PROSPECTIVE PATIENT
MESSAGING
Does your office offer CoolSculpting?
» Yes, we’ve had incredible interest in CoolSculpting since we first started offering the procedure [last month, six months ago, last year, etc.]! I’d be happy to schedule a consultation with you and [insert physician name]. He/she can answer all of your questions and determine if you are a good candidate for losing stubborn fat with CoolSculpting. Do mornings or afternoons work better for you? [If the practice is certified, it would be great to “drop” this and identify itself as a certified CoolSculpting Center.]
What is CoolSculpting? Can you tell me more about it?
» CoolSculpting is a breakthrough, non-invasive procedure that uses cooling technology to noticeably eliminate fat without surgery. [Insert physician name] will determine if you are a good candidate and work with you to determine the best treatment plan during a one-on-one consultation.
What happens during the procedure?
» Using a technology developed by Harvard scientists, CoolSculpting targets and freezes fat cells causing their natural death in the treatment area. It’s completely non-invasive so there is no cutting, no needles and no anesthesia. Patients typically read, work on their laptops, listen to music or relax during the procedure.
Is CoolSculpting safe? Painful? Are there side effects?
» CoolSculpting is medically cleared for the flanks and proven safe. Some patients may experience temporary pain or discomfort. [Insert physician name] can talk to you more about what to expect during and after treatment when you meet for your consultation.
How long is each treatment?
» During your consultation, [insert physician name] will discuss how much time should be allotted based on your individual treatment plan. A typical treatment can last between one and three hours.
How much does CoolSculpting cost? How many treatments will I need? » The price for CoolSculpting varies, depending on your areas of concern, the
number of treatments needed and your ultimate goals. [Insert physician name] would need to assess you in person to help estimate the cost. [Reference any discounts/specials if appropriate.] Typically, you’ll see a noticeable reduction of fat in the treated area after one visit, but you may appreciate even more fat reduction with additional treatments.
Are CoolSculpting results permanent? How long do results last?
» CoolSculpting results are lasting, as long as you maintain your healthy lifestyle. The fat cells that are eliminated from CoolSculpting do not return.
THE MAIN
COOLSCULPTING
®MESSAGE
CoolSculpting is the safe, non-invasive way to reduce fat in common trouble areas that tend to be diet- and exercise-resistant. Researchers at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, developed the patented technology behind CoolSculpting that cools fat and destroys fat cells, resulting in an undeniable reduction of fat in the treated areas.
Am I a good candidate for CoolSculpting?
» CoolSculpting is not a weight loss solution for people who are obese, or a substitute for surgical methods such as liposuction. Good candidates have noticeable bulges in certain areas they’d like to get rid of. [Insert physician name] will determine if treatment is right for you during a one-on-one consultation.
What are the specific areas of the body that are being treated with CoolSculpting?
» CoolSculpting may be performed on multiple body areas. During your consultation, [insert physician name] will be able to determine your treatment plan based on your assessment.
The revolutionary technology behind CoolSculpting was born from the simple observation that children who ate a lot of popsicles had dimpling in their cheeks due to a loss of fat from the excessive exposure to cold. This idea led to the innovative cooling process developed by scientists at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
As we age, we all store fat in certain areas that just won’t go away. CoolSculpting is a proven, non-surgical fat reduction treatment that freezes stubborn fat, which is then naturally eliminated from your body. No needles, no special diet, no supplements, no surgery. And most importantly, no recovery period. CoolSculpting is safe, medically-cleared and does exactly what it’s supposed to do.
Treatment works best on those who enjoy a healthy lifestyle, but can’t seem to shake those pockets of fat in problem areas. Backed by clinical data, CoolSculpting delivers undeniable, life-changing results in as little as one treatment.
With more than 230,000 treatments performed worldwide, CoolSculpting is proven safe and effective for getting you back the body you deserve.
IT’S TIME TO SHOW OFF THE BODY YOU DESERVE AND GET RID OF STUBBORN FAT.

Assess the patient
A proper assessment is crucial to the success of CoolSculpting outcomes. When assessing the patient, remember that a good vacuum draw will allow maximum tissue exposure to the cooling panels
» Talk to your patient about their medical history
to ensure no contraindications
» Ask them how they heard about CoolSculpting
1
» Educate your patient on what to expect before, during
and after a CoolSculpting procedure
2
» Ask your patient to stand so that the fat is
subject to gravity
» Ensure that patient clothing is not affecting
the assessment area
» Ask patients to touch and identify their “problem
areas” and visually confirm if a bulge is present
3
» Assess the treatment area by pulling fat away from the
body forming a “C” shape with your hands. This will help you determine if the patient is a good candidate by assessing how much tissue can be drawn into the applicator cup
4
» If they are a good candidate for CoolSculpting,
use Applicator Planning Templates to determine which applicator to use and how many applications will be required for successful results
5
» Use your CoolSculpting Treatment Planning Form
to create a treatment plan
» Confirm with your patient that the treatment plan
matches their needs and desired outcome
6
CONSULTATION
GUIDELINES
EXAMPLE OF A
GOOD TISSUE DRAW
This is critical to optimal treatment outcomes. The more contact tissue has with the cooling panels, the more fat we can cool.

