Annual Report-2012-13 499 Yenepoya Nursing College was established in the year 2002, under the Islamic Academy of Education. It is a constituent college of Yenepoya University since the year 2009. The college presently offers undergraduate and post graduate courses in nursing namely, B.Sc, Post Basic B.Sc and M.Sc.

The courses offered are recognized by the national and state nursing accrediting bodies, that is the Indian Nursing Council and the Karnataka State Nursing Council. Further, PhD Nursing programme is also offered. The annual intake for the B.Sc (N) is 100, for P.B.B.Sc (N) is 40 and M.Sc (N) is 25 i.e. five in each specialty: Medical Surgical Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Obstetric and Gynecological Nursing, Community Health Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing. The college has state of the art facilities in the five laboratories i.e. Nursing Foundation laboratory, Community Health Nursing laboratory, Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing laboratory and Computer laboratory and Nutrition laboratories. Clinical facilities are provided in the Yenepoya Hospital and in the affiliated hospitals.

To create an environment for the generation of new knowledge through meaningful research, adopting latest methods of pedagogy and incorporating modern principles of academics integrated with highest ethical standards.

To extend the knowledge acquired and new knowledge generated for the development of the community.

topic “Global strategy of Infant and Young Child Feeding” was organized by Department of Community Health Nursing and Pediatric Nursing and Dept. of OBG Nursing on 3rd Aug 2012 at 10 AM in Lecture hall III, YNC. The session was taken by the Ms.Divya, Ms. Renita, Ms Vinayakumary and Ms. Dini. Dr. Juliana Linette D'Sa, Dean Faculty of Nursing was the moderator for the seminar. The programme ended at 11.30 AM

 Awareness programme was organized by IVth year internship students and IInd year odd batch students in Medicine ward of YMCH on 11/4/13.

 Mass health awareness programme through health talk and puppet show was organized in Kotekar PHC by IInd year Odd batch students and IV year internship students on 15/4/13 on theme “Control high BP”.

Achievements of the Department

As a part of world suicide prevention day, a seminar was organized on the theme “suicide prevention across the globe: strengthening protective factors and instilling hope” on 20th September 2012.

World mental health day program was organized along with the department of psychiatry and department of MSW on 10th October 2012.

As a part of international day for elder persons, a Special lecture was organized on 17th October 2012. On 11th April 2013, as a part of World Autism Awareness Day, Department of psychiatric and paediatric Nursing organized a seminar and a movie show on “Autism and its management” at Mini theatre in Yendurance zone.

A guest lecture was organized on Administration and management of psychiatric units on 9th May 2013.
