2009/10 PROGRAM EVALUATION PLAN CALHOUN COMMUNITY COLLEGE
UNIT PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION: (What is the role of your unit within the College?)
The AS degree is the award conferred on students who wish to transfer to an Alabama senior institution and pursue a Bachelor’s Degree (BS or BA). The AS degree is comprised of five areas intended to provide the student with a foundation of general educations courses in areas I – IV and more specific courses that provide a base in the pre-major area of study (V). Areas 1 – IV include English Composition, Literature, Natural Science and Mathematics and History, Social, and Behavioral Sciences. Area V includes Pre-Professional, Major, and Elective Courses. The AS Degree in Business Administration (Accounting, Business, Economics, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing) includes courses in Area V that provide the student with the knowledge and experiences in Accounting, Business, Economics, Management, Management Information Systems, or Marketing. Suggested courses include Computer Applications, Accounting, Law, Statistics and Math. For guidance in the identification of the specific course requirements in the major or minor, the student should refer to the transfer

The use of the Presentation Exam in CIS146 utilizes all of the components of this competency area.
At least 70% of students will answer at least 67% of the selected questions correctly.
At least 70% of students will score 70% or better on the Presentation Exam. 74.4% of students answered at least 67% of the selected questions correctly. 92.35% of students answered at least 70% of the selected questions correctly. Results of the posttest, for individual students and sections, were disseminated to all ECO231 faculty at the end of each semester. This information was used to revise and improve course instruction.
CIS146 is a computer literacy course taken by most students entering college. A sampling of the course sections were selected to determine the assessment results. This
information was used to revise and improve course instruction.

Cultural Diversity: Students will demonstrate a broader knowledge of the world as a result of their coursework at the college.
Students will apply economic terms and concepts to identify global and cultural socioeconomic differences.
The use of 6 standard questions on the ECO231 posttest which address awareness of generally recognized economic principles and current economic events 70% of students will answer at least 67% of the selected questions correctly. 58.21% of the students answered at least 67% of the selected questions correctly. Results of the posttest for this measure were less than our metric of 70%. These results, for individual students and sections, were disseminated to all ECO231 faculty at the end of each semester. This information was used to revise and improve course instruction.

The AS degree is comprised of five areas intended to provide the student with a foundation of general educations courses in areas I – IV and more specific courses that provide a base in the pre-major area of study (V). Areas 1 – IV include English Composition, Literature, Natural Science and Mathematics and History, Social, and Behavioral Sciences. Area V includes Pre-Professional, Major, and Elective Courses. The AS Degree in Business Administration (Accounting, Business, Economics, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing) includes courses in Area V that provide the student with the knowledge and experiences in Accounting, Business, Economics, Management, Management Information Systems, or Marketing. Suggested courses include Computer Applications, Accounting, Law, Statistics and Math. Results of the posttest for this measure were less than our metric of 70%. These results, for individual students and sections, were disseminated to all ECO231 faculty at the end of each semester. This information was used to revise and improve course instruction. The results of this metric dropped from 64.86% to 52.22%.
