Dear student,

thank you for your interest in our university.

The University of Cadiz offers foreign students different possibilities of enrolment

depending on the student’s needs:

 The whole study period in Spain with the purpose to obtain a Spanish

university degree of Higher Education.

 If you have the intention to follow a shorter period in the framework of

an Exchange Programme.

 Like student with the possibility that the studied subjects in the

University of Cadiz will be recognised in the home institution.

The different forms of admission will be explained below. It is noteworthy that most classes at the University of Cadiz are in Spanish.

1.) Regular student

a) If the student have been pre-university studies and have been aproved in its entirety:

Those interested should apply to the "Ministerio de Educación, y Ciencia español" approval and / or validation by the IB in Spain with a request to:

1. Official diploma to be approved.

2. Accredited certification of courses taken in stating the courses taken, grades

and school years in which they were made.

3. Certificate attesting to the nationality of the applicant issued by the

competent authorities of your country.

b) If the student comes from an education system of Member States of the

European Union, European Baccalaureate, International Baccalaureate (Geneva) or the Swiss educational system of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Chinese:

You can access the same conditions as students who passed the General test phase of access to the University (selectivity) without investigation:

1. Petitioning the UNED, the Internet and within the time limits at the

following web address: www.uned.es /accesoUE

2. UNED will be issued a credential that proves you to be admitted and

enroll.

3. For access to qualifications where the number of applications exceeds

the places available, will have to pass the examination of the specific phase of the entrance exam and your letter of admission will be: the classification of the Credential + rating of the specific phase testing.

Applications must be accompanied by the following documents:

1. Certified copy of a document establishing identity and nationality.

2. Certified copy of Title to be approved.

3. Certified copy of the Transcript of the study program (academic years,

curriculum, assignments, grades, hours credit.)

4. Proof of payment of the fee

5. Any document that the competent body may require.

Once granted approval, may participate in the pre-registration process by providing for this:

1. Title approved by the Ministry

2. Document certifying qualifications

3. Passport.

Important:

All documents provided must be authenticated and translated to Spanish.

d) Pre-Order at the University Andaluza chosen:

Students who have access to higher education and wish to pursue courses at the University of Cadiz.

 Documents:

o Certificate of previous studies of the university (transcript).

o Copy of Passport

o Application form.

o Registration form.

o One passport size photograph.

 Pre-Admission deadlines:

o Until 31th May for the academic year and 1st term.

o Until 31th October for subjects on the second term.

 Registration deadlines:

o Until 30th May for the academic year and 1st term courses.

o Until 30th October for the second term courses.

 Registration fees:

o 45€ / UCA credit.

Note:

 The registration as a visiting student at the University of Cadiz has no academic

effects in our institution.

The validity and academic recognition depends on the university.

3.) Exchange student

The University of Cadiz exchanges in the framework of different international and European programmes like Socrates (Europe), or the Cooperation Programme (PCI) between universities (Latin America) a large number of students and teachers. To make those exchanges the universities agreed before in bilateral agreements the exchange conditions to which each partner university will be compromised.

Additionally there are different bilateral agreements between the ministries of Education of the different countries. The interested students, teachers or researchers are usually required to have a previous admission of the University for the Application.

The exchanged students are free of fees and have the possibilities that their studies abroad will be recognised in their home institution. Financial support will be provided by the grant.

To access the doctoral degree requires a type A and the admission of the

department organizes a PhD. The difference between A-level qualifications and a Level I depends on the faculties of doctoral programs and departments and program areas.

The doctorate course has a first part which lasts one year (20 credits UCA) and the second part of research (12 credits). Once both sides approve, the thesis must be made.

5.) Español como lengua extranjera (http://www.uca.es/cslm/cursos-de-español) Centro Superior de Lenguas Modernas.

The work of the CSLM is aimed at enhancing the knowledge of languages to facilitate the growth of international trade, recycling linguistic or technical or scientific translation and interpretation in various forms.

The CSLM is a center within walking distance, it organizes their activities at all campuses of the UCA, in order to enrich cultural social and economically to all provincial community.

The center currently runs three basic activities: the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language, language courses and methodology courses for teaching Spanish as a foreign language.

In parallel, the CSLM is involved in the Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign

Language (DELE). These diplomas are official qualifications certifying levels of

competence and mastery of the Spanish language, granted by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain.

Diploma de Español Nivel A1 (Starter level): This qualification attests to

sufficient linguistic ability for a very basic range of the most commonly simple expressions used in the Spanish-speaking world and in order to satisfy inmediate needs of a concrete type.

Diploma de Español Nivel A2 (Waystage or Elementary level): This

qualification attests to sufficient linguistic ability for understanding a basic range of the commonly simple and immediate relevance of expressions used in the Spanish-speaking world (basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).

Diploma de Español Nivel B1 (Inicial / Beginner level): This qualification

attests to sufficient linguistic ability for understanding and responding appropriately in most normal day-to-day situations and for expressing desires and needs in a basic way.

Diploma de Español Nivel B2 (Intermedio / Intermediate level): This

qualification validates sufficient linguistic ability to get by in average day-to-day situations in normal communication circumstances, which do not require specialized use of the language.

Diploma de español Nivel C1: At this level, users are expected to be able to use

the structures of a language with ease and fluency. Users are able to adapt their language use to a variety of social situations, and express opinions and take part in discussiones and arguments in a culturally acceptable way.

Diploma de Español Nivel C2 (Superior / Proficiency level): This qualification

accredits the necessary linguistic competence to integrate in situations requiring an advanced use of the language and knowledge of the cultural customs embedded within it.

The University of Salamanca collaborates with the Instituto Cervantes in the development of the examinations and in the marking of the examination papers.
