With a flexible course structure, this degree will provide you with the core business skills and discipline-based expertise to suit your own needs and career aspirations. Expand your degree

Your degree Your 24-unit business degree is made up of three distinct parts:

Core foundation units – Eight common core units, giving you an introduction to the principles of business. These are typically completed within the first three semesters.

Primary major – Your major is your main area of study for what you aspire to become professionally. Each primary major is made up of eight units and there are nine majors to choose from.

Your pathway to second year of the QUT Bachelor of Business. Available for academically qualified students who do not meet the English language requirements for direct entry

into the Bachelor of Business program. This program is equivalent to two semesters of the Bachelor of Business degree.

Study six core units as well as two English language units. Successful completion of

this program allows direct entry to the second year of the Bachelor of Business degree.

English Requirements: IELTS 5.5 (with sub-scores of at least 5.0).

Duration: 3 semesters full-time

Opportunity to develop depth of expertise in one of 10 study areas.

Build on knowledge from previous studies or change career direction into a range of business professions, even if you have not studied business before. This program is open to students who have a degree in any field. Students with matching bachelor and master majors may be able to complete their course in as little as one year (not available to pathway students).

Master of Business/Master of Business (BS18)

Duration: 4 semesters full-time

A double degree program provides you with the opportunity to qualify as a specialist in two areas of business and earn two masters degrees in just two years. This course is available to students with prior relevant studies.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) (GS75)

Duration: 3 semesters full–time

The QUT MBA develops your executive leadership and decision-making skills relating to the full breadth of a business organisation, operating in a complex world. Options are available to include elective units in areas like leadership or entrepreneurship to extend your base discipline knowledge. Through flexible and innovative subjects, you will develop, along with your cohort peers, the skills essential to becoming a global business professional.

Entry Requirements:Minimum three years full-time appropriate prior work experience; Undergraduate degree (Australian equivalent) with GPA of 4.5 on the QUT 7 point scale; GMAT score at least 550; Two referee reports; English language proficiency IELTS 6.5(6.0).

Master of Business/Master of Business Administration (BS24)

Duration: 4 semesters full-time

You can attain two masters degrees in just two years by combining the breadth of general management knowledge and skills of an MBA with the specialist studies of the Master of Business.

Graduate Diploma in Business (Professional Accounting) (BS79)

Duration: 2 semesters full-time

If you are looking to change your career or enhance your options, this course provides you with a solid core in formal accounting qualifications and ensures you meet the core curriculum component of the academic requirements for membership of CPA Australia. For graduates from non-accounting disciplines.

MBA Rankings

Duration: 4 semesters full-time

Opportunity to extend your Master of Business studies to suit your interests and professional requirements. It may include a research dissertation, further coursework or studies in another business discipline.

Graduate certificate in Business (BS39)

Duration: 1 semester full-time

This program is one-third of the Master of Business. Successful completion may allow articulation to the Master of Business program.

Entry Requirements:Undergraduate degree (Australian equivalent) with GPA of 4.0 on the QUT 7 point scale. Students entering the Master of Business (Accounting) major must have an appropriate accounting degree; English language proficiency IELTS 6.5 (6.0).

Available for academically qualified students who do not meet the language requirements for direct entry into the Master of Business program. Students undertake units from the Masters program concurrently with two

communication units before progressing to the next stage of their program. The communication units count as electives within your program.

The option is available for students in the following majors: Applied Finance, Integrated Marketing Communication,

International Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Strategic Advertising.

English Requirements: IELTS 6. 0 (with sub-scores of at least 5. 0) or successful completion of the QUT EAP or EAP Plus program.

Master of Business (Research) (BS92)

Duration: 3 semesters full-time

Gain skills in research methodology techniques and critical evaluation appropriate to your field of study through a specified program of research under academic supervision.

Doctor of Philosophy (Business) (IF49)

Duration: 3 years full-time

Be challenged to demonstrate academic rigour in a broad field of learning. You will be expected to make an original and substantial contribution to knowledge in the field. You will gain highly developed research and analytical skills, as well as depth of knowledge in your chosen field.

Bachelor of Business (honours) (BS63)

Duration: 2 semesters full-time

Expand your knowledge of research methods and techniques while developing specialist knowledge of your subject through an Honours degree.

Graduate Diploma in Business (Research) (BS69)

Duration: 2 semesters full time

This course provides the basic research training for potential PhD candidates who do not possess the necessary research experience to gain entry into the PhD. It is offered as an alternative pathway, giving you the opportunity to pursue a research career.

SOnAM chOIDEn AnD PhUnTShO chODEn, Bhutan

Sonam, a PhD student and Phuntshao a Masters by Research student are

completing their research degrees within the QUT Business School. Their focus is on investigating their country’s commitment to counting national success in terms of its people’s happiness.

Sonam is focused on public policy in Bhutan and applying econometrics to examine Bhutan’s public policy and happiness outcomes. Phuntsho, based in the School of Economics and Finance, is researching the gender gap in household investment in education and health.

Our Business School is a hub of business research in Australia and we conduct leading business research that delivers real-world outcomes to inform business, industry, government and community. Bringing together academics and research students is an integral part of the QUT Business School’s vibrant research community.

As a QUT Business research student you will refine and develop your ability to undertake research and enhance your critical thinking skills. Duration: 3 semesters+

Structure:

2 semesters of study at QUT+ 1 semester of study at University of Maastricht

Eligibility: Available to Master of Business students studying Marketing or Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC).

Graduate with:

QUT Master of Business (Marketing or IMC) and the University of Maastricht Master of Science in International Business (Strategic Marketing). + Can be reduced by one semester if your

undergraduate degree is in Marketing.

International Double Masters

Graduate with two Masters degrees from triple internationally accredited institutions in the same time it would normally take you to get one.

Using exchange study, you complete part of your degree at one of two leading institutions in Europe, EDHEC Business School in France and University of Maastricht School of Business and Economics in the Netherlands. Through cross-crediting of your course content, you are able to obtain the full degrees from both institutions.
