Why Study in France?

France:

• World Class Education System

• World’s largest producer of Luxury Products • One of the most visited countries in the world

Following the “Bologna process”, the French higher education system is based on the “LMD” degree system delivering “Licence”, “Master” and “Doctorate”.

Today, the LMD system is now used throughout the EU. This system allows students to transfer credits and establish degree equivalencies between institutions and different higher education systems much easier. It is designed to facilitate international student mobility within the EU and around the world.

• ECTS – European Credit Transfer System

As in the French public universities, the accredited private higher education institutions such as ESCE follow the ECTS for each course delivered. ECTS credits are cumulative and transferable.

French Higher Education

System

One of the great strengths of the French education system is the availability of a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees. Each degree program corresponds to a course of study that is strictly defined. This provides a French degree with a very clear indication of what has been studied and the skills obtained by the graduates.

• Licence:

A total of three years of study after high school Baccalauréat (180 ECTS credits) – Equivalent to a 3-year Bachelor’s degree

• Master:

ESCE Paris

In September 1968, responding to a request from the French Foreign Trade Centre, now called UBI France, four university Professors decided to create ESCE. ESCE then became the first business school specializing in Management and International Trade.

ESCE’s mission then was to train future managers in International Trade in France to develop the country’s business export/import activities.

Since its inception, ESCE has offered innovative global business programs UNIQUE from other schools. An exceptional program that involves: international trade techniques, a selection of foreign languages, participation in academic mobility programs abroad, experienced international teaching faculty, all combined providing a haven for the next innovative business leaders in a multicultural environment.

The secret to achieve excellence is only provided to our students. Just within a period of 2 years after 1968, the curriculum of ESCE rapidly evolved to meet the international quality standards. Career focused program with individual attention

Internship Placement

Final Graduate Thesis Presentation

All students in their final year are required to present their Thesis project to an academic jury. Preparing for such a project sharpens the analytical and research skills. Preparation of the presentation builds up confidence and develops interpersonal and communication skills, which are crucial aspects of transforming into a successful business leader.

Learning and Communication Centers

To complement the in-class learning experience at ESCE, the Learning and Communication centers provide students with access to courses offered online, class notes and other pertinent information which facilitates the overall program and the learning experience.

Research and Publications

Research at ESCE is conducted through the Interdisciplinary Center for Foreign Trade and Economic Research (CIRCEE). CIRCEE’s research policy is determined by its researchers in close collaboration with the Scientific Advisory Board, made up of school’s business and management professors.

CIRCEE’s research objective is to advance knowledge in the fields of management and international trade, and to ensure the education delivered at ESCE is constantly enriched and updated through research.

As a result, research at CIRCEE concentrates on three areas: Macro-economic and legal environment of International Trade Strategy and understanding of international markets

International Management and Supply Chain Management Research conducted by CIRCEE is predominantly published in peer-reviewed journals; business journals, books and case studies. CIRCEE contributes to the international research field by organizing

a bi-annual scientific symposium and through active participation of its members in national and international peer review networks. Each year, ESCE research professors publish articles in a variety

of journals. You are able to consult the list of publications on the ESCE website under Research.

ESCE experience…..

Originally, my plan was to stay in Paris for 1 year to work as an au pair. Thanks to the attractiveness of the French culture, gastronomy and the amazing city life in Paris, I decided to come back again to continue my studies for my Master’s program here. I chose ESCE because it is one of the most interesting schools for those of us who would like to become bilingual in English and French. The main reason for this is because the students can choose to have most of the classes in English and some classes in French (if their French level is high enough). Concerning the specializations, ESCE students have double competencies. At first, I was interested in International Trade and then I decided to take International Marketing. Since ESCE offers International Trade courses in all

specializations, both my wishes were fulfilled. The International Trade specialization complimented my International Marketing interests. This training in two areas in one Master’s degree helped me to improve my strategic decision making skills and also paved my way to the import-export career within an international company. ESCE program is a highly demanding program with a lot of good academic tutors. The Research professors at ESCE keep the program up-to-date with the latest business ideologies. In my opinion, ESCE prepares its students well for the real business world and I spent a really nice and productive two years at ESCE during my studies.

Viktoria MAJOROS from Hungary (Graduating class of 2014) International Marketing specialization at ESCE.

