Other castles of interest in the area are Schloss Nymphenburg (within the city of Munich), Hohenschwangau, the Pilgrimage Church of Wies near Steingaden, a breathtaking Rococo church, and Schloss Linderhof, an extravagantly decorated hillside castle. The castle Herrenchiemsee is located at the lake Chiemsee, Bavaria’s largest freshwater lake.

The town hall’s world-famous carillon at the Marienplatz plays the “Schäfflertanz” daily during the summer months at 11 am, 12 noon and 5 pm. With its 43 bells and 32 life-sized figures it tells the story of Duke Wilhelm V’s marriage to Renata of Lorraine.

The English Garden has an area of 3,7km²/1.4 sq mi and is one of the world’s largest urban public parks. Its natural beauty offers the ideal place for all kind of leisure activities. The famous Eisbach surfers are a very special attraction of Munich and can be seen at Eisbachbrücke at the English Garden.

Because Oktoberfest is held on the Theresienwiese, locals refer to the event simply as the “Wies’n”.

t h e h o F B r ä u h Au sThe Hofbräuhaus am Platzl is the most famous beer hall in the world and located in the city center of Munich, just a few steps away from the hotel. The inn was originally built in 1598 and the general public was admitted only in 1828 by king Ludwig I. The restaurant comprises the inn, a ballroom as well as a beer garden. Its menu features Bavarian dishes such as roast pork, pork knuckle and sausages as well as Weisswurst. The "Helles" is served in a “Maß”
