TRANSITION
The National Board of ELSA Spain for 2014/2015 was elected at the NCM in Madrid, in spring. We started our term the first of August; however, it was impossible to meet both Boards together in the same place at the same time since more than half of the members were out of the country the whole summer. We decided to have separate and individual transitions, and mine turned out to be very productive and useful.
BOARD MANAGEMENT
The seven members of the Board were elected at the NCM, though the VP AA resigned. We made a call for Directors and successfully appointed a Deputy for Academic Activities.
We had our first face-to-face meeting all together during a whole weekend in the south of Spain, so we could discuss the goals for every single area, and the objectives of ELSA Spain for this terms both nationally and internationally. We also established the calendar for the short term in
EXTERNAL RELATIONS
ELSA Spain has some general sponsors and some others interested on concrete projects that we are trying to develop, but nowadays we receive no economic support from them. The goal for this year is to change this situation, and to change the type of law firms and undertakings ELSA Spain has been trying to get in contact with till now. In this sense, I’ve started the approach to the sponsors we have, but I’ve also made different presentations and documents to introduce the association to this other type of enterprises I want to during this term. I’ve been trying to get some contacts and I want to start all this process before the NCM.
The Alumni Network we are hardly working in is intended to be, as well, an important part of our External Relations strategy for this term.
EXPANSION
ELSA Spain had the last two years an enormous increase in the number of Local Groups, and this year we decided to focus on the development and the first steps of all this groups which will became Full Members during this term or the next one. To help and support them. That’s why the Secre-tary General of ELSA Spain and myself have been visiting some of this groups and work with them in face-to-face meetings.
Apart from that, we are in touch with four uni-versities more in order to create four more local groups this year.

SECRETARY GENERAL
BEGINNING OF THE TERM
Since the beginning of this term I started with my mission as Secretary General of ELSA Spain. I have been in close contact with my board, with different meetings and even a weekend out all-together in Cuenca, preparing the new year and dealing with the implementation of the new ELSA Spain Strategic Plan 2014-2017.
COACHING SYSTEM
Regarding the coaching system, I am responsible for three groups: ELSA A Coruña, ELSA Sevilla and ELSA Alicante. I try to keep a close and regular contact with them. Proof of this is the active communication we have settled from both sides and the recent visit I made to ELSA Sevilla. Moreover, a week ago, the President, Carlos Se-seña, and I visited ELSA Cordoba and ELSA Sevilla in order to help them with their transition
.
LOCAL GROUPS AND NCM
Regarding specific IM duties, I am in the process of having meetings with all local officers. Some of them lacked of any transition, so I try to pro-vide them the essential knowledge about our area. I also make sure that they have all the documents the may need for their activities. I want the locals to really feel that they are part of something big-ger, and that is why I think that regular contact eases to avoid passive feelings. I would like to have an Internal Management Team that will work close to me so that we can achieve our goals: internal structure, alumni, implementation and control of our own Strategic Plan by design-ing a Balanced Scorecard (BSC), market research (partners), etc.
Currently, I am working in our working materials for our NCM, which will be held in San Sebastian from the 7th to 9th November
.
I will attend the ICM with all of my board. So, we will see in Bodrum.

