New Course BIO 595/795 Topics in Field Biology:___ Create a new course

Motion: C. Carucci 2nd: C. Skubik-Peplaski [APPROVED – contingent upon maximum number of repeatable hours revised to 12 Hrs.]

Chemistry

Course Revision CHE 811 Chemistry Practicum Increase credit hours from “1-2” to “1-3”; increase maximum number of hours from “two” to “three”; increase lab hours from “3-6” to “3-9”.

Program Revision Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science Remove BIO 100 in the Supporting In Chemistry 3 + 2 Dual Degree Program Course Requirements for Chemistry

Teaching. Changes to the Master of Science Chemistry Program need to be reflected in all 3 + 2 programs in the department.

Request for Exception to Time Requirements

Candidates for graduate degree programs are expected to complete all requirements for their degree within seven years from their initial enrollment in their graduate program. This time limit is extended to 10 years for students in graduate programs of 41 hours or more. Departments may establish more stringent standards.

Exceptions to the policy may be requested using the attached form. The form must clearly identify the anticipated graduation date and a plan for competing all requirements by the date listed on the form. The form must also identify all coursework that either does, or is expected to, fall outside the time-to-degree limit at the date of anticipated graduation. For those course

identified, the student must provide information at to how he/she maintained currency in the field of study during the time that has elapsed since the original completion of the course. Normally, no more than 9-12 hours of coursework outside the time-to-degree limit will be considered. All Requests for Exception must be submitted to the student’s academic advisor and chair for review and recommendation. The advisor should carefully verify the student’s plan for completion and the information regarding currency in the specified areas for courses falling outside the time to degree limit. The chair may send the signed form directly to the Graduate School or email it to graduateschool@eku.edu. The student, advisor and chair will be informed of the Graduate School’s action within 15 days from receipt. The student may appeal the

Graduate School’s decision by submitting an email request to the Graduate School within 5 days of notification of Graduate School action. Appeals may be considered by the Graduate Council and the decision of the Council is final.

It is the student’s responsibility to inform the Graduate School if there are any further delays or changes in the anticipated graduation date listed on the form. Any significant departures from the anticipated date of graduation may invalidate the outcome of this request.
