KINDLE

FINANCIAL

I'm making more than enough to live off so this is my last Kindle product EVER. Last month I made over $15,000 selling books so my going away gift to everyone is my Kindle strategy. Below, I go over EXACTLY what I do in fiction and non-fiction. I write in both, but I have come to like fiction better. This guide is not meant to be very long with a bunch of fluff. It’s exactly what I did to make the picture below happen.

Book Length

You will want your books to be 20k Words to 30k Words long. This way it won't take you as long to

(4)

write a book or it won't cost you as much to pay a freelancer. I have found that short books work in

about all the major categories. You’ll need to release a book every two weeks so anything longer than the

recommended word count will be hard to accomplish in that time span. Anything shorter will get awful reviews for being too short.

Genre

Mystery, thrillers, romance, paranormal, and on and on. I haven’t had a fiction genre that hasn’t worked. They need to be a series of books so readers will want to continue with the story so keep that in mind.

You also MUST have a cliffhanger at the end your books. If you don’t then you’ve already failed my strategy.

If you're worried about genres like mystery and

(5)

mystery or thriller. Let's say you have a mystery: You would want to complete the mystery aspect by the end of the book. However, have a back story for your

detective where you can have a cliffhanger about his life or something like that. You want people to get invested into your characters so they continue reading your books.

Title

Since you’re doing a series you need 2 things in your book title. You need the book name and series name.

Example below:

Broken (The Oceans Series, Book #1) Destroyed (The Oceans Series, Book #2) Loved (The Oceans Series, Book #3)

(6)

Book covers must be similar to one another. That way a person knows that it is part of your series. Make sure that your book cover fits your category by going to the categories bestsellers list on Amazon. Find the fonts that are working for those authors. But realize that you can't use all fonts commercially and that you'll have to check the rights you have when using a font. Below is an example of how a series of book covers should look.

Book Matter

How the inside of your book layout is set up is super important. You need to have a link to your email list and all other books in your series at the beginning and end of your books. If you don't do this then you are missing out on a ton of sales. Once your book is

(7)

permanently free you will get a lot of e-mail sign-ups so make sure to do this.

Using my book title example, here’s how your book should be setup:

{book title} {author name}

{copyright}

Only $0.99 for My New Releases Broken (The Oceans Series, Book #1) Destroyed (The Oceans Series, Book #2)

Loved (The Oceans Series, Book #3)

(8)

Only $0.99 for My New Releases Broken (The Oceans Series, Book #1) Destroyed (The Oceans Series, Book #2)

Loved (The Oceans Series, Book #3)

Writing and Outsourcing

I actually write some books myself and others I have ghostwriters do. I usually can get 75,000 words

written for around $600. Now that would be three books at 25,000 words for each one. That's $200 per book. That's not bad at all considering it is easy to make that money back. If you're wondering what websites I use they are Guru, odesk, and Elance.

Pricing Strategy

Don’t put your book in KDP Select. Now for my pricing strategy I make the first one in the series permanently free and then the second book $.99 and every book after that $2.99. But only do that when you have 5 books out in the series. Before then you need to

(9)

release every new release for 99 cents. Book 1 goes permanently free when you have three books in the series out. You don't want to bring out your first book and make it free because you have nothing to sell and you're wasting your first month free on nothing.

Instead if you wait until you have three books out you can make your first book perma free and get all the sales on book 2 and 3.

Once all 5 books are out in the series price your books like this:

Book 1 – Permanently FREE Book 2 - $0.99

Book 3 - $2.99 Book 4 - $2.99 Book 5 - $2.99

(10)

You need good reviews to keep selling on Amazon. Anything from 3 1/2 stars to 5 stars has kept my books afloat in the rankings. My strategy to get a whole

bunch of five-star reviews at the beginning of your books release for book 1 is to go to Goodreads and find books that are similar to yours and contact people that have left five-star reviews on those books. Tell them that you have a new book coming out and you’re offering them the first book in your series for free in return of a review. Do this before your first book is published so you have reviews lined up. If they've

read it and enjoyed it and leave a review then tell them you will send them part two in your series. Do this for every book in your series. These people must leave reviews on each book in the series to get the next book. This has worked splendid for me.

Release Strategy

You’re book release strategy is super important. You need to bring out a new book in your series every 2 weeks. That way you always have 2 books out in the past 30 days. Amazon promotes books way more

(11)

when they are in that 30 day window. So if you have 2 books in that window then that’s a lot of promotion.

