January 15, 2021

Dear Curley Students, Parents, and Families:

We all had high hopes that 2021 would be better than 2020. In the first two weeks of 2021, our nation, has been on a roller coaster ride of change. With so much uncertainty and the speed at which life

changes, we at Archbishop Curley will take measured and patient steps forward. To that end, we will not make a change to our daily class schedule for at least a few more weeks.

As you will see from the information below, our hybrid schedule will be maintained until, at least, the end of February. All expectations for students regarding academics, attendance, dress, behavior, etc. will remain in place as well. Please take note that in weeks with a national holiday or national testing day, the schedule is altered. Those families that have requested their son attend class in a fully virtual mode of instruction will receive an email from me in the coming days. If you do not receive an email, your son has been placed on the in-person list of students and should refer to the calendar below to determine which dates he will attend school in-person. Moving forward, we will determine our schedule for March by mid-February. Please review all of the information below and discuss it with your son to ensure he is prepared.

We will continue to monitor local, state, and national positivity rates as well as stay in contact with Archdiocesan leadership. We, as a Curley Family, have done well to navigate through these changes thus far, and I am sure we will continue to do so in the days ahead. Have faith, and join me in prayer and the belief that the remainder of 2021 will bring positive change for all.

Pax et Bonum,

Brian J. Kohler Principal

ARCHBISHOP CURLEY’S UPDATED

COVID-19 RESPONSE PLAN

• Curley will continue with a full school day (8:15 am - 2:40 pm).

• Curley will maintain the hybrid model, with students whose last names begin A-L usually attending in-person on Mondays and Tuesdays and students whose last names begin M-Z attending in-person on Thursdays and Friday, per the attached calendar. This smaller number of students in the building assists to maintain social distancing and other health protocols. • In weeks with a national holiday or national testing day, the

schedule may be altered. Please refer to the Hybrid Calendar for January and February each week.

• On Asynchronous Days teachers will host office hours. These days also allow time for work on larger assignments.

• We also hope that in the future Asynchronous Days will also be used for special events, including periodic Class Days for which both in-person and virtual students are encouraged to attend.

• The option for a student to remain fully virtual exists. An electronic questionnaire was sent to each family asking them to choose the hybrid or virtual option for their son for the second semester.

• The building will continue to open at 7:15 am, and students who are not involved in an after-school activity should be picked up by 3:15 pm.

• Lunch will be eaten in the Student Dining Room which is arranged with desks for social distancing. Masks may be removed while eating lunch, and while in a desk. A variety of lunch options will be available for purchase. Microwaves will not be available.

• The privilege for Seniors to go outside for lunch will be observed, weather permitting.

• This schedule continues to provide four (4) classes per week (for a full-credit course; 180 minutes) with each teacher. This schedule has each class in the same position each time it meets (the first period class remains the first period class, etc.). • The schedule does not provide for gathering, e.g. community prayer or assemblies, and thus occasional days will be structured in some other format to provide those other activities/outlets.

MODIFIED DRESS CODE:

• Curley will continue with the modified dress code (option of a Curley polo, solid color polo, solid color dress shirt with or without a tie). A plain or black long sleeve t-shirt may be worn under the polo. A student may wear a solid sport coat/blazer or he may also wear a Curley quarter-zip pullover/sweatshirt/hooded sweatshirt (the hood must be down in the building).