Induction/Orientation week

During the first week of the program, the International Relations department will organize Induction/Orientation sessions when students will be provided with all the information required to complete the administrative formalities necessary to make their time in France as stress free as possible.

During the same week, the Office of the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs also organizes meetings and presentations where various Academic Heads of the different specializations present the contents of the modules and the Associate Dean presents the general program overview, the Rules and Regulations of the program.

The two offices work closely together in order to make sure the International Master’s students are able to attend the essential sessions organized by both offices.

The Induction week is also a time for students to get to know their French counterparts, and activities are arranged daily to encourage students to explore Paris and socialize with their new colleagues.

Emergence Incubator

Instituted in 2010 by the Corporate Relations Office, the «Emergence» incubator enables students with a viable start-up project to launch their company as part of their final internship. The incubator spurs on these budding entrepreneurs in a supportive environment, where they can develop the right reflexes and build their project. This involves knowing how to be persuasive, looking ahead, and formalizing and implementing a business plan. They also get personalized mentoring and access to a network of experts.

ESCE’s «Emergence» incubator fosters a spirit of creativity, independence, commitment, sharing, openness and networking, and imbues these values in its entrepreneurs. The incubator is located on ESCE Paris premises and offers start-ups office space where they can work with fellow student entrepreneurs.

Student Associations

All too often international students studying in a foreign country find themselves drawn towards their own compatriots or people with whom they have their native language in common. This holds true for both socializing outside of the classroom as well as when forming study groups and networks within the school.

At ESCE, great emphasis is placed on ensuring that students who wish to participate fully in the cross-cultural experience have every advantage when it comes to integrating into the daily life in France, both inside and outside the campus. We invite all students to exploit these opportunities to get the best experience during the program in France.

ESCE’s clubs and associations offer students the opportunity to undertake concrete projects, manage budgets, and enjoy a multitude of experiences that foster a sense of responsibility and team spirit.

ESCE students compete each year against other top business schools in an international entrepreneurial competition: ENACTUS. ENACTUS is an international nonprofit organization operating in 1,400 universities and schools in forty countries. Over a dozen schools participate in the French competition, presenting their projects in English to a panel of corporate HR executives. All projects must meet strict economic and management criteria with respect for social and environmental responsibility. Both in form and in substance, this experience demands very high professional standards and a strong commitment. ESCE ranked among the top 16 universities & schools in the world out of 1,400 university projects from forty different countries.

Student Council (BDE)

A community federated around one

team

Made up of a team of twenty representatives elected by ESCE students, the Student Council Office (bureau des élèves or BDE) is the interface between students and the school’s administration. The Office coordinates all aspects of student life – sports and cultural associations, international events, competitions, parties and social events, orientation – creating links between classes and helping students feel at home.

Sports Associations

The Office of Sports Associations (bureau des associations sportives or BDS) is the branch of the Student Council Office that manages student sporting activities:

Partnership with Forest Hill – Aquaboulevard

Partnership with the Sports Office at Jean Moulin – Lyon 3 University and with the FFSU (French Federation of University Sport)

The ESCE Theater Company

Made up of first year students, this group of thespians meets for three hours a week all year. Rehearsals culminate at the end of the year with a performance in a Parisian theater. The company is masterfully run by Mr. Mahamoud Shahali, founder of the Théâtre de l’Épopée.

«The ESCE theater company has been great for me. It’s not just fun, I can also see the professional benefits. I’m much more confident now.» Jessica

ESCE Alumni

At ESCE, keeping in touch with our alumni is pertinent part of the school culture. ESCE Alumni is the association consisting of 8,100 graduates of ESCE.

Its main missions are:

To provide a private jobboard. Each year, 1,000 job offers are published by the partner companies, recruitment agencies and also the former students.

To organize networking events or afterwork receptions in the 75 countries where the alumni reside and work. It’s a good way to share professional opportunities or to meet potential associates. To update the alumni’s professional details. Four newsletters

are sent each year which enables our alumni to be aware of the latest news in the ESCE community.

To create a special bond between the school and the Alumni. The Alumni return to the school to give lectures or offer internships to the current students. Every year, some of our alumni also take part in the admission interviews of the high school applicants into the first year of the ESCE Grande Ecole program via the SESAME entrance pathway.
