Professional Readiness
o Students will be ready for the professional environment by demonstrating versatility and a professional disposition through their knowledge of current and viable performance-based techniques.
Artistry
o Students will be able to synthesize their knowledge of technical skills, creative imagination and aesthetic knowledge in preparation for performance, emphasizing the elements of musicality, phrasing, and characterization.
Physicality
o Students will execute choreography with clarity, energy, athleticism, and breath, utilizing a basic understanding of anatomical principles and dance alignment.
Disposition
o Students will practice the craft of dance with a disciplines and self-motivated approach. o Student will be able to collaborate and work as part of a team.
o Students will be fluent in dance vocabulary, terminology, and professional standards and protocol.
500501 – Drama (BFA): School of Drama at UNCSA trains talented young men and women to be exciting, versatile and accomplished professionals. The school emphasizes classical values in its training to meet a well-recognized demand for actors to be technically skilled and creatively inspired. The SLOs include:
Professional Readiness
o The student will acquire a working knowledge of the profession and expectations of the industry, including but not limited to audition techniques and etiquette, the current and ever changing uses of technology, casting director and agent relationships, professional protocol in rehearsal and performance situations, maintaining positive professional relationships and advancing a career in an ethical and creative manner.
Critical Analysis
o The student will demonstrate the ability to transform into character by analyzing dramatic material and applying the appropriate learned skills in order to bring that material to a full realization in the acting space.
Technical Skills
o The student will demonstrate kinesthetic awareness by demonstrating dance skills, stage combat skills and theatre movement skills.
o The student will show increased flexibility and range in the vocal instrument using a variety of accents and dialects and by performing in heightened and classical language as well as the incorporation of singing techniques.
o The student will demonstrate the ability to integrate acting techniques and appropriate musical styles in studio and performance projects.
Professional Collaboration
o The student will acquire and demonstrate necessary collaborative skills to work effectively on a professional level in studio and performance projects with directors, fellow actors, stage managers, designers, technicians and all parties who participate in the process of bringing a production to realization.
