Zumtobel Lighting Services

Added value thanks to professional service

A consistently efficient high-quality lighting solution comprises several elements: superior lighting quality and optimum energy savings are just as important in this context as are reli-able service and support. Moreover, these elements are subject to unique changes. Just like the organisation, the people there and their methods of working, visual tasks change continuously as well. Lighting and control systems therefore need to adjust their functions to these changes.

The Zumtobel Services are provided for that purpose, securing a lighting solution's high quality and economic viability for many years. The first step in saving energy is a thorough analysis. The required savings are implemented using efficient LED luminaires and intelli-gent lighting systems. By ongoing energy management, these savings are kept at a high level and can even be increased in many cases.

Lighting Performance Platform

In the EU, some 14 percent of all energy consumed are used for artificial lighting, a full 80 percent of which account for professional lighting, while potential energy savings provided by an intelligent and efficient lighting solution, mainly using inno-vative LED luminaires and effective control strategies, are almost as great. The Lighting Performance Platform is an online solution by Zumtobel which provides Zumtobel customers with consumption data of buildings and rooms at a glance. This monitoring tool is perfectly matched to lighting management systems by Zumtobel, monitors energy consumption within a company and shows how to achieve optimum energy efficiency using lighting management.

Maximum energy savings achieved by utilising all potential options 1 Efficient light sources

Operated via an electronic ballast featuring a dimming function, efficient LED luminaires and light sources use the savings potential to optimum effect.

2 Presence detectors

Lighting that is only switched on when it is actually needed is the most frugal of all. Presence detectors make a major contribution to cutting electricity costs.

3 time-based management

By means of calendar entries or daytime entries, the number and burning hours of luminaires that have accidentally been left switched on are reduced.

4 Lighting scenes

By means of application-focused lighting, various visual tasks are taken into account while usually saving energy.

5 Use of daylight

Maximum lighting quality and a major reduction in energy consumption are achieved by using a control system properly based on daylight and appropriate blinds.

Innovative Sunburst diagram

Compared to methods using CAD or layout plans, the innovative Sunburst diagram makes visualisation of the building's efficiency easier and more dynamic. The clear, self-building circular chart features intuitive navigation and automatically adjusts to the room situation. In this way, complete buildings and floors, individual rooms and luminaire groups can be actuated and their energy con-sumption analysed. The size and colour coding of the segments allow for a quick overview of consumption as well as the savings achieved in the building's sections. Based on free selection of the period under review, the Sunburst diagram displays both current consumption as well as the exact data from the past.

LPP calculates energy consumption.

Power consumption can be determined without having to install expensive physical meters. These can, however, be retrofitted upon request.

LPP backs up and protects data.

Using state-of-the-art server installations, Zumtobel and its partners assume responsibility for data security.

LPP provides rapid insight.

Due to the unique, intuitive display of the building and consumption data, problem areas are quickly identified, suggesting a solution within a short time.

LPP helps to reduce energy consumption on a sustainable basis.

LLP does more than just indicate energy consumption. Based on many years of lighting management expertise, we also work out suggestions for optimising the lighting solution.

Energy management cycle

The internationally applicable ISO 50001 Standard specifies the process of sustainable energy management. In order to use energy efficiently, power consumption, its causes and effects need to be permanently monitored and optimised. With the Lighting Performance Platform, LPP in brief, Zumtobel makes these tasks easier, concurrently identifies optimisation potential and helps to provide proof of savings. For LPP customers, Zumtobel additionally carries out the complete system administration – from support and quality assurance through to guaranteed data and IT security.

Lighting Performance Platform system

Day by day, the lighting management system records the complete energy consumption of artificial lighting. The LPP BEETLE transmits this data via a secure IT link to a certified database. Irrespective of the PC hardware used or the operating systems installed, energy consumption data are displayed via personal online access. Periods can be flexibly defined to help with comparisons and analyses.

The complete energy consumption of each individual luminaire including the control components and electronic ballasts is captured via the luminaire settings. In this way, each luminaire works as a separate meter. There is no need to install additional physical meters.

The LPP BEETLE is the heart of the Lighting Performance Platform: it creates the remote access from Zumtobel Service to the customer's installation.

The LPP BEETLE sends the data to a central server where they are saved and displayed.

Personalised alarms and re-portings are optionally available, and additional physical meters can also be installed. The customer is given a personal log-in to access the Sunburst diagram. Secure IT link • 5000 2 years 1 year • 2000 2 years 1 year • 500 2 years 1 year • Remote maintenance

Lighting Management Maintenance

The functions of buildings change continuously, as do the people who work and live in them. This means that the demands made on the lighting solution also change. In order to avoid excessive operating costs or any compromises in terms of lighting quality and safety, the functions and applications of lighting and control systems need to adjust to these changes. The solutions installed in buildings should therefore develop concurrently with the challenges and adjust on an ongoing basis. Regular maintenance and optimisation of the system increase its economic viability, productivity and safety while reducing operating costs and downtimes.

(23)

23

Maximise the economic viability of your lighting solution:

1 Energy efficiency

A properly maintained system is up to 15 per cent more efficient. We focus all our know-how and our skills on en-suring maximum economic viability of your lighting solution.

2 Lighting quality

Demographic changes and ongoing adjustments in terms of office occupancy and room layout present new chal-lenges in terms of lighting solutions. We make sure light-ing quality is constantly kept at the highest possible level.

3 Safety

A properly working lighting installation is an indispensa-ble prerequisite for safety. Regular checks and mainte-nance work are crucial to ensure safety throughout your building.

Training courses

When it comes to saving energy, installing an efficient and intelligent lighting solution is just the first step. Eventually it is the responsibility of the building services as well as each individual staff member on site how much energy is saved and which lighting qualities are actually used.

In order to make sure that all users are familiar with the automatic functions of the lighting system and know how to handle these properly, Zumtobel will come to the customer's premises as a first step, providing a hands-on introduction to the lighting management systems' functions and control units. Knowing how to safely handle the lighting management and emergency lighting installations will give the building services staff the flexibility and efficiency required for daily operation of the systems. At the perfectly equipped training centre, facility managers and system engineers will find the perfect conditions to gain insight into the system and also put what they have learned into practice directly at the equipment.
