Specifications for Online Real Time Mission Data Logging & Retrieval System

Introduction:

DRDL is planning to implement unified storage solution (SAN and NAS capability) with storage scalable to at least 144 drives. This will be used by intranet activity like, storing of database, file data, application data, web & email data etc. with 24/7 operational. It is planned for unified storage solution with no single point of failure & with SAN & NAS functionality within the same storage array. Tape Library will be used for having one more copy of the data. Proposed tape library to have inbuilt redundancy like tape drive, power supply. The solution is to provide management facility with front touch screen operational panel & remote management. SAN switches and FC HBAs will be used for servers to storage connectivity. Proposed STORAGE solution should be from the major vendors like IBM, HP, EMC, Fujitsu and NetApp or

equivalent. Proposed BACKUP Hardware solution should be from the major vendors

like IBM, HP, DELL, TANDBURG and Overland Storage or equivalent. Proposed BACKUP software solution should be from the major vendors like IBM -Tivoli, HP -

Openview and DELL – Netvault or equivalent. Proposed SAN Switches should to be

from the major vendors like Cisco and Brocade or equivalent. One onsite engineer has to placed for 1 year at DRDL to maintain storage, storage connectivity, regular backups and administration.

Computer Storage

S. No. Feature Description

1 Storage Controller

The Storage system must have at least two controllers running in an active-active mode with automatic failover to each other in case of one controller failure.

2 Cache required

The system should have 12 GB cache across the two controllers with an ability to protect data on cache if the system fails and it results into controller failure. The cache on the storage should have 72 hrs or more battery backup.

3 Protocols Supported

The storage shall support FCP, iSCSI, NFS and CIFS protocols for use with different applications. Any hardware/software required for this functionality shall be supplied along with it in No Single Point Of Failure mode.

4 Storage Capacity

The storage shall support FC/SAS and SATA based disks simultaneously. The storage shall be supplied with 10.4 TB of net usable data capacity with 8TB on 1 TB SATA HDDs and 2.4TB on 600GB 15K RPM SAS disks, after removing the drives
