June 11, 2016

Dear Team Captain:

Thank you. You're one of our favorite people. And we mean that.

We’re thrilled to have you as part of the 11th annual Philadelphia campaign for The Dude Hates Cancer!

Thank you for registering a team and for helping us to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

What started as a tiny fundraiser amongst friends has now grown into its own self-sustaining movement - because of you. The Dude spread to Buffalo in 2012, to Los Angeles in 2014, to Cleveland in 2015 and we're hearing rumors that San Francisco is getting started! If you know an abider in another city that would be interested in organizing a Dude, let us know!

Philly’s 2015 campaign raised $60,000, bringing the grand total to over $600,000 dollars since TDHC’s inception. This year marks our 11th year and we hope to make it our best one ever. Our 2016 goal is to add another $75,000 to the tally. Your $300 registration fee has already moved us towards that, but we hope your team will continue to help raise additional money for the cause! Close to 80% of funds raised each year come from personal fundraising efforts by participants! And what makes the Dude great is that most of its donations are in small increments, from friends and family. No donation is too small. Every cent helps.

Fundraising is optional, of course, but if you do raise additional money for the cause, both you and your team will be eligible to win some pretty fantastic prizes:

• Fundraising Raffle – earn one raffle ticket for every $100 raised for chances to win awesome prizes on the day of the tournament in our annual Fundraising Raffle

• Achiever of the Month – prizes awarded to top fundraising individual each month

• Prizes for top 3 fundraising individuals and top 3 fundraising teams overall – announced on 9/24 We’ll provide you with all of the tools necessary, including personal fundraising websites, raffle tickets to sell for our Philly Restaurant Pass, and even a dedicated “Team Support Committee” to help with anything you may need. Details are enclosed in this Welcome Packet.

We’re sincerely thankful for your participation with us and for your efforts towards this very important cause.

Now, let’s go crush cancer, once again!

The Dude abides,

Team Support and Fundraising Ideas

The Dude Hates Cancer has been a success as a result of participants who get

involved and help spread awareness of the campaign and its goals. Did you know that 80% of the funds raised in previous campaigns is from personal fundraising efforts and raffle ticket sales? This means that while your $300 bowling registration fee helps towards our annual campaign goals, we would not be able to reach them without the participants who raise additional money for the cause.

Creating fundraising events can be fun and easy to do, and we’re here to help if you need it. The Team Support committee is available to help with your personal fundraisers, answer any questions you may have, keep you posted on important dates, and generally cheer you on!

Contact any one of us whenever you need to, and in the meantime, below are some fun ideas you can consider.

Fundraising webpage: Personalize your page with a message and photo and share the link via email and social media channels. Friends & family can donate online and easily share the page with others. We can help with any questions.

The Philly Restaurant Pass: Sell raffle tickets – who doesn’t like free, delicious meals? Not to mention, 24 of them! This amazing prize practically sells itself.

Not only is there a Grand Prize, and a 2nd place Brunch Prize, but the participant who sells the top winning ticket also wins a mini Restaurant Pass, too! Your team captain will receive 250 raffle tickets and raffle accounting forms as part of your team’s welcome package. Don’t worry – we have more if you run out.

Host a fundraiser: Everyone loves a party! Past events thrown by participants include: happy hours, dinner parties, yard sales, dance/karaoke parties, quizzo, casino/game nights, golf/cornhole tournaments, eating contests, city tours, yoga sessions, bake sales, and many more. These events can raise several hundred dollars each! The Team Support committee can help you brainstorm ideas and organize your list of must-haves. Also, many of the restaurants/ bars on the Philly Restaurant Pass list would love to host an event – just mention The Dude.

Fundraise at work: Did you know that many companies will match the

donations you receive up to a certain limit? Ask your manager/HR department!

You can also organize events at the office, for ex: “Wear Jeans to Work Day.”

Bring in a Sponsor: For all you networking types, receive a soft credit of $500 toward your team’s fundraising for each secured campaign sponsor referred by the team. The sponsorship proposal can be downloaded on our website.

Social media: Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram to stay in the know and let your online community know you’re fighting cancer with The Dude.

Fundraising sites like mydunktank.com offer free ways to extend your reach.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR FUNDRAISING EFFORTS. YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

P RIZE I NCENTIVES FOR F UNDRAISING

The Dude Hates Cancer is a bowling tournament but also a fundraising competition! Raising additional funds for the cause is optional, of course, but participation makes you eligible to win some pretty fantastic prizes!

Achiever of the Month

Starting immediately after kickoff, the top fundraising individual during each monthly period will be rewarded with an awesome prize, as well as recognition as the TDHC “Achiever of the Month!”

Any funds raised online as well as raffle sales turned in will count as long as it is during the month.

The earlier you get started fundraising, the more opportunities you will have to win.

 Four opportunities to win:

1. Fundraising period: June 1st to 30th 2. Fundraising period: July 1st to 31st 3. Fundraising period: August 1st to 31st 4. Fundraising period: September 1st to 24th

Announcements for monthly prizes and monthly winners will be made on the website and on Facebook.

Top Fundraising Teams

The three teams who raise the most money overall will also receive prizes.

Examples of prizes from previous years include:

The Big Booze Prize – a collection of wine/liquors valued at $300

The Big Beer Prize – five cases of craft beers valued at $192

Bottles of Champagne – two bottles of Moet or Veuve Cliquot

Top Fundraising Individual

The individual who raises the most money overall in the fundraising competition deserves an amazing prize for his/her efforts! Winner will be announced at the tournament. Last year’s prize was generously donated by Herman Miller.

Herman Miller SAYL Chair – Frameless back, unprecedented freedom of movement, beautiful support, and extremely small environmental impact. Value: $624.

The Philly Restaurant Pass: Seller’s Incentive Prize

The Restaurant Pass is an amazing raffle prize we’ve assembled to help you fundraise (a collection of gift certificates to 24 of the city’s best restaurants), but there’s also a Seller’s Incentive to sweeten the pot. If you sell the winning raffle ticket, you win your own prize of 5 local restaurant gift certificates! The more tickets you sell, the better your chances to win.

Notes: The deadline for raising money for the competition is the beginning of your bowling session on September 24, 2016. Money raised after this time will not be included in your total, but will still be

welcomed. Matching donations will not count unless they're received by said deadline. The winning teams and individuals will be announced at the bowling tournament or the night of the event at the after party.