How do I know which applicator to use?
Applicator Planning Templates » Color coded planning templates
are included with your applicators and help you mark your patient for optimal treatment planning
Liners and Gelpads » These match up with the
series-specific applicator and are required for every treatment
Consumable Cards
» A series-specific cycle card that is inserted into the applicator to start treatment Cooling Panel Cooling Panel Tissue Draw

COOLSCULPTING®TREATMENT PLANNING FORM
Treatment Planning Form Patient Take-Home Guidelines
What to expect during CoolSculpting:
» CoolSculpting is a non-surgical procedure that may take from one to several hours, depending on your treatment plan.
» No topical anesthesia or pain medication is required. » As the procedure is initiated, vacuum pressure draws tissue into an applicator cup between cooling panels. The vacuum pressure may cause sensations of deep pulling, tugging and pinching in the area being treated.
» You also may experience intense stinging, tingling, aching or cramping. These sensations generally subside as the area becomes numb.
What to expect immediately after CoolSculpting:
» Immediately after the procedure, your treated area may look or feel stiff and transient blanching (temporary whitening of the skin) may occur
. » You may feel a sense of nausea or dizziness as your body naturally warms and sensation returns
to your treatment area. These are normal reactions that typically resolve within minutes. » The treated area may be red for up to a few hours after the applicator is removed. This is an expected but temporary effect after CoolSculpting. » Bruising, swelling and tenderness can occur in the treated area. This typically r
esolves within a week or two.
» Nausea and tingling, stinging and cramping in the treatment area are often reported on treatment day.
» You may feel a temporary dulling of sensation in the tr eated area. This is normal and typically resolves within a few hours but may last for several weeks after
your procedure. » There typically is minimal recovery time after CoolSculpting. Most patients are able to return to
their daily routine immediately after the procedure.
What to expect the first few days and weeks after CoolScu lpting:
» It is common for the treated area to feel bloated and look swolle n in the first few days and weeks after CoolSculpting.
» You may experience a temporary dulling of sensation that can last for several weeks . » At some point within the first two weeks following the procedure, you may experience one or
more of the following sensations: deep itching, tingling, numbn ess, tenderness to the touch, pain in the treated area, strong cramping, diarrhea, muscle spasms, aching and/or soreness. Consult your doctor if these conditions persist beyond tw
o weeks or worsen over time.

THE PATIENT
EXPERIENCE –
TALK TO YOUR PATIENT
Talk to your patient about the procedure experience. Realistic expectations for treatment outcomes and what to expect during the treatment are key. Here are some talking points on procedure day:
Gelpad
» The gelpad will feel very cold and wet as it is applied to the skin
» The gelpad is an important component as it protects the skin from injury and creates optimal tissue draw
Vacuum
» As the vacuum is being applied you may feel deep pulling, tugging and pinching
» It is important to continue to breathe as the vacuum is applied
» This may be uncomfortable but try your best to relax
Cooling
» You also may experience intense stinging, tingling, aching or cramping as we turn on the cold
» These sensations generally subside in the first 5 to 8 minutes as the area becomes numb
TREATMENT DAY

