Quilty as Charged, Denise

.

What’s that Madam President ?

My Dear Friends……..

I live in a deciduous forest and in winter it is bleak and bare. Now the trees are in full foliage and I know summer and sunshine and warm weather are here! I celebrate the beautiful green shady trees all around our home. This makes being stuck at home so much nicer. I am sure many of us quilters were running out of interesting things to do…….then along comes our May CCQ newsletter with TWO exciting new challenges to spice things up a bit. I can never resist a challenge and I tackle them with creative abandon. I do know that others of you head for the hills when they see one and choose not to participate. It is a choice, after all. I have already made 3 mystery quilts and have enjoyed every step along the way. I’m proud to say I completely finished them and even hand quilted one to use as a couch quilt. Another one went to my great niece as a gift for her high school graduation. (I must add here that she just graduated from UC Davis Summa Cum Laude! Maybe sleeping under her quilt inspired her to complete her studies to earn this award.)

Not being able to shop for new fabrics except online, I have vowed to use only my stash for this new Mystery Quilt. I picked a totally different color scheme than I usually go with to add a whole new look to this project. Next, I really had to pick my brain to come up with a good idea for the Bucket List Quilt design. Hmmmm….. but, I did finally come up with a fun theme to create it. So, I hope these two projects will encourage you all to stretch your creative abilities so we will have lots to exhibit at our upcoming show. Everything is still in limbo for the time being regarding this.

Whenever this social dstancing rules are lifted, we will convene once again and continue to share our love for all things fabric. Till then, accept with joy the new challenges presented to us to help while away the hours. Happy stitching to you all!

A Little Message

From Our

Vice-Presidents …

Hi,

everyone. Well, there isn’t much to report as things are getting cancelled and

pushed back every time we turn around. I have the checks or cash for everyone

who has signed up for classes that have been cancelled. Please contact me with

instructions on what you want me to do with them, return them, shred them, etc.

Wednesday NCQC is hosting a Zoom* meeting about guilds having meetings,

classes, lectures via Zoom and other online venues. I hope to gain a lot of insight

and to move forward with online lectures and/or meetings for us. I welcome all of

your input on this. Please call me at 209-298-0659 or email me at

[email protected].
