There are a lot of useful hints and tips, and links to websites; I found these particularly useful in the choosing a career section, the sources of vacancies and the interview sections.

Top universities, top students

I firmly believe that the Guides are a great way for you to target students from your key universities. Unlike many other competing publications, we view this publication as ‘ours’ and one we have a vested interest in promoting and getting into the hands of students.

Gordon Chesterman, Director, Careers Service, University of Cambridge

This year we’ve ordered a record number of copies of the Manchester Careers Guide so we don’t run out so quickly! Students really seem to value the Guide’s comprehensive nature and the practical advice and suggestions.

Natasha Whitfield, Information Assistant, The University of Manchester

The Guide is an important publication for our students and staff and receives excellent feedback. It is made available in schools across the university and the careers service. Staff use it with students during one-to-one appointments and

workshops. We have been impressed with the number using the Guide online, available through our website.

Jackie Thompson, e-Information Manager, Careers and Employability Service, The University of Nottingham

Eight reasons to advertise in the Guides

I used the Guide and really liked the way it covered a range of careers information. This helped me decide on a career and make applications. Attending an assessment centre and interview for the first time can be daunting so being able to read about other people’s experiences, and pick up some useful tips from the articles, was a great help. It’s an easy read and looks good!

Lindsey Willis, Combined Studies, The University of Manchester

Each Guide is consistently rated the most read careers publication on campus in the annual High Fliers student survey

The Guides reach the top 10 per cent of the student population

Build your brand at your target universities

They are cost-effective – choose from a range of

advertising options: from a quarter page profile in a single Guide to a full-on branded display advertising campaign They are equally effective for multinationals

and small regional recruiters

Feedback from employers shows that appearing in multiple Guides can increase your direct applications by up to 10 per cent

A digital version of each Guide is sent to relevant university members on the TARGETjobs database and is now accessible via their own online personal profiles. They are a tangible way to support

Multichannel and multimedia

– how the Guides reach the right students

Each Guide is produced in hard copy and digital versions

Each Guide is distributed to career-minded students via pigeonholing, departmental careers events and personally by careers advisers on a requested circulation basis

Digital versions of the Guide are placed on the university careers services’ own websites

GTI Media emails a digital version of each Guide to relevant university members on the targetjobs.co.ukdatabase

Each Guide is accessible to students from the

15 universities on targetjobs.co.uk

NEWWhen a student registers, or is a member of TARGETjobs,

their own university guide will appear and be accessible via their personal online profile.

With so much careers information available, it can be hard for students to know where to look. Career Insights is a great starting point. Students are always interested to know what alumni have gone on to do. With the mix of profiles and employers represented, students get a sense of both what they can go on to do immediately after graduation as well as what their careers might look like in a few years’ time. In that sense it is both informational and aspirational. They are also keen to see which employers are specifically targeting them so the employer index is very well used.
