The Logo Design Approach & Some Results

All professional re-branding efforts begin with an in-depth client interview. By asking the right questions, and actively listening, we enter the process with a solid understanding of the client’s market position, target demographics and the overall goals of the re-branding effort.

After the client interview, the next phase is the logo icon development. The icon development starts with black and white design concepts to clearly define its shape and depth as it will appear through all advertising medium. We start with the lowest form in which the logo must function. By starting this way, we ensure an end product which will translate visually across multiple marketing platforms.

Additionally the logo icon will be designed to be a stand-alone element representing the company brand identity without the typeface present. With the icon created, the typeface is selected. The font used must relate well to and complement the icon to further support the desired identity of the organization.

Once the overall design is achieved, the color stage is introduced, focusing on a color schematic that will represent the overall brand identity of the company. At the end of this phase, the final options will be presented for selection.

Assumptions & General Understandings

1. The final balance of the project is due only once you are completely satisfied and we finish our portion of the work. We cannot send filed to print or without the final balance being paid, so please make allowances if you have strict check requisition policies or require multiple signors, etc.

2. Alterations beyond the number of revisions shown will be charged as a project modification at our standard rate. Revisions may include color selection, name placement, font selection, minor changes to the icon, etc, but is not meant to encompass a complete redesign of the concept. We want to keep our prices reasonable, so we don’t budget for doing more work than was discussed.

3. The proposed timeframe is very achievable by our team, but we can’t do it alone. To make this happen, we need your materials (photos, copy, logos, etc.) when we start the project and a quick response on feedback, meeting availability and approvals. We plan on 2 day turn around for those items. If you need more time, we understand, but it will push completion date back. Missed deadlines for materials we need from you will push subsequent deadlines (project wide) back by 1 week minimum. Every Friday we set our production schedule and if we don’t have what we need to work on your project, we’ll have to shift resources and come back once we have what we need. After 3 consecutive delays,

Delayed Project Invoice Sent.

4. The price shown is based on using our Project Hub and Proofing Software for all project related communications in place of email. A discount of 20% has already been factored into the price of this project to demonstrate the improved communication and efficiency the Project Hub offers. 5. This project does not include the following services, unless specifically stated above:

Legal Services – We may place a Copyright Notice on a web site or other material, but we don’t actually file work with the US Copyright Office. We

encourage you to talk to your attorney to see if that would be needed.

If you believe something should have been included, but was not mentioned, please bring it up before the project starts.

6. We are both welcome to work with others; you can work with other creative firms and we can work with other companies in your field. We do offer exclusive relationships when a specific exclusive retainer agreement is purchased.

7. Despite our enthusiasm and best hopes for a project, we cannot guarantee its ultimate success or results beyond providing beautifully designed print material. If any of benchmarks or goals are discussed during development, they are to be considered for discussion purposes only and in no way constitute a performance guarantee.

8. Since we only charged for the design of pieces shown, concepts can only be used for those pieces. If you love the work so much you’d like to turn it into a complete rebranding campaign, that’s great – we’ll provide a price to do that or you can purchase the rights to the concepts and layered files for a fee called an “Intellectual Property Rights Transfer”. Any ideas not used for the final product will remain ours. We retain the right to use our design work for self-promotion, securing additional clients or for general professional advancement. Of course, you have full, unrestricted use of any logo design work we do for you.

Assumptions & General Understandings

9. If at some point during the project, you get completely swamped with other priorities, we completely understand. If 3 weeks goes by and we’re still ‘on hold’ we’ll pause the project so you don’t incur additional fees. At the same time, well send an invoice for any remaining

balance, less 10% due at that time. Once you’re ready to start back up and finish the project, we’ll create a new project schedule reflecting the current workload and staff availability.

10. You promise that you have permission to use any third party material sent to us. You also promise to follow any rules (or make us aware of them) set by that third party in the use of their material. We promise to be professional and fair; all final artwork sent to you will be our own original work, and any third party resources (photos, videos, etc) will be used with full permission/licensing. We promise that, to the best of our knowledge, our work does not violate any copyrights.

11. While our team here is a friendly bunch, unless it is requested and included in the proposal, we don’t include time in the price for onsite meetings or presentations. Our work and pricing is time based and we always give our best possible price without padding for extras. We make extensive use of online screen sharing to hold meetings throughout the course of a project so there’s plenty of communication. This allows us to keep our prices sharp while still keeping you in the loop.