[email protected]TREASURER
TRANSITION
As national treasurer my activity started at the end of July. I first contacted my predecessor for advice, tips and tricks. My first financial task was to contact the bank. Through conversations with them I negotiated a new account with benefits in terms of interests and fees. Previously, the na-tional account was shared but now it has its own profile.
COMMUNICATION WITH THE IB
The contact with the Treasurer from the Interna-tional Board was very fluent and kind. We first had to deal with the EDF application for the Supporting Area Meeting (SAM) in Madrid and Lauri was very helpful. Unfortunately ELSA Spain did not meet the requirements to obtain the grant. The EDF workshop at SAM was very use-ful but I could not have the know-how soon
LOCAL GROUPS AND GRANTS
In respect of communications with the local groups I have contacted them to ask for their collaboration in order to comply with all the in-formation requirements needed for the applica-tion of a grant. This grant is given by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport to the students association which have impact in more than one province, as it is our case.
The documents needed were delivered on time in the Register of the Ministry and our application is now pending. The maximum amount that can be granted is two thousand euros. The local groups filled all the forms I send them and in case we receive the money it will be delivered among them on a proportional basis according to their presented projects for this academic year.
MISCELLANEA
During this period of time I have also managed the invoices for the participation in the Interna-tional Council Meeting in Bodrum. This year ELSA Spain has the pleasure to announce that eight members will be there representing us there, including the complete National Board.
The invoices for the membership fees to the Lo-cal Groups have been sent as well. I have tried to contact all the local treasurers to confirm that they have access to the email addresses in the data base for previous years. As soon as they all make their payments ELSA Spain will comply with its membership fee obligation to ELSA in-ternational because at the moment we do not have enough liquidity to afford it.

[email protected]VP MARKETING
BEGINNING OF THE TERM
I was VP Marketing of ELSA Spain last year
so I haven’t received any transition. During
the starting months I was working mostly on
the
website
and finally www.elsaspain.es is
launched although there is field to
improve-ment.
During the first week of September, ELSA
Madrid-ICADE hosted the
IV SAM
and I
was head of the OC so I couldn’t participate
in many of the WS but I’ve really enjoyed it
(specially to have a wonderful team of
mar-keteers in Madrid)
COMMUNICATION WITH THE IB AND NB
During these months we have had several
online meetings and also a get-together
week-end in order to prepare our work for the
up-coming months and develop the Strategic
Plan of ELSA Spain.
Thanks to SAM I had the chance to work
closely with the IB and I’ve also requested
some templates from Idil.
LOCAL GROUPS AND COACHING
SYSTEM
From the very beginning I’ve sent emails to
all of our 14 LG sadly not all of them have a
VP MKT. I’ve created a Facebook group in
order to make our communication more
flu-ent and I’ve offered them help but some of
them are quite good creating their own
mate-rials. Although I am concerned because some
groups are not aware of the Corporate
Iden-tity so I plan to work on that during the
NCM workshop.
Also I am the coach of two groups, ELSA
Complutense and ELSA Valladolid. I’ve
con-tacted them via email and I will have a
meet-ing with ELSA Complutense this week
to-gether with Carlota (VP AA).
MISCELLANEA
I am creating new marketing materials and
templates and I was also in charge of
compil-ing this AR.
Other project that I am working on is the
launching of the 5
thedition of ELSA Spain
magazine, IBI IUS. Currently I am writing to
our LG, NB and other potential writers and
sponsors to get a good quality in the articles
which are going to be published.
I hope to see many of you in Bodrum in less than a week!!!

