The talento plus annual time switches are easy to install and assist the installer with many useful functions. Thus, an illuminated display ensures easy operation. A special service function shows the maintenance status of the connected installations, thus guaranteeing problem-free and speedy maintenance. The devices are protected from undesired manipulations by means of a PIN code. The code is defined by the installer during configuration. Attached to the front of the device is a battery compartment, which allows easy replacement of the battery.

The time switches are additionally equipped with an external control input that allows an external switch to be connected to the timers. With this external switch (for example a light switch) the respective application can be switched on manually and be switched off automatically either after a previously defined time frame (count down timer) or at the next OFF-command of the stored ON/OFF program. Compared with talento 892 plus, talento 992 plus has an additional antenna connection for a GPS or DCF77 antenna.

The versatile annual time switches talento 892 plus / talento 992 plus impress with variable communication technologies. The devices equipped with 800 memory spaces can be expanded to include additional talento CE plus channel extensions, to give a mini control system of up to eight channels. talento 892 plus / talento 992 plus communicate with the channel extensions via GPL Powerline and thus do not need any additional wiring. Data are reliably transmitted between the annual time switch and the channel extension over a distance of 50 m.

The talento LAN plus module can be used to conveniently transmit switching programs created or changed by means of the talento dialog plus software to the annual time switch via a local network or Internet from a PC. Data transfer between LAN module and annual time switch is effected by Powerline Communication.

Problem-free data transmission between the annual time switch, the channel extensions and the LAN module via the mains is ensured by the Powerline GPL communication protocol, which was specifically developed for the application and transmits data in the narrow band.

Yearly time switches are used in many areas such as lighting technology (street, advertisement, shop window lighting), in commercial applications, building technology and pump and swimming pool control and offer a high degree of flexibility.

The newly developed talento LAN plus module establishes the connection between the annual time switch and a local network or the Internet.

A program created on the PC with the talento dialog plus software can be transmitted to the LAN module without problems via a LAN network or the Internet and then via Powerline to the annual time switch. In addition to that, the LAN module also has a service function. Thus,

for example, it informs the user via e-mail of possible faults, power failures, low battery status or activities such as summertime/wintertime changeover and faulty or correct program transmissions of the annual time switch. A particular advantage of data transmission via the LAN network or via internet is that all program entries and service functions can be controlled conveniently from the desk or from a control center. This avoids long travel times, allowing the working hours to be used more efficiently.

The modem used has the following characteristics: • Modulation: FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) • Transmission frequency: 132.5 kHz

• The Powerline interface is compliant with Cenelec C band, EN50065 • Maximum distance between the annual time switch and the channel

extensions and LAN module: 50 m

In this example, channel 1 of the annual time switch talento 892/992 plus controls the ON/ OFF switching of the automatic door mecha-nism of the main entrance. Channel 2 of the same time switch controls the water fountain in front of the office building. Connected to the annual time switch through Powerline communication, channel 3 and 4 of the channel extension “talento CE plus A” switch the lighting control of the first floor. Channel 5 and 6 (channel extension talento CE plus B) control the lighting in floor 2 whereas channel 7 and 8 (channel extension talento CE plus C) of the system switch the lighting in floor 4. In this application example, the talento CE plus modules can be placed in different switch cabinets in different floors (with a distance of max. 50 meters from the time switch talento 892/992 plus).

By means of an ASTRO program, the time switch talento 892 plus controls the external lighting in the garden. The channel extension talento CE plus switches with one channel (here channel 3) the pool pump and with the other channel (in this example channel 4) the lighting system of the pool. In this example, the channel extension talento CE plus is also placed in a different switch cabinet than the annual time switch talento 892 plus.

The talento plus TOP series was developed for special requirements and applications. Due to its problem-free expansion of 2 channels to a mini control system of up to 8 channels, Grässlin‘s talento plus TOP with its annual and weekly programs satisfies all demands. A storage capacity of 800 spaces offers a high degree of flexibility. All commands are controlled centrally via talento 892/992 plus. The switching commands are passed on to the channel extensions talento CE plus via the Grässlin Powerline GPL protocol. The Powerline communication allows the modules to be placed flexibly at different locations at a distance of up to 50 meters from the yearly time switch. Each current switching status is displayed by the channel extensions.

Different program types, such as ON / OFF, cycle or pulse, allow the user to individually combine different switching programs. Apart from the Override function, talento 892 plus and talento 992 plus have a Fix ON / Fix OFF manual switch and a random function, which simulates presence in the building when the user is absent. Moreover, a countdown timer can be activated via an external input.

An integrated hour counter registers the operating hours, while a pulse meter registers the switch-on frequency of the external input. Analyses allow the exact energy consumption to be determined, with the aim to regulate consumption according to need. If the annual time switch is connected to the LAN network or the Internet via talento LAN plus, the operating hours and the current status of the time switch and of the channel extensions can be displayed clearly on the PC. The Override function can also be simply activated on the PC, of course in addition to being controlled manually at the device. Another advantage of LAN communication is its regular time synchronization, which ensures that the exact time is displayed.

The channel extensions talento CE plus allow the annual time switch to be expanded to a complete mini control system of up to 8 channels. The connected channel extensions receive their switching commands via the Grässline Powerline GPL protocol. This allows the talento CE plus to be mounted in different switch cabinets at a distance of up to 50 m from the main unit. The switching status is displayed on the channel extension. Main functions:

Worldwide uncomplicated communication

The talento LAN plus module supports problem-free programming of annual time switches and their extension channels via PC. With assistance from the talento dialog plus software, the program is conveniently generated on the PC and transmitted via the local network or the Internet to the LAN module and further via Powerline to the annual time switch. To connect to the Internet, the LAN module must be connected to a router or switch. Each unit has an MAC address that clearly identifies the LAN module in the Internet. The integrated web server is protected from unauthorized access and manipulation by a password.

Webserver

The integrated web server offers more security and a high degree of flexibility for the user. The statuses of the annual time switches as well as the corresponding channel extensions can be read back at any time and changed at will into AUTO, Override ON or Override OFF. Via e-mail, the user can receive information on possible faults, power failures, low battery status or activities such as summertime/wintertime changeover and faulty or correct program transmissions of the annual time switch.

Configuration

This page allows you to tune the talento LAN plus module to the existing network and thus control the annual time switch talento 892/992 plus and the associated talento CE plus channels.

Installation status

Here the status of talento 892/992 plus, talento CE plus, and operating hour meter of the individual channels (up to 99999.9 h) is displayed.

The programs for the annual time switches can be created conveniently on the PC using the associated talento dialog plus software. Individual time periods, ranging from one day to season-dependent periods, can be selected using an integrated calendar. Country-specific holidays are already memorized and can be activated in the countries in question. The software contains an ASTRO program, which is tailored specifically to the requirements of location-dependent applications. Entering the longitude or latitude or selecting a city from a list of cities allows you to determine the sunrise and sunset times of the location and thus adapting the switch to the local light conditions.

The programs generated or changed on the PC can be easily transmitted to the annual time switches talento 892/992 plus at any time using the program transmission device talento taxxi plus. The program is transmitted to talento taxxi plus via an interface on the PC and can be transferred later on from the program transmission device to the talento plus time switch via an infrared interface. talento taxxi plus can be used to transmit the program easily to further annual time switches.
