Roane State Community College
Associate of Applied Science Nursing Program (A.A.S.)
Admission Packet
The Nursing program is a course of study leading to an Associate of Applied Science Degree. The program has full approval by the Tennessee Board of Nursing and accreditation by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
The Nursing courses at RSCC are offered over 4 semesters. In addition to the nursing courses there are 27 credit hours of general education requirements for completion of the degree. You must have 12 credits of the 27 credit hours, with the math requirement as part of the 12 hours, completed prior to the application deadline. Since Nursing students spend a significant amount of time outside of class in study and laboratory practice, completion of the general education requirements is recommended prior to beginning the nursing program.

This exam is given at the Roane County and Oak Ridge campuses during the months of: October, November, and February. The cost of the test is $29. General Education Requirements
The 27 credit hours of general education requirements for the nursing program may be completed at any Roane State campus except for the Knox County Center for Health Sciences. Students may take the required general education courses at any pace prior to acceptance into the program. Nursing courses can only be taken by those officially accepted into the program and must be taken in the order they are offered. Background checks and drug screens must be acceptable to clinical affiliates in order for students to attend clinicals and meet the requirements of the program.