STARTING MONTHS
Since the beginning of this term I have continued with my mission as VP S&C. I have been in close contact with my board, with different meetings and even a weekend out all together, preparing the new year and dealing with the implementation of the new ELSA Spain Strategic Plan.
Regarding the coaching system, I am responsi-ble of two groups, ELSA CEU and ELSA Cordo-ba. I try to keep a close and regular contact with them, with active communication from both si-des.
At the first week of September we had the honour of hosting the IV Supporting Area Meeting in Madrid. As part of the OC, I tried to make as enjoyable as possible the event. We are
CONTACTING THE LOCAL GROUPS
With respect to specific S&C duties, I am in the process of having meetings with all local officers. Some of hem lacked of any transition, so I try to provide them with the essential knowledge about our area. I also make sure that they have all the documents the may need for their activities, in order to ensure both quality and evaluation. I want the locals to really feel that they are part of something bigger, and regular contact with them also encourage to avoid passive feelings.
I have the task of coordinating the ELSA Day, explaining the importance of the concept and promoting the organization of quality events at most local groups.
LOCAL GROUP ACTIVITIES
Currently there is no real report on the local acti-vities. Most Spanish universities start the acade-mic year late September or early October, there-fore the main focus so far has been recruitment. However, I can mention the II Summer Law School on Competition Law by ELSA Deusto (first week of August, a great success with more participants than the previous year), ELSA Ali-cante visit to court proceedings and ELSA Valla-dolid visit to the Supreme Court and the Parlia-ment. In addition we had the SAM mentioned above, by ELSA Madrid-ICADE, a great effort for them.
FUTURE PROJECTS
Finally, for the future I am preparing an Institu-tional Visit to Brussels for the second semester. I am also in contact with ELSA Deusto for the organization of the III edition of the SLS, and working on the likely launching of a second SLS
ACTIVITY REPORT - ELSA SPAIN 2014/2015
SUPPORT OF THE NETWORK
To get started, I have contacted our Local VP AAs in order to start working towards the devel-opment of what I hope is a close relationship with them. For these means, I have created a Facebook Group to foster informal communica-tion, where I plan to share all of the AActivities that I find in the Network, so that they can get new ideas and widen the possibilities of the area in their Local Groups.
LOCAL OFFICERS SURVEY
As I did not know how our Local Groups had been working since our last NCM in Madrid, I have conducted a survey among our Local VP AAs. Reviewing their answers I have come across a very worrying problem: too many of our Local VP AAs lack essential knowledge about our area. This is why I have almost finished preparing some kind of “AA for freshers” handbook for them.
ELSA DAY NATIONAL COORDINATOR AND DIRECTORS FOR MCC AND LRG
A call for National Coordinator of the ELSA Day has been issued but until its appointment our National VP S&C and I have been answering questions of our Local officers and also inform-ing them about the possibility of havinform-ing their ac-tivity listed in the official website.
The call for two Directors in the AA area has also been issued: one for MCC and another one for national coordination of the LRG on Social Rights. The deadline has not been met yet.
AACTIVITIES ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL
Now that all of the urgent issues are being tack-led, I am starting to work in the preparations of Academic Activities on the national level. We hope to get our members’ attention with Nego-tiation Competitions and, in the meantime, an
Essay Competition will be launched fairly soon. This is because we have noticed that many of our members and even our Local officers cannot af-ford to travel around the country.
LOCAL GROUPS
This term, our Local Groups will mainly focus on Legal Debate activities, Essay and Negotiation Competitions. Also, a few MCCs will be organ-ized and, what is more, we will be sending partici-pants to both HRMCC and EMC2!

TRANSITION
As my term started in August, I had a short tran-sition via Skype with the previous officer which next to the fluent contact we have has been very useful.
The Full Spanish National Board will be present
NATIONAL BOARD
Regarding the work in the National Board we have had several Meetings during which we dis-cuss all the relevant aspects of every area as well as potential problems or challenges in the local groups. The full national board and the Deputy AA met at a Southern rural house for a whole weekend. Here we were able to discuss all of the plans we had for the present term and we organ-ized all of the Local Group couches. This was also a great teambuilding exercise and an oppor-tunity to get to know each other better
I have already been able to contact the group I coach and have the first in-person meeting
organ-ACTION PLAN
We have developed an Action Plan with very spe-cific objectives for each area in order to help us accomplish all of the objectives in our 3 year Stra-tegic plan.
CONTACT THE OFFICERS
I introduced myself to all the local boards at the beginning of our term, and I have sent them all of the basic information for STEP and specifi-cally for the Job Hunting Season. Since then I have been answering all of the officers and mem-bers doubts and request concerning STEP
NEW TSF WITH NEW COMPANY
I am delighted to inform that we have already signed a new Traineeship thanks to ELSA DEUSTO, in a very interesting firm in Irun near the border with France. Apart from that I expect to equal or up the number of traineeships from last years.
