WELCOME

Dear friends,

In the season of Lent, there are three commonly practiced disciplines of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Prayer, of course, strengthens our relationship with the Lord. Fasting puts the focus on what is truly needed for our Christian discipleship and what can easily distract us from it. Almsgiving helps us practice charity to become more aware of the needs of others.

As you consider your personal Lenten disciplines for this year, I hope you will also consider participating in these and other Lenten disciplines.

I would also suggest that people join us for our online Mid-week Lenten services on Wednesday nights, read a Lenten Devotional (they are available outside the church gates or in Pastor’s email), and make Holy Week a special time to reflect and remember our Lord’s great love for us.

I have no doubt that if you make these Lenten disciplines a part of your Lenten journey that you will be richly blessed. And I believe your celebration of the Easter season will be even richer.

Have a blessed Lent!

In Jesus—the best place to be,

the Holy Spirit.

People: Amen. SALUTATION

Pastor: The Lord be with you.

People: And also with you. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION

Pastor: I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.

People: You are a hiding place for me; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with shouts of

deliverance. O Lord, have mercy upon us and forgive us all our sins.

Pastor: Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore announce the forgiveness of all your sins in the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit.

People: Amen.

SCRIPTURE READING I Peter 1:22–25 Reader: Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for

“All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.”

And this word is the good news that was preached to you. Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.

PRAYER

LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth

as it is in heaven;

give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses

as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom

and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

BENEDICTION

SONG OF PRAISE “Blessed Be Your Name”

Blessed be Your name, In the land that is plentiful Where Your streams of abundance flow,

Blessed be Your name And blessed be Your name,

When I'm found in the desert place Though I walk through the wilderness, Blessed be Your name

Chorus:

Every blessing You pour out, I'll turn back to praise And when the darkness closes in, Lord still I will say Blessed be the name of the Lord, Blessed be Your name Blessed be the name of the Lord,

(7)

Blessed be Your name, When the sun's shining down on me When the world's all as it should be, Blessed be Your name And blessed be Your name,

On the road marked with suffering

Though there's pain in the offering, Blessed be Your name

Chorus Chorus 2:

Blessed be the name of the Lord, Blessed be Your name Blessed be the name of the Lord,

Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away, You give and take away

My heart will choose to say, Lord blessed be Your name

Repeat Chorus 2
