1. Personal Statement. Answer one of the essay options on the Common Application OR answer any question from another college's application. Be sure to state the question you are answering on the same page as your es-say. If you already wrote a personal statement on the Common Application, you are done with this essay, unless you choose to submit a second personal statement.

2. “Why Reed?” essay. How did you first become interested in Reed, and why do you think Reed would be an appropriate place, both academically and socially, to continue your education? (This essay is instrumental in helping the admission committee determine the match between you and Reed, so please be thorough.)

3. Writing sample. Please submit a copy of a research, expository, or creative paper (in the English language) with instructor’s comments. The paper should be one that you have written recently.

4. If you are not currently attending school, please describe your activities since last enrolled.

5. If there are any special issues or academic concerns that you feel have not been adequately covered in the application, or if you would like to supply further information to the Admission Committee, please elaborate. Essays and graded
