“Camphill in Norway”
“A worthy and dignified life for everybody”
The Camphill Village Trust in Norway
50
thanniversary 2016
13th -15th May, Whitsun 2016
The anniversary celebrations will begin in Vidaråsen at Whitsun 2016 with a great village event. Exactly at Whit-sun 50 years ago, the 4 pioneers; Margit Engel, Trygve Thornes, Ivan and Phyllis Jacobsen; celebrated their first Whitsun at Bakke Farm, the property now known as Vidaråsen Landsby(village). In the course of our anniver-sary celebrations, we will review these fifty years, celebrate
the present and share some of our wishes/dreams for the future. In addition to the performance of a “musical” produced by Vidaråsen, there will be an official opening of the new herb and “sensory”, garden and workshop. We will invite guests from the other villagers as well as many of our closest friends.

As an “anniversary gift”, the book: “The Eightfold Path” by Joop van Dam illustrated with photographs of the 8 glass win-dows in Andreasbygget in Vidaråsen has been translated and will be published. In addition it is planned to publish a book with the provisional title “Et verdig liv for alle. Om landsbyen

digni-fied life for everybody»).The intention of the book is to create an image of the past, present and visions for the future from different perspectives, largely through interviews. It is hoped that the book will be published in December 2016 and that Christian Egge, author of two books (Frihetens vilkår og Lev-ende økonomi på Flux forlag), will write the book.

Intentions
We will live together for four days in spacious Holmenkollen Park Hotel. We intend to recreate a village environment and atmosphere with common meals and activities. We hope to put our stamp on the common rooms of the hotel with pictures and art from the villages. The hotel has a large conference room where we can establish a stage. It is possible to divide the room into 3 smaller entities. There are also rooms where conversations, courses and artistic activities can be arranged. You find more information about the hotel here: www.holmenkollenparkhotel.no.
OUR INTENTION:
• With our festival/ conference we hope to create
in the course of a few days a mini village in
Oslo.
• We want to mark our existence in the
commu-nity at large and create dialogue around
impor-tant themes.
• We wish to make our environment and its
qualities known for many of the people who
have never heard of us.
• We want to put our villages on the cultural
map.
• We wish to include as many as possible in
cele-brating this anniversary festival .
HOW TO contribute to create a
community spirit
• How can one communicate something that can
normally only be experienced in a village? Can
we rise to the challenge?
• Holmenkollen Park Hotel can “give a home to
all of us, as well as contribute to create a
com-munity spirit.
• We will endeavour to create “a space”,
influ-enced by the unique and varied people who
live in the villages.
• In the context of the festival, we wish to create
a lively, inclusive environment.
• Create the possibility for interaction and
inno-vative thinking through interesting
conversa-tions/ debates and artistic experiences.
• Invite people- who do not know our villages,
but whom we wish to become acquainted with-
to a village-festival environment.

disabilities.
• How far have we come with the questions of
right to education, free choice of where and
with whom I wish to share my life and other
questions related to the individual?
• What must happen for the UN convention to
have an effect in Norway?
• What is a worthy and dignified life?
