Smith to assist the culinary arts instructor in preparing students for daily food preparation, safety and sanitation requirements, inventory control and monitoring kitchen activities for one hundred seventy-nine days at thirty hours per week at Shaw High School, for the 2014-2015 school year at a cost not to exceed $22,230.00; therefore, be it

institution and a four week employment initiative at a Greater Cleveland business institution for twelve East Cleveland City School District students, at a cost of $14,400.00; therefore be it

that this Board authorizes the Treasurer to encumber and pay an amount not to exceed $14,400.00 from the General Fund-001.

CIVIC

ENGAGEMENT

TEAM

WHEREAS

,in accordance with the requirements of Ohio Revised Code Section 3301.96, each school district receiving Race to the Top funding shall establish a Family and Civic Engagement Team, and

WHEREAS

,the Superintendent shall select individuals to serve on a Family and Civic Engagement Team, inclusive of parents, community representatives, health and human service representatives, business representatives, and other individuals determined to be appropriate by the Superintendent; therefore be it

RESOLVED,

that the team shall fulfill the following duties:

1. Work with the local Family and Children First Council (FCFC) to provide recommendations to the Board regarding qualifications and responsibilities to be included in job descriptions for a family and civic engagement coordinator; 2. develop a five-year family and civic engagement plan;

3. provide an annual progress report on the development and implementation of the five-year plan for Board submission to the FCFC; and

INSTITUTE

WHEREAS,

the East Cleveland City School District will contract with the National Rites of Passage Institute (NROPI) during the 2014-2015 school year to provide youth development services to selected seventh and eighth grade students at Heritage Middle School, and

WHEREAS,

NROPI will utilize its Journey Program to promote self-development and character development, inclusive of, but not limited to, developing social and

leadership skills, unity, problem-solving skills and goal setting skills for participants at a cost not to exceed $50,000.00, and

WHEREAS,

NROPI will provide participants with opportunities for success with a wide and manageable range of activities, therefore be it

that this Board authorizes the Treasurer to encumber an amount not to exceed $50,000.00 for said services from the Race to the Top-506 Fund.

WHEREAS,

it is mandatory for a Board of Education to adopt a revised Five Year Forecast by May 31st and October 31st of each fiscal year; therefore be it

that this Board of Education authorizes the Treasurer of the East Cleveland City School District to file such Five Year Forecast with the Ohio Department of

Education as required. (See exhibit #1.)

WHEREAS,

it is necessary to amend the permanent appropriation for the East Cleveland City School District for the year ending June 30, 2015 and file it with the Cuyahoga County Auditor, therefore be it

that the appropriation is within the parameters of the estimated revenues and carry-over balances, also to be filed with the Cuyahoga County Auditor’s office, and further be it

RESOLVED,

that this Board of Education authorizes the Treasurer of the East Cleveland City School District to make adjustments as necessary to bring the appropriation into balance and file such appropriation amendment with the Cuyahoga County Auditor. (See exhibit #2.)
