NORWAY IN A NUTSHELL
One of the most popular trips in Norway Norway in a nutshell takes you through some of the most beautiful scenery in Norway`s fj ords. You can experience the scenic Bergen Railway line, the breathtak-ing Flåm Railway line, the Aurlandsfj ord, the narrow Nærøyfj ord and the steep Stalheimskleiva.
The Flåm Railway
The journey on the Flåm Railway is regarded as one of the high points on the Norway in a nutshell round trip. The 20 – km long train journey from the mountain station of Myrdal and down to Flåm deep
in the fj ord takes around 55 minutes. On the journey you have views of some of the most magnifi cent mountain scenery in Norway with an ever- changing panorama of tall mountains and thundering waterfalls. Along the Flåm Railway the train moves slowly or stops at the best views. Down at the idyllic Flåm there is time to eat and to wander around little before continuing your journey by boat. The journey goes out from Aurland-sfj ord and into the Nærøyfj ord, the narrow-est fj ord in Europe. On the journey you have views of the small traditional farms before the boats moors at Gudvangen.
Now the coach journey continues the steep and spectacular hairpin bends of Stalheimskleiva to Voss. From Voss you can continue your journey by train to Bergen or Oslo.
The Norway in a Nutshell round trip is available all year and can be completed in one day. You can stop off en- route if you wish to spend more time on the journey and enjoy more of what nature has to off er.

Trondheim
The city of Kings“No king in Norway could rule in peace if he failed to have the people of Trøndelag on his side” wrote Snorre Sturlason, the famous Icelan-dic Poet and historian. Trondheim holds a special place in Norwegian history and culture. It was the fi rst capital of Norway, and is still the city where new kings receive their ceremonial blessing.
The crown Jewels, the symbol of Royal power, are kept in Nidaros Cathedral. Norway`s national sanctuary and the most important monument of the Middle Ages. It has been and still is a popular pilgrimage site.
Today Trondheim is a city where past and present times live together in harmony. The architecture and the surroundings create a beauti-ful setting for any outing. Choose between a rich variety of historical sights, museums & art galleries – and look forward to a unforget-table experience!

The Midnight Sun
The world knows Norway as the Land of the Midnight Sun. Strictly speaking, only North Norway lives up to the name in a literal sense. It is only in the north that the sun truly never sets during the sum-mer months. Tourists who visit this region during the summer will experience the Midnight Sun fully in clear weather, but even if it is cloudy, these light nights are still a com-pletely unique experience. Nights are light during the summer in the rest of the country too, with sunset as late as 22.30 and sunrise again at 03.00.

The Northern Lights
During the dark winter months, North Norway has yet another remarkable phenomenon - the Northern Lights - or Aurora Borealis, ames across the heav-ens in varying intheav-ensity and form.
They can manifest as rays arcs or curtains of colour that range from greenish white to deep red. Seeing the North-ern Lights blazing across the winter night is an extraordi-nary and mystical experience. Northern Lights is caused by charged particles from the sun that get caught in the
eld, caus-ing air molecules and atoms to light up. During winter the Northern Lights can some-times be seen across south-ern Norway as well.

Norwegian Fjords – world’s

The fjord district has always been the greatest

important reason tourists travel to Scandinavia an

glaciers, waterfalls and peaceful small
communities represents a valuable contrast to th

In the beginning of February the Minister of

for the area that encompasses the Nærø

This candidacy is furthe

Fjord District has been proclaimed the world’s
best travel destination, particularly because of its
natural and cultural qualities.
The Sognefjordis the fjord that has the m ost

fjord by ship or other boats each year.
All of the boating routes are open for the five-month perio

Increased focus on the fjords, including expande