Conclusion

This is the simplest strategy and one of the easiest. I haven't had much problem making any series take off. As much as people say they hate series and

cliffhangers they continue to buy the books. It’s hard work but if you’re serious about making money then you’ll do it.

HOW TO MAKE BOOK PERMANENTLY FREE ON AMAZON

Signup for Draft2Digital if you haven't yet. Then publish the book you want free on Amazon using Draft2Digital but only publish to Apple and Barnes and Noble for $0.00

Next make sure that your book you are trying to make free on Amazon is only 99 cents.

(12)

Last, use the contact button in KDP once book is published. Ask them to price match your book and give them your Amazon book link along with your Apple and Barnes and Noble links where your book is FREE.

Send them a new message through KDP if they say no until it goes through.

If you would like to read case studies then you can purchase them by clicking here.

Kindle Non-Fiction

Don’t put your book in KDP Select.

Nonfiction was where I started writing. It seems easier which it is to write. However, it is a lot harder to make

(13)

money. But if you are really stuck on writing

nonfiction and you don't want to start writing fiction then here is what worked to make me $1,000 a month.

Series

You will want to create a series of books that are similar to each other. That way if someone buys one then they might buy the rest of your series. Plus, series are easy to create in nonfiction because you do not need to write very many words. I would say a good nonfiction book is anywhere from 6,000 words to 10,000 words.

Titles Example

Here's an example of a series you could write for weight loss.

Weight Loss for Vegetarians Weight Loss for Vegans

(14)

Weight Loss for Red Meat Eaters Weight Loss for Chicken Eaters Weight Loss for Exercise Freaks Weight Loss for Pasta Eaters

Book Content

My strategy was to find good information on the

internet and create a book in my own words out of the information. Do not directly copy anything otherwise you could be sued for copyright infringement.

Make your books setup look like the Kindle fiction.

{book title} {author name}

{copyright}

Only $0.99 for My New Releases Weight Loss for Vegetarians

(15)

Weight Loss for Vegans

Weight Loss for Red Meat Eaters Weight Loss for Chicken Eaters Weight Loss for Exercise Freaks

Weight Loss for Pasta Eaters

{book content}

Only $0.99 for My New Releases Weight Loss for Vegetarians

Weight Loss for Vegans

Weight Loss for Red Meat Eaters Weight Loss for Chicken Eaters Weight Loss for Exercise Freaks

(16)

Before you write the books in my titles example you would need to write the first book in the series, which would be an overview of weight loss. You could hit on each different part in your overview book but don't go into great detail. You could have a little paragraph about weight loss for vegetarians, weight loss for

vegans, and on and on. Then in each paragraph have a link to your books that the paragraph goes with. So your short paragraph about weight loss for vegetarians should have a link to your long book about weight loss for vegetarians. Now you will want to make this

overview book of weight loss permanently free or whatever your overview book is about.

Pricing Strategy

You will want to make your overview book

permanently free or whatever your overview book is about. Make your other books 99 cents when they are published until 30 days later and then change them to $2.99 apiece.

(17)

Book Covers

Like my Kindle fiction strategy, your book covers are very important. People these days judge books by

their covers just like they did 10, 20, 30, years ago. As much as librarians have said don't judge a book by its cover, that hasn't stopped many people from doing so. There was a poll done among Amazon readers and 70% of them said they would likely buy a book by how the cover looks. So that tells you need to

purchase good book covers whether you find someone on Fivver or any other freelance website. Whatever category you are writing in nonfiction go to that

Amazon category and look at covers of books that are doing well. This should give you an idea of what they should look like. Then from there you need to start creating your book covers.

Book Release Strategy

This is the most important part! You need to release a new book every 2 weeks so you always have 2 books out in the past 30 days. You can do more for better

(18)

results but a new book release every 2 weeks is a must.

Reviews

I get reviews for nonfiction a little differently. I use Facebook groups where you leave reviews for others and they leave reviews for yourself. This isn’t very difficult. Just search in Facebook for groups with keywords “book reviews”. Then you post your book once join the group.

Conclusion

Nonfiction isn’t that difficult to get started with. You just have to release books often so you get optimum marketing from Amazon. Remember, you need to create one book summarizing your other books and linking to each one.

Still Don’t Get It?
