elcome! I am glad you are here on Christmas to join us in worship in the celebration of the

Eucharist (Mass). The Church holds most sacred the memorial of Christ's birth and so gathers

to celebrate the Eucharist – to hear the Word of the Lord, to pray for the world's needs, to

of-fer the sacrifice of the Cross in praise and thanks to God, to receive Christ Jesus in communion, and then to

be sent forth in the Spirit as disciples of the Gospel. If you are not familiar with the Mass, the Order of the

Mass can be found on pages 3-29 of the Breaking Bread hymnal. We call particular attention to the text of

the Gloria and the Nicene Creed located on the inside cover. The scripture (Bible) readings for Christmas

Eve can be found on page 47 and for Christmas Day on page 51. Please review this special Christmas

bul-letin for information about the various ministries created from our approved pastoral plan for 2016-2019,

and ways to stay informed about our parishes and their activities. May God, who willed that the great joy

of his Son’s saving Birth be announced to the shepherds by the Angel, fill your mind with the gladness he

gives and make you heralds of his Gospel. Fr. Scott

As Welcome Ambassadors, we are the faces of hospitality at Mass and at the Sacraments. We assist

the priest as well as coordinate and support the families and their guests as the "go to person" if

there are any questions.

In 2018 our mission is:

Hosting “Entertaining Angels” - A Hospitality Workshop on March 3, 2018 that will be

open to all.

To increase the number of Greeters to join our ministry.

Hosting the “Coffee, Conversation, and Calories” monthly social after the 10:30 a.m. Sunday

Mass, beginning January 14, 2018.

Preparing “Welcome Packets” for new Parishioners.

Creating and obtaining signs that assist visitors around the Church campuses.

Increasing the number of books available in church for children to use during the Mass.

Our dream is to have enough greeters, both families and individuals, to be at all the Masses every

weekend. The only requirement is a smile with a welcome message.

May the blessing of the Christmas Season smile down on you.

Parishes.

Dear Friends and Parishioners of Holy Family and Star of the Sea Parishes,

As we celebrate the Christmas season, the MFO team would like to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who helped us make the Christmas care package drive a success. The CCD students made beautiful homemade cards and pictures. The Confirmation classes and volunteers donated their time to help assemble and prepare care packages. The parishioners generously donated items and helped pay for postage. As a result of everyone’s efforts, we were able to send a care package to every service member on our list, sponsor two overseas units in Kuwait and Afghanistan, and provide support to the local veteran’s center.

We are truly grateful for everyone’s contributions, time, and prayer.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas! May your holiday season be filled with peace, love, and joy.

God Bless,

The Military Family Outreach Team
