Computers: All students need access to an alternative computer location when technical problems arise to avoid falling behind in classes. Students using Macs need access to a PC because some classes are not compatible. iPad, iPhone and Droid mobile devices may be used to view class content but are not compatible for submitting Dropbox assignments and doing online exams. Students must have access to a computer for these tasks.
Science Labs: Not all science labs are taught online. Some are taught on the Wahpeton campus or at NDSCS-Fargo during weekends. Students must attend all lab dates to complete the class as there are no make-up sessions. Lab manuals may be ordered from the NDSCS-Wahpeton Bookstore at www.ndscsbooks.com.
NOTE: BIOL 220L and 221L will need lab kits. They can be purchased along with books from the NDSCS Bookstore.
Exams: Proctors may be required for online exams.
Email: A current email address is required for online classes and must be included with your application. All students are required to use an NDSCS email account to access electronic bills and get other communications from the college. Students may activate their account after they register for at least one class.
Apply for Admission: Instructions for admission can be found at www.ndscs.edu under “Get Started!” New NDSCS students will need to pay a one-time application fee of $35. If you are a returning NDSCS student and have had a break in your NDSCS enrollment for one semester or more, complete the Admission Re-Application Form and send it to Enrollment Services to reactivate your NDSCS student record. Please allow at least two weeks to complete the application process. NOTE: Official transcripts from high school (or GED) and colleges must be received before students can register for classes. Please allow sufficient time when requesting transcripts to avoid delays in registration.
Entry-Level Requirements: All NDSCS students must meet minimum ACT or COMPASS test score requirements for English (reading and writing) and Math classes. Contact Distance Education if you need help finding a COMPASS test site near you.
Tuition and Fees: NDSCS charges one flat rate of $190 per credit for online classes, whether you are in-state or out-of-state. This rate is
subject to change without notice. Tuition and fees exclude books, supplies, and additional course and program fees. NOTE: Courses listed that are not taught online will be charged based upon student’s state of residency.
Books:Purchase your textbooks at www.ndscsbooks.com. Some classes also require an access code or a CD which is bundled with the books from our Bookstore for NDSCS classes. Books purchased from another source may not have the correct access code or CD and students may need to purchase the additional item separately. Tutoring: 24/7 online tutoring services are available in certain subject areas. There will be a link to the tutoring site in your online class content.
