11 January 2021 Dear Parents

Re: 2021 Primary 5 Calendar of Events for Term 1

We hope your child has had a good start to 2021. We are pleased to share with you the key programmes and events in Term 1.

1. P5 Leadership and Adventure Day Camp

The P5 students will attend the P5 Leadership and Adventure Day Camp in Term 1 Week 8 where they will learn important life skills and values. This non-residential 3-day camp aims to foster strong peer support and build teamwork amongst the students. It will be held during curriculum hours. More details will be shared at a later date.

2. Co-curricular Activities (CCAs)

All CCAs are conducted on Thursdays, after school hours. In Term 1, CCAs will start on

4 Feb (Thu) and the subsequent sessions will be conducted in Weeks 7, 8 and 10. More

information on CCAs will be provided at a later date.

3. Enrichment and Remediation Programme (ERP)

The P5 ERP (for selected students) will be conducted after school hours from

Term 1 Week 3. Consent forms will be issued to these students by the respective

teachers-in-charge before the start of the programme. Details are listed in the table below.

2 4. Chinese New Year Celebration

On 11 Feb (Thu), the school will usher in the Chinese New Year with exciting festive activities. All students are to report to school in their school uniform by 7.30am. Students will be dismissed at 10.10am. Students do not have to bring their school bags and books on that day. Instead, they should bring their water bottles, stationery and other essential items in a small bag.

Please note that the school will be closed on 12 Feb (Fri) and 15 Feb (Mon). Students are to report back to school on 16 Feb (Tue).

5. Take 5!

All students will have a 5-minute break daily from 11.55am to 12pm to re-energise and have a snack. In line with our school’s efforts to promote healthy eating, students are encouraged to consume healthy snacks, such as bread, bananas, raisins, cereal bars, whole-grain biscuits or cookies, in class during Take 5!. Please refrain from packing meals, such as rice/ noodles, or unhealthy snacks, such as sweets and deep-fried food.

During Take 5!, our students will also be involved in daily cleaning activities where they will work together to clean their classrooms after their snack break. Daily cleaning is part of the school’s Green Citizenship efforts to inculcate personal and social responsibility in all our students and cultivate good life habits in them both in school and at home.

6. Communication between Parents and School

Our teachers look forward to working closely with you to support the learning and development of your child. If you would like to contact the teachers to find out more about your child’s progress, please refer to the contact list on page 3. You may make an appointment to meet the teachers through email, write your request for an appointment in your child’s Student Handbook, or call the General Office at 6269 6193.

As the Assistant Year Head for Upper Primary, I oversee all programmes and matters related to the holistic development of our P5 and P6 students. Specifically, I work with the form teachers to provide stronger socio-emotional support for all students. Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries about the school’s plans and programmes for the P5 level.
