Project Description

ATS provides a straightforward way to manage each asset while maintaining a history of all transactions. The ATS application takes on the familiar look and feel of our other software systems at GigaTrak. This design limits the amount of time it takes for someone to “learn” how to use the system. The following screenshot provides a general view of our ATS in operation.

The GigaTrak ATS system allows users to create their own Classifications and Types of equipment allowing the best options for searching and location equipment. It can also track equipment by Facility, Location, Condition, Model, Serial Number, Funding Source, Account and more! All versions maintain a complete history of each check out/in transaction as well as changes to specific record settings. documentation and images can also be tracked. Our SchoolEdition includes the ability to track up to three additional Members groups for recording assets assigned to staff, students, faculty or any other user assigned member types.

A mobile handheld system also allows the user to separate from a PC workstation and perform various transactions away from the host. This includes performing a Check Out, Check In, Audit of a location or person, Count Bin or Identify an asset/tool. Using “batch” handheld computers, the user can scan barcode transactions and later download the data to the host via Active Sync. Multiple handheld computers can be use to perform transactions. Each is then synced as described. Since all records are date and time stamped, the system does not care about the order of downloading.

ATS is designed to run on any standard Microsoft Windows client server network. It uses a Microsoft Access database for standard implementations, while Microsoft SQL Server can be used in larger implementations with a 5-user Express edition available for download from Microsoft at no cost. Hardware Systems

Label Printing

GigaTrak can offer several barcode label printer options with the ATS software. Typically, we recommend a two-inch wide Zebra label printer to print barcoded information. The proposed printer is a desktop thermal transfer printer designed for average daily use. Thermal transfer printers use a ribbon on either a paper-based or poly based label media. GigaTrak recommends that a polyester label stock be used in the 2” x 1” format. This printer can then be used for employee, location and asset labels.

If more advanced and durable labels are desired, pre-printed designs are available. Labels can be made of aluminum and self-destructing materials if desired. Color options are also available. One option includes the use of a small 2-dimensional (2D) aluminum barcode label that can be placed

on a handgun or other small asset/tool. The “Dot” label (shown enlarged) is aluminum and actually only 3/8” in diameter. This label is one of the smallest possible while still being readable. Consider larger labels when possible to improve readability when scanning.

Handheld Computers for Check-Out/In and Audits

The proposed batch handheld computer is from Honeywell. The PDA style Windows CE handheld requires a USB port and Microsoft Active Sync (or later version free from Microsoft) installed and running on the host PC. This unit offer near Windows power on a handheld device, but typically require more training and support. A 1D or 2D scanner is included. Our ATS handheld license is included with the unit when purchased. The unit shown at the right is the standard handheld provided in the ATS bundle and it includes a 2D scanner. Should an alternate unit be desired, GigaTrak can assist in the selection of a unit best suited for your environment.

Optional Corded Barcode Scanner

A corded scanner works great when performing over-the-counter transactions or transactions connected to a laptop running on the network. The scanner is connected via a USB port for input. These low cost scanners make it easy to check out equipment using a PC workstation running ATS.

Alternate Option – GigaTrak Tool Tracking System

The GigaTrak Tool Tracking System (TTS) is an extension of our ATS. The TTS functions in the same manner as ATS but adds some additional features that may be of benefit. Most notably, TTS supports multiple facility storage locations where materials can be transferred between each facility. In addition to other features, TTS also includes a Tool Master designed to manage data more uniformly throughout all users. For more information, please contact GigaTrak.

Terms and Conditions

Steiner/GigaTrak accepts Visa, MC and AMEX. Corporate POs will require submittal of a Credit Application. All payments are due net 10-days from delivery. Late payments are subject to a 1.5% per month finance charge. Delinquent accounts are subject to additional collection, legal and court costs incurred. All GigaTrak software is copyrighted by GigaTrak and thus protected by U.S. copyright laws.

Licensing and Warranty

GigaTrak retains ownership of all intellectual property used in the development of our software systems. We will provide user and network licensing with each order for the system purchased. You cannot transfer, distribute nor resell any software provided by GigaTrak without our express written permission. You are liable to GigaTrak for each occurrence of unlicensed usage that exceeds the purchase agreement. See the attached agreement for further information.

