Our natal chart is very much like a snapshot of the sky at the moment we took our first breath. We carry our natal chart with us through the entire course of our lives, even though the planets and luminaries continue their movement and cycles.
However, as the planets and points move ahead, they form special relationships to the planets and points in our individual natal charts.
So, for example, if my Sun in my natal chart is at 25 degrees Virgo, and Saturn is
moving towards that same degree of Gemini (25 degrees of Gemini), Saturn is said to be transiting square my natal Sun. Similarly, if Saturn is in 25 degrees Gemini, I can look in my natal chart to see where Saturn would fall in terms of house position. If that position is found in my 3rd house, then I would know that Saturn is transiting through my 3rd house.
It is not our aim here to offer tutorials on the technical aspects of transits. We will
assume a basic knowledge of the technique so that we can move ahead to interpretation of transits.
Transits act to stimulate what is already there! In other words, they highlight and trigger parts of our own psychological make-up.

With transits, it is generally best to first look at the outer planet (slower-moving) transits and cycles in order to get an overview and a real context before refining our predictions with inner planet cycles and transits. Here are some general guidelines:
1. Determine "where a person is at" in an overall achievement sense by looking to where transiting Saturn is by house. Read more about Saturn Transiting Through the Houses.
2. Note whether transiting Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto are making major aspects to the individual's natal Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Ascendant, or
Midheaven.
3. Determine Saturn's transits by aspect to natal planets. Read more about Saturn Transits.
4. Look to the Jupiter cycle—where is transiting Jupiter by house, and what aspects does it make to natal planets?
Outer planet transits affect us in large chunks—they can be active before the transit is exact by aspect, but we have seen the following: Many times an outer planet transits our natal point once by direct motion, moves forward and then retrogrades back over that point, only to turn direct again and pass that same natal point for the final time in that cycle. Generally, the seeds of the transit are being sown in the first part of this cycle (when the transiting planet first "hits" our natal point), and the "problem" or crisis reaches a head during the middle part of this cycle (when the transiting planet retrogrades back over the point). Finally, the situation is resolved around the time the transiting planet moves over our natal point for the final time in the cycle. Note: we often "see" or "feel" some sense of imminent resolution when the transiting planet goes direct after its retrograde period, before it passes again over our transited point. If our experience of the transit has been a crisis, then we feel marked release at this point. This is likely because a planet going direct after a period of retrogradation is symbolic, in general, of resolve.

1. When transiting Moon conjuncts the natal Sun (monthly): These days are considered "power days".
2. The 2-Year Mars Cycle -- Energy/Boredom Cycle. When transiting Mars nears the sign of your natal Mars, your personal energy increases. Energy wanes as Mars moves away from the sign of your natal Mars and is at its lowest when it transits the opposing sign. For example, if your Mars is in Sagittarius, as
transiting Mars moves from Gemini through to Sagittarius, your personal energy increases until it reaches a peak at Sagittarius. When Mars transits the signs following Sagittarius, personal energy decreases until it reaches a low when Mars is in Gemini.
3. When the New Moon contacts a natal planet or point: This suggests a renewed focus in that area of life for a period of approximately one month. If, for example, the New Moon conjuncts our natal Venus, we will experience a "fresh start" and a new perspective in Venus matters (such as love and money).

Although there are many more recognized aspects, we will discuss the general significance of the major aspects here.
A transiting conjunction (0 degrees) has an intense, focused nature. It can be dramatic or flowing, depending on the nature of the planets involved, as well as the compatibility of the planets involved.
A transiting square (90 degrees) sets up a challenge. The way one has been living life is challenged or tested. Resistance comes from within and/or from outside influences or circumstances. Action is necessary.
A transiting trine (120 degrees) creates a flowing dynamic in which creative opportunities to grow and expand are present. With an absence of challenge or confrontation, it may pass largely unnoticed (or appreciated).
A transiting opposition (180 degrees) involves a conflict between oneself and another, and/or between one's inner world and the outside world.

