Online Application Guide

Cambrian College Awards Program

Cambrian College is pleased to welcome you to the online application system for our Awards program! This system will make the process of applying for awards easier and give students more control over their application process until the award deadline.

Our online applications system is based on each applicant creating an individualized User Profile. This contains all the information that is required to be considered a potential recipient. You must create a User Profile in order to apply for any award(s) online.

To create a User Profile, please follow the steps below:

1. Go to the Cambrian College website at www.cambriancollege.ca/studentawards and click on the “Awards Search” banner.

(2)

2. Click the “Login” link at the top of the Awards Search page.

3. If you do not have an account, you must create one. Click the “Create an Account Now” link.

Note: If you have already created an account but forgot the password, please go to the ‘Retrieve Password’ link.

(3)

4. Complete all information on the “Create Account” screen including reviewing the Fuel to Learn Terms of Service.

(4)

6. You will be sent an email to the address you specified during Step 4. This email will provide instructions on how to activate your account. Access your email account and open the email with the subject “Fuel to Learn Account Activation”. This email will provide a link to activate your account.

Note: If you cannot find the link, please look in your Junk Mail folder for an email from [email protected]

7. Clicking the link in the activation email will bring you back to the Login page where you can sign in.

(5)

8. You must now complete your User Profile before applying for any awards. Please Note: Make sure you update your account with your student number!

9. Get a piece of paper and a pen. You should write out all the budget dollar amounts you have entered (ie. Monthly income, etc.) in case your screen times out and you have to redo it!!!

You must complete all information in the User Profile Application prior to the award deadline in order for the application to be considered complete. Failure to complete the application in full could result in your application being disqualified.

However, at this stage, you are only required to complete those fields that are marked with an asterisk (*).

Please make sure that you have completed the application profile for your four or eight month school year (whichever is applicable), and that it reflects your situation as it appears right now. Example: If you have a part-time job and you bring in $400 a month in pay, you must multiply that by the 4 or 8 months to give the dollar amount for income. Therefore, you would enter $1,600 or $3,200 in the income box.

Please Note:

You have right up until the application deadline to complete the remaining fields on the application. You can also change your information at any point before the application deadline.

10. Very important step: At the bottom of the page, you will notice two separate terms and condition areas: Applicant’s Consent to Release Information and Declaration, as well as, Notice of collection of Personal Information. You MUST click YES for both, or it will not save your User Profile and you will have to redo all the numbers.

(6)

11. When you have completed entering or editing your information, click the “Save” button at the bottom of the application.

(7)

13. Conduct an awards search by ONE of the following methods: a. Selecting the School that your program of study falls under; b. Specifying the award name or number (if known);

c. Selecting an existing classification group (only one at a time) d. Search all

14. Review the award list to determine what awards you would like to apply for. To add an award to your User Profile, click the “Apply Online” button at the bottom of the award description. Suggestion: have a piece of paper ready beside you to write down the name of the award, and if you need supporting documentation which can be viewed under the ‘Documentation

Required’ title. Remember, if your supporting documentation is not in then your application is ineligible.

(8)

15. Whether the award that you are adding requires any supplemental information or not

(signature, essay, letter of reference, etc.) you will be asked to confirm that you understand the requirement before the award is added to your profile. You should email all supplemental documentation to [email protected]

16.Hint: To get back to the last award you were looking at, simply click the Back arrow TWICE to return to where you left on in the awards list.

(9)

17. To review the list of awards that you have added to your profile, click the “My Account” link at the top of each page.

Then, click the “Applications” link under the “My Awards” section.

All awards that you have applied or started an application for will be listed. Note that this includes all the awards you have applied for over each year so you will need to note the ‘Date Created’ for all the awards you have applied to this year.
