**  INTRODUCTION  **

If  you  would  like  assistance  with  installation,  please  contact  our  preferred  support   provider  at  [email protected],  or  call  281-920-2100  M-F,  9-5pm  CST.    We   recommend  that  you  use  their  services  to  facilitate  your  installation.

EMR  Link  is  not  endorsed  or  supported  by  e-MDs.    Installation  of  the  EMR  Link  Server   Interface  will  add  information  to  your  e-MDs  SQL  Database.    Use  of  EMR  Link  will   write  to  tables  allowing  you  to  enter  patient  notes,  etc.    EMR  Link  has  been  thoroughly   tested  for  over  a  year,  and  has  been  used  in  several  live  clinics.

The  following  instructions  have  been  tested  on  a  variety  of  server  configurations.

However,  there  will  always  be  some  installations  that  need  special  attention.    If  you   have  issues,  please  contact  our  preferred  support  provider.

**  Prerequisites  **

The  EMR  Link  Server  Interface  installation  can  be  performed  on  any  machine   running  IIS  (Internet  Information  Services).    Typically,  this  is  the  same  machine  on   which  e-‐MDs  Portal  and  SureScripts  are  installed.

The  installation  file  can  be  downloaded  from  the  following  web  address.

http://www.mobileemrlink.com/installation

The  following  information  will  be  needed  to  install:

1) SQL  Server  Instance  Name  –  typically  the  name  of  the  machine  running  SQL   2) Database  Name  –  usually  TopsData

3) SQL  User  Name  and  Password  –  Credentials  for  the  SQL  Server  for   accessing  your  database.    The  installation  routine  cannot  use  Windows   Authentication  for  SQL  Server,  as  your  Mobile  Devices  will  not  be  running   Windows.    You  may  use  the  SA  account  username  and  password,  or   equivalent.    Your  database  administrator  may  need  to  create  an  account  if   one  does  not  exist.

4) Windows  User  Name  and  Password  -  These  can  be  any  valid  username  /   password  on  your  network.    This  account  must  be  able  to  log  into  a

computer,  and  run  the  e-‐MDs  software.

The  current  requirements  for  installation  are:

1) Windows  Server  or  later   2) Sql  Server  2005  or  later

3) SQL  Server  Mixed  authentication  (Windows  and  SQL  authentication)

4) Internet  Information  Services  (IIS)  version  5  or  6.    IIS  version  7  is  supported,   with  additional  setup  (see  IIS  7  supplement).

**  BACKUP  **

You  must  backup  your  database  prior  to  installation.

Once  you  have  all  this  information,  and  your  database  is  backed  up,  you  are  ready  to   install  the  EMR  Link  Server  Interface.

**  DEVICE  INSTALLATION  **

The  EMR  Link  client  application  is  available  from  the  Apple  App  Store.      Although  it   is  free  to  download,  you  will  need  a  valid  Apple  iTunes  Account.      On  your  device  (or   in  iTunes)  go  to  the  App  Store  and  search  for  “EMR  Link.”

Once  installed,  run  EMR  Link  and  start  the  setup  process  on  the  device.

You  will  first  be  taken  to  the  Server  Authentication  Screen.

You  will  need  to  enter  your

1) IIS  Server  local  IP  Address  (or  public  if  using  SSL  –  see  Using  SSL  below.)   a. This  is  the  IP  address  that  the  EMR  Link  Server  Interface  is  installed.

2) Windows  username  (no  domain  name)  –  for  Windows  Authentication     3) Windows  password  –  for  Windows  Authentication

4) SSL  –  Indicate  whether  a  SSL  certificate  is  installed  on  the  EMR  Link  Server   Interface

Once  you  hit  save,  the  connection  will  be  verified.    EMR  Link  is  able  to  connect,  you   will  then  be  taken  to  the  main  Login  Screen.    Enter  your

1) e-‐MDs  Quick  ID   2) e-‐MDs  Username   3) e-‐MDs  Password

On  your  first  login,  you  will  be  presented  with  a  evaluation  license  screen.    Press  OK   to  activate  a  temporary  license.

You  will  then  be  in  the  application.    Explore  and  have  fun!    The  Help  buttons  will   provide  help  throughout  the  application.

**  ACCESSING  DATA  FROM  OUTSIDE  YOUR  OFFICE  **

To  access  your  e-‐MDs  data  from  outside  the  office,  you  will  need  to  set  up  either     1)    a  VPN  connection  on  your  iPhone/iPad  or

2)    an  SSL  certificate  on  the  EMR  Link  Server  Interface

1)    VPN

Your  IT  professional  will  need  to  set  up  VPN  on  your  network.    If  you  are  able  to   access  e-‐MDs  from  home,  a  VPN  is  probably  already  set  up.

To  setup  VPN  on  your  iPhone    /  iPad,  run  the  Settings  application.    Click  VPN.    You   will  be  presented  with  the  VPN  screen.      You  will  then  Add  VPN  Configuration  and   enter  settings  for  your  office  network.    Consult  your  IT  professional  for  such   settings.

When  wanting  to  run  EMR  Link  from  outside  the  office,  you  will  need  to  turn  ON   your  VPN  connection  from  this  same  Settings  screen.    An  icon  will  appear  in  the   status  bar  indicating  VPN  is  active.    You  may  now  run  EMR  Link  from  outside  the   office.

      2)  SSL

By  installing  either  a  commercial  or  self-‐signed  SSL  certificate  on  your  IIS  server   running  EMR  Link  Server  Interface,  you  can  use  EMR  Link  from  outside  your  office   without  needing  to  use  VPN.

(8)

As  doing  so  will  open  a  port  up  on  your  firewall,  we  do  not  recommend  installing   EMR  Link  Server  Interface  on  your  SQL  Server,  but  instead  on  another  machine  with   IIS.

Consult  a  qualified  IT  professional  to  assist  with  SSL  setup.    It  is  vitally  important   that  your  IT  specialist  ensures  that  the  certificate  is  setup  and  bound  properly.    The   following  must  be  verified:

1) The  SSL  certificate  is  properly  installed  on  the  IIS  Server.

2) The  certificate  is  bound  to  the  EMRLinkCalls  website.

3) Do  not  bind  the  certificate  to  any  other  websites  on  the  IIS  server.

4) Verify  that  anonymous  access  is  disabled  for  EMRLinkCalls.

5) Forward  port  443  from  your  router  to  the  IIS  server.    Do  NOT  forward  port   80.

Once  completed,  you  may  use  your  public  IP  address  in  the  EMR  Link  App  to  access   your  database.    Turn  the  SSL  switch  to  ON.

**  UPDATES  **

As  updates  to  EMR  Link  become  available,  they  will  be  posted  to  Apple  App  Store  as   well  as  the  EMR  Link  Server  Interface  website.

Updates  to  the  iOS  App  may  be  downloaded  directly  from  the  device.

Some  updates,  however,  will  require  the  latest  EMR  Link  Server  Interface  to  be   installed.

The  iOS  App  will  notify  users  if  the  Server  Interface  needs  updating.    If  so,  this  can   be  easily  done  by  going  to  Start    Program    EMR  Link  Server  Interface    EMR   Link  Server  Interface  Update  on  the  IIS  Server.

Alternatively,  the  latest  installation  file  can  be  downloaded  at   http://www.mobileemrlink.com/installation.
