groups
Phase 3: Status check and provisioning of reporting portal
Provision the customer reporting portal
Phase 4: Evaluation of key areas of the environment
Review and evaluate report output extrapolating key data for comparison with customer defined business metrics and requirement
Develop a GAP analysis to assist in the formulation of remediation guidance focused on improving health of the environment
Phase 5: Findings and recommendations reporting/presentation
Gather and remove data from customer reporting portal for analysis and packaging.
Create an executive report of findings and recommendations based on industry best practices and customer requirements.
o The report may include cost estimates for remediation as well as the continued access to the Assurance Monitoring service and reporting portal