Transiting Jupiter is an influence that acts to expand and enlarge one's world, including one's inner world. Jupiter transits allow growth and expansion of
consciousness involving the conditions and natures of the houses and planets involved. One's confidence and level of joy is increased in these areas of life, and the native will feel motivated to improve or gain in these areas. These are times in our lives when we feel a little more free and confident, and are not as aware of restraints. Problems arise when we overdo, and are so confident that we ignore reality and don't think of
consequences. However, just as we need Saturn to remind us that we need to buckle down, we also need Jupiter to remind us that we won't get very far if we don't believe in ourselves.

Aries: Jupiter in the 9th house from natal moon will cause: Gain of money, house, good food, authority, prosperity and relations with women.
Taurus: Jupiter in the 8th house from natal moon will cause: Fear from thieves fire and officials, loss of vitality, anger, futile journeys and work, loss of money.
Gemini: Jupiter in the 7th house from natal moon will cause: Good health, favors of officials, gain of money, all round prosperity, favorable journeys, gain of children, and company of good women.
Cancer: Jupiter in the 6th house from natal moon will cause: Quarrels with wife children and relatives, fear from thieves and officials, ill health, futile work and fear.
Leo: Jupiter in the 5th house from natal moon will cause: Gain of money, wealth, children and friends, favors from officials, destruction of enemies, auspicious deeds, company of good people
Virgo: Jupiter in the 4th house from natal moon will cause: Loss of money, power and fame, insults, begging or dependence on others, danger from animals, will be cheated.

Pisces: Jupiter in the 10th house from natal moon will cause: Loss of money, house, authority, health, well-wishers, children and food grains, futile journeys, and fear.

Jupiter takes approximately 12 years to come full circle. Because Jupiter retrogrades and due to the fact that houses are not always equal in size, the time it takes for Jupiter to transit through a house varies. On average, however, Jupiter takes about one year in each house of the horoscope.
Jupiter transits perhaps receive more positive press than they deserve, as those of us who have waited for Jupiter to transit conjunct our Sun can attest. Why? Because if we wait for Jupiter to bestow us with wonderful gifts, we are sure to be disappointed. What Jupiter does do is infuse us with the license to dream, to hope, and to feel good about ourselves.

At the beginning of its transit through the first house, Jupiter is conjunct your Ascendant, marking a time of much optimism and cheerfulness. Throughout its journey through the first house, Jupiter's transit brings noticeable improvements to your environment as well as self-confidence to your personality. You are more obviously expansive, exuberant, and enthusiastic. This transit heightens your optimism and increases your generosity. This cycle has the potential for being a relaxed, fortunate, and hopeful time. You are greeting life with a fresh, can-do attitude. What happened in the past is not very important to you now--it's the future that you're eyeing now. You are filled with faith in the universe--faith that everything will work out. This is an excellent period for self-improvement. Dealings with the public are favored, and others tend to look at you as a leader. Events occur that help you overcome problems that previously seemed challenging or even insurmountable--you have an altogether different perspective on life now, and are not inclined much to sweat the small stuff. You want to create a distinct first impression on others, and you tend to do just that. Furthering your personal ambitions and interests comes more easily during this cycle. At times, you may feel like the sky is the limit! You feel considerably more free to be yourself, and others tend to accept you more readily. You might need to guard against becoming too full of yourself or overly self-interested, however. There is also a risk of overindulgence and other forms of extreme behavior. Weight gain is often associated with this transit. Be careful that a carefree attitude doesn't end up a careless one. Expectations of receiving one's fair share come now, and this tends to attract abundance and favors. This is a good time to go for a raise, apply for a loan, or take part in various dealings with financial institutions. You may need to curb an inclination to overspend--feeling good could bring you to the stores as you temporarily forget about the future! Particularly if Jupiter trines planets in the sixth and/or tenth houses, this is also a very favorable period for success in the work you do.

You are able to understand complex subjects and explain them in such a way that others can readily understand; thus, teaching or authoring may be prosperous now. This might be a good time to take a course due to the fact that you are more receptive to learning and expanding your knowledge and skills.