Annual Support Agreement

Beyond the initial support period, GigaTrak recommends that our Annual Support Agreement be purchased. The Annual Support agreement provides unlimited telephone support from 9am to 5pm Central time Monday through Friday. It also includes all standard upgrades issued by GigaTrak (minimum 3 per year) during the term of the Support Agreement. Network and Site Licensing Agreements are available. Software License Agreement

GigaTrak, an Illinois corporation (“GigaTrak), grants to you (“Licensee”) a exclusive, non-transferable (except as otherwise specifically provided herein), perpetual license to use the Software (as herein defined) solely for Licensee’s internal use, limited to only one PC owned by Licensee (unless otherwise agreed upon in writing by GigaTrak). The Software consists of GigaTrak’s proprietary standard software modules and tools, known as Tool Tracking System (TTS), and includes all tangible and intangible portions thereof, including without limitation machine readable object code, user manual and other documentation, the look and feel of the software operation, and ideas and concepts contained therein (herein collectively referred to as the "Software").

Neither this License Agreement nor any of the rights or obligations contained herein shall be assigned, subleased or otherwise transferred, whether voluntarily, involuntarily, in bankruptcy, by operation of law or otherwise, by Licensee without the written consent of GigaTrak, which consent shall not unreasonably be withheld, except to an entity controlled by, controlling or under common control with Licensee or to any purchaser of or successor to all or substantially all of Licensee’s business; and any attempted assignment, sublicense or transfer to the contrary shall be null and void and of no effect. All portions of the Software constitute confidential proprietary information and trade secrets belonging or licensed to GigaTrak. Licensee shall treat all portions of the Software as confidential and shall not in any manner disclose or make available all or any portion of the Software to any third party. Licensee shall not copy any portion of the Software, whether on computer media, hard copy, or otherwise, except as may actually be necessary for back-up or archival purposes for Licensee’s use of the Software. Licensee shall not remove any copyright notices included in the Software and shall reproduce the notices on any copy Licensee may make of any portion of the Software and on the Software transfer and storage media. Licensee will not, and will not permit others to, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer any portion of the Software. Licensee may be liable to GigaTrak for up to ten times the current license fee (or as limited by state or local laws) of the Software for each occurrence of unlicensed usage that violates this License Agreement. This does not preclude potential liability for copyright infringement and other legal claims.

Limitations on Warranty and Liability

GigaTrak warrants to Licensee that for a period of ninety (90) days from and after shipment of the Software to Licensee, or such longer term as stated on the Cover Page hereof and paid for by Licensee (the “Warranty Period”), all media on which delivered copies of the Software is recorded will be free from defects in materials and workmanship. GigaTrak's sole and exclusive obligation under this warranty, and Licensee’s sole and exclusive remedy therefore, shall be, at GigaTrak’s option and free of charge to Licensee, to repair or replace any item of computer media returned to it by Licensee within the Warranty Period that GigaTrak reasonably determines to be defective in breach of the foregoing warranty. This warranty does not cover misuse, abuse, neglect, damage incurred during shipping or storage, or any modifications by anyone other than an authorized representative of GigaTrak.

Except as expressly provided herein, GIGATRAK MAKES NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND OR NATURE WHTTSOEVER WITH RESPECT TO THE SOFTWARE, THE USE OF THE SOFTWARE OR ANY MATTER RELATING THERETO, AND ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, INCLUDING SPECIFICALLY BUT WITHOUT LIMITATION THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE HEREBY DISCLAIMED. Licensee acknowledges that the Software may not satisfy all of Licensee’s requirements and its operation may not be uninterrupted or error free, and that GigaTrak disclaims any warranties with respect thereto. Licensee further acknowledges having investigated the Software to its satisfaction and has determined to its own satisfaction that the Software as described in the associated documentation

is suitable for its purposes, and that the correctness and usability of the output of the Software is Licensee’s sole responsibility.

GigaTrak's sole and exclusive aggregate monetary liability to Licensee for any matter arising out of this License Agreement, the Software, or the use of the Software in any manner, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, and regardless of the nature of the claim or form of action relating thereto, shall be in no event more than the license fee paid by Licensee hereunder. Notwithstanding the foregoing, GigaTrak shall not be liable to Licensee for damages for injury, including death, to any person or for any claims of any kind by a third party.

IN NO EVENT SHALL GIGATRAK BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER FORESEEN OF FORESEEABLE (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION FOR ANY LOSS OF BUSINESS OR PROFITS), EVEN IF GIGATRAK WAS AWARE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, AND REGARDLESS OF WHETHER SUCH CLAIM IS BASED UPON THEORIES OF CONTRACT OR TORT (INCLUDING STRICT LIABILITY).

The Software and included documentation is subject to change. GigaTrak reserves the right to update, modify and enhance the Software and documentation without notice.
