Norwalk 2.0

Contact: Jackie Lightfield & Maribeth Becker Phone: 203.854.9512

Web: http://norwalk2.org/

Norwalk 2.0 is a community and economic development organization aimed at bringing people back to the heart of Norwalk’s downtown. Becker and Lightfield founded Norwalk 2.0 in the summer of 2010 to address needs in Norwalk after extensive work as civic lead-ers.

Linking the past with the future, the project received $65,000 in grant funding support from the Department of Economic and Community Development, Connecticut Office of the Arts, a federal agency (DECD Office of the Arts), as part of the Arts Catalyze Placemak-ing (ACP-3) Arts Leadership Implementation grant program.

Norwalk 2.0’s goal is to expand throughout Norwalk’s central business district in 2013, supporting the work of artists and Norwalk’s business community at the same time. In 2013, the team opened POP City 68 at Wall Street. POP City is a non-profit initiative trans-forming vacant real estate into new, temporary creative spaces where art, stratups and creative economy energy fill retail spaces to excitement and additional foot traffic in downtowns.

Recently, Lightfield announced plans for coworking space near the Norwalk Police Sta-tion. A lease has been signed and plans will be announced shortly.
