Thanksgiving for God’s Deliverance

1

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.

2

Let the redeemed of the Lord proclaim that he has redeemed them from the power of the foe

3

and has gathered them from the lands—from the east and the west, from the north and the south.

31

Let them give thanks to the Lord for his faithful love and his

wondrous works for all humanity.

32

Let them exalt him in the

assembly of the people and praise

him in the council of the elders.

SBC Members, we are requesting your prayerful service in helping to choose men to serve as Deacons. Acts Chapter 6:3 commands us: As Brothers and sisters, to select from among you men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and wisdom, whom we can appoint to this duty to wait on tables, and 1 Timothy 3:8-13 (8Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; 9Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. 10And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. 11Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. 12Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 13For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus).

Please seek out men who meet these qualifications and provide names to the office by September 12, 2021. Pastor Waddles and the Deacons Ministry will consult and present the recommendations to the congregation. May God’s Love, Power and Wisdom be with each of us in this endeavor. Blessings from Your Deacons Ministry.

SecTech is seeking a Volunteer skilled in maintaining SBC’s Social Media Accounts including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram working with select members of the SecTech Ministry, including the church’s Secretary and the Pastor. Visit https://www.washtenaw.org/3438/30913/Flood-Resources for several flood resources available to support residents, including the following:

•Washtenaw County residents affected by the severe storms and flooding of June 25-26 may register for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) by calling 800-621-3362 between 7 am and 11 pm ET seven days a week or online at https://www.fema.gov/assistance/individual. County residents have sixty days from incident’s date to submit a claim. Make sure that all claim information is filled out completely with required documentation, as FEMA’s claim appeal process can take up to 90 days.

• Washtenaw County Flood Social Service Resources FAQ (OCED)

• Safety Tips and Instructions for Clean-up for Flood Homes (Washtenaw County Health Department)

• Report drainage issues in your area to mitigate possible flood zones. Providing pictures may help redirect staff to the areas that require immediate attention. Report concerns by calling 734-222-6860, emailing [email protected], or online.

• Steps for Cleaning Mold (Michigan Department of Health and Human Services)

• Relocation Assistance (Michigan Department of Health and Human Services)

• Floodwater After a Disaster or Emergency (CDC and Prevention)

• Reentering Your Flooded Home (CDC and Prevention) When the AARP

Ride@50+ Program was launched in Washtenaw County this past

January, the types of rides provided were limited to essential rides - those associated with

medical, pharmacy and food/nutrition - because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Their top priority is the health and well-being of staff, transportation providers, volunteers, and the community at large.

On July 28th, service was resumed for all trip types. Rides can be booked through the AARP Ride@50+ Program for all trips, including medical appointments, trips to the grocery store or pharmacy, social visits, rides to restaurants or retail, employment or job interviews, etc.

Please note they will continue to require all riders to confirm that they understand and acknowledge the inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in the receipt of transportation services made available through the AARP Ride@50+ Program. The Program also asks that all passengers follow all applicable future and current COVID-19 laws, regulations, safety recommendations, and guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, such as the wearing of a face covering.

As we’ve all learned over the past 18 months, this situation is fluid and we will continue to monitor it and adjust our service and policies accordingly. Thanks very much!
