FOUNDATION WEB

DESIGN COURSE

Web Design is so much more indepth than “just another format of Graphic Design”. The Graphic Design School honours this by keeping the Foundation Web Design Course separate from it’s Graphic Design courses. This course focuses on end user experience (design and function) and brief goals while considering colour, type, interaction and formatting constraints. We teach web in a way that makes sense of the

nonsensical world that is the World Wide Web.

Graduates will experience the confidence needed to be able to market their web design skills at the end of the course. Students will be taught the necessary web design skills in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Fireworks, in a guided step-by-step method via video tutorials. This means you can undertake the Web Design Course with a beginner Level of software knowledge. We understand that web designers may choose to work in one or all three of these programs, so the course offers the student the opportunity to choose the software that best suits their existing skills set, or to make an informed decision on the

best software to learn. Students may in fact choose to learn all three along side each other. That choice is up to the individual and the software learning for all three Adobe programs is available to all Web Design Course students. You will cover 4 Modules during the course and be issued a Certificate of Completion after successfully completing the course. The course will equip you with the skills necessary to understand information and interface design, and the ability to plan and design a multi-page website project. It will

also equip you with a thorough working knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, or Fireworks (or all three), enabling you to step into your chosen web design role anywhere.

Who is the ideal candidate for this course?

A print designer who wishes to branch out into web design

- A self taught designer

- A web developer who aims to enhance their skills by learning web design

- A person with an interest in web design with a beginner level of skill in Illustrator, Photoshop or Fireworks Students have 6 months to complete the course. As the course is entirely self paced, students can study online and in their own time.

Enrolments are taken all year round, any day of the year. Approximate time to complete the course is 200 hours. This may vary from student to student.

DESIGN @ WORK

a design budget, yet you have an employee you would like to train to accomplish some design tasks. This is for you!

Give me the skills, but don’t make me think! We hear you! Consider the Design @ Work

course takes a paint by numbers approach to designing. We give you a range of beautiful workplace related templates and we teach you the Adobe tools you need to apply your work content to our templates. Easy!

Our Adobe video tutorials will

take you through in a very step by step approach to adjusting each template and making it your own, it’s that simple, you learn the tools, apply images, type and colour to the placeholders, Viola! You have a brochure, flyer, business card, mood board, newsletter; the list goes on from the choice of templates. We

even teach you how to make your own colour palettes, source great images and use your company’s existing resources.

Free yourself from Word & PowerPoint.

Word and PowerPoint were not made to be design tools. Even the best designer would get a very average design result using these programs. Good results need the right tools.

Enter the Adobe suite

You will be using Adobe InDesign to accomplish your designs. InDesign is what we call a ‘multi page layout program’. This means that you can create a design that has one or more pages. InDesign is great for type and can also accept what we call vector & pixel based graphics. Which are fancy words for graphics and images. InDesign is very intuitive and can be used from a beginner to a professional level. This means that using InDesign on a regular basis Entirely online and self paced

you can fit it in at work, around work, when you want. If ever there was one, this is the design course for non designers.

Who is this course for? If your job role relies on you to be a ‘little bit’ of a designer yet you have no intention to become a fully fledged designer OR you are an employer that does not have