QUICK TIPS:
VACUUM SETTINGS
For the properly selected patient, default vacuum settings should be sufficient for a proper draw. If you decide to increase the vacuum pull you must adjust the massage setting appropriately.
» Minimum massage suction must match the vacuum suction to ensure no pop-offs
» We recommend maximum massage at 15 points above minimum massage settings
Place the applicator
» Prepare the patient for placement of the applicator
» The patient should change into clothing that does not get in the way of the gelpad or constrict the vacuum pull
» The patient should be standing when applying the eZ App 6 to ensure the most accurate placement
» Because of the intense pull of the eZ App 8 consider reclining the patient
» Carefully place and center the gelpad over the “X” while the patient is standing
» The gelpad should only make contact with the skin
» Gently smooth the gelpad to remove air pockets, bubbles and/ or folds
» Check the gelpad for rips or tears
» Using the touch-screen, indicate the gelpad has been placed
» Turn on the vacuum using the applicator touchpad or the system touch-screen
» Center the applicator over the peak of the bulge and use the taper marks to determine the angle placement
» Apply the applicator straight on
» Let the vacuum do the work
» With proper patient selection, there is no need to forcefully apply the applicator
» Visually confirm tissue has been drawn into the applicator cup between the cooling panels
» Verify the gelpad is extended past the applicator cooling panels
» Help the patient get into a comfortable position
» Use blankets, pillows or other support items
» Ensure the applicator is supported to avoid pop-off situations
» Initiate cooling using the applicator touchpad or the system touch-screen after the applicator is supported and the patient is comfortable
» Offer the patient water, a magazine, etc. before leaving the room
» It is important that the patient move as little as possible during treatment to avoid pop-off situations
» Check back on the patient periodically throughout the treatment
14
End of the treatment
» During the last 5 minutes go
into the treatment room and describe to the patient how the treated area will look and feel as the applicator is removed
» At the end of the procedure
turn off the vacuum
» Release the vacuum seal by
sliding your finger between the patient’s skin and the blue rubber edges of the applicator cup
» To remove the vacuum gently
rock the applicator back and forth while lifting
» Review and provide Patient
Take-Home Guidelines
» Schedule a 6-8 week follow-up
medical assessment
» Remove and dispose of the liner
» Wipe down the applicator
with a sani-cloth or alcohol wipe removing excess gel and taking care not to scratch the cooling panels
» Check remaining applications
on the touch-screen
» Check your treatment supplies
» Power off the system
» If you need to order additional

» As the applicator is removed
t Your treated area will appear red or bruised. It may also look or feel stiff and transient blanching (temporary whitening of the skin) may occur
t We are going to massage the treatment area for a few minutes immediately after the applicator is removed. This can be an uncomfortable experience.
Please let us know if you’d like us to stop
t It may be uncomfortable as your tissue naturally warms and sensation returns to your treatment area

t Bruising and tenderness can result from the vacuum pressure
t You may feel a temporary dulling of sensation in the treated area
t Anytime throughout the day you may experience nausea and tingling, stinging and cramping in the treatment area
Consider this
» Tell your patient that weight gain will prevent them from appreciating their full results. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine after their procedure can help prevent this
» Schedule a follow-up medical assessment to review clinical results and discuss the option of additional treatments to achieve desired fat reduction
17
16
YOUR FORMULA FOR
SUCCESSFUL FOLLOW-UPS
Booking a post-treatment medical assessment is key in reviewing the success of CoolSculpting and determining if additional treatments are needed for the desired outcome
»48 Hours post-treatment
t Contact the patient over the phone to inquire how they are feeling
t Confirm or schedule the post-treatment medical assessment
» Prior to post-treatment medical assessment
t Print pre-treatment photos to help you create post-picture accuracy
t Confirm the appointment 2 days before and remind the patient to wear their pre-treatment clothing for post-treatment photos
Follow-up Medical Assessment
» Weigh the patient and record
in the Treatment Planning Form
» Take post-treatment photos using
the original photos as a reference for consistency
» Patient should be wearing the same
clothes as pre-treatment photos
» Discuss the patient experience
to-date
» Compare pre- and
post-procedure photos with the patient Through CoolSculpting,
fat and overlying skin are placed between two cooling metal plates using a vacuum applicator
CoolSculpting targets and cools fat cells to temperatures that trigger fat cell apoptosis. Lipids in fat crystallize at a warmer temperature than water in other cell types
» Reassess the treatment area and

PATIENT
TESTIMONIALS
» Consider asking your patient for a testimonial that you can include with their successful before and after pictures. These can be used on your practice website, in office materials as well as in your outreach marketing materials such as newsletters or eblasts.
Adipocyte
Cell remnants Triglycerides
After CoolSculpting, the adipocytes undergo apoptosis (natural cell death)
Macrophages leave the treated area through the lymphatic system
If you take in more fat than you need, the excess fat is stored in your adipocytes (fat cells)
The fat is used as an energy source for your body
Macrophages travel through the blood-stream and to the liver where they are processed and used for energy
The fat you eat in food travels through your digestive system and to your liver
THE SCIENCE OF COOLSCULPTING
®:
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE FAT
Our technology is built upon the fact that fat freezes at a higher temperature than our other water containing cells, a principle that is illustrated in our refrigerators.
If we leave a stick of butter out at room temperature it is soft and easy to spread. If we take that same stick of butter and put in the refrigerator it becomes hard and rigid, just like the fat that we see when we remove our CoolSculpting applicator. This is because the lipid molecules within the fat cells crystallize.
Like our fat, butter responds differently to cooling than anything else in the fridge (or our bodies).
COOLSCULPTING MESSAGING:
BUTTER ANALOGY
Fat layer thickness is significantly reduced Following treatment, fat cells enter apoptic death sequence and are gradually removed in the next few weeks and months by the immune system
