About Us

Non Solis Nobis – Not for Ourselves Alone. Our motto holds as true today as it did when the Life Underwriters Association of

Canada — now Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada — was founded in 1906.

Advocis, the oldest and largest voluntary professional association for financial advisors and planners in the nation, fosters professionalism, raises standards for financial advisors and planners, and protects consumers. The association also supports groundbreaking research, promotes the value of financial advice, and works frequently with decision-makers and the public to maintain the reputation of our profession.

More than 11,000 advisors and planners in 40 chapters across Canada belong to Advocis. Our members adhere to the highest professional standards through an established Code of Professional Conduct, uphold best practice standards, participate in mandatory continuing education programs through the Advocis Learning Centre, and maintain appropriate levels of liability insurance.

Professional financial advisors and planners are essential to the Canadian economy. At Advocis we are working to create an environment in which all financial practitioners sustain the strongest principles, and Canadians have access to the advice they need.
