Power

With data centre power usage rapidly increasing, the availability of power is a growing priority for many companies. The SimSafe hosting environment deliver expertise in all areas of power delivery and management.

Our data centres offer:

High power availability with N+ 1 backup generator and 2N UPS to ensure maximum availability. Most data centres also have redundant grid connections.

4

Cooling for optimum performance

All equipment is maintained and monitored in a climate-controlled environment.

The average room temperature is controlled at 24°C ± 5° and a humidity level of 50% ± 10%. Multiple air conditioning units provide redundant capacity.

SLAs on temperature and humidity in line with ASHRAE recommendations, and the whole facility is monitored 24/7.

Multiple layers of security

Data centres are typically designed with five layers of physical security. They are effectively buildings within buildings.

Features to protect your equipment and data include:

1. Trained security staff on site 24/7 and premises are monitored by video surveillance cameras. 2. All building areas are secured by an alarm system.

3. No one enters or leaves without proof of identity and all visitors are checked against customer-defined access lists.

6

Energy efficiency

Our data centre host is committed to the use of sustainable energy such as free cooling, ground water cooling and waste heat re-use.

For energy-efficient cooling, our data centres provide a climate control system N+1 configuration as minimum, roof N+1 chillers and free air cooling, 2N chilled-water distribution system, and customer CRAC units in N+1.

Continuous monitoring of our environments help to improve efficiency.

Phased modular architecture to optimise power usage effectiveness, and operate to the highest energy efficiency standards.

Sustainable Energy

Approximately 75% of power comes from sustainable sources, including water, sun and wind.

Water detection

Water detection systems are installed in all areas that may be susceptible to a leak. Alarms are relayed directly to our European Customer Service Centre.

Fire detection and suppression

As a first line of defence against fire, all of data centres are equipped with Very Early Smoke Detection Aspiration system (VESDA).

In case the VESDA system generates an alarm the facility team investigates the nature of the alarm and where needed take action with a handheld CO2 extinguisher.

In case of a rapid increasing smoke or fire; the data centres are equipped with a double knock smoke detection system that triggers the automatic gas-based fire suppression systems (INERGEN System). Argon, FM-200 is used across our facilities based on top of the standard local fire regulations.

Cabling for power and data

Power cabling is laid under raised anti-static computer flooring.

Data cabling is usually in trays overhead, but can also be laid underfloor. In either case data cabling is always separated from power cabling.

Building management and monitoring

All data centre-related equipment, such as cooling equipment, electrical systems and fire control systems, is monitored around the clock.

9

Carrier-neutral

Global Tier 1, regional Tier 2 and national Tier 3 networks with direct access to the backbone infrastructure and Point of Presence for more than 400 carriers.

Entirely independent of any network provider. This means the widest choice of fixed and mobile carriers, ISPs, Internet exchanges, content distribution networks (CDNs) and others, all competing to deliver the best connectivity performance, service and price for their applications and content.

Because the providers already have their physical infrastructure in the data centres, it's quick and easy to access their services.
