On Ash Wednesday during the afternoon Mass, Father Jai spoke directly to the pews full of PREP students who were listening to his homily. Fr. Jai asked the children if they all knew what GPS does for all of us. A collective nodding could be seen of not only the students’ heads but also the heads of the adults present, too. We could all relate to Fr. Jai when he mimicked the voice of the GPS when you get lost—“make a U-turn” or the dreaded “re-routing” that’s heard when we get too far from our original route.

Fr. Jai was using this narrative to make a connection to Lent. This is a season where, as Catholics, we have the opportunity to use penance, prayer, and charity to get us back on track—to “re-route” us away from sin and to turn again toward God.

How we decide to do our own personal re-routing is up to us. Maybe it’s not as big as a U-turn; it might be more of making a “right” turn when needed. Saying an extra daily prayer, keeping the fast requirements, making your Lenten confession, giving forgiveness, and donating to others in need are all ways that can help to put you in the right direction.

Maybe you’re looking for something extra or a little different from your annual Lenten devotional. St. Ann’s provides so many opportunities this Lent for you to get back on track in a more personal way.

Here are just a few new routes to explore to enrich your spiritual life during Lent. Spend some time finding God’s grace in a new way during these holy 40 days as we prepare for Jesus’ resurrection!

• Tuesday Evening Lenten Bible Study (7:00pm in PLC)

• Stations of the Cross (7:00pm, Fridays) Childrens’ Stations of the Cross (1:15pm, Mondays)

• Helping Hands—donations of food, gift cards, and time

• Parish Penance Service (Sunday, March 22nd, 4:00pm)

• Xavier Company Performance (Sunday, March 29th)

• Ladies Night Book Discussion (Tuesday, March 31st)

You can find more information on these Lenten

activities throughout the bulletin or online at www.churchstann.org.

LOST! Gentleman’s Silver Ring

A man’s silver ring with a blue stone was left on the sink, in the lavatory, in the main lobby, during the 4:30pm Mass, on Saturday, February 22nd.

This ring has great sentimental value to its owner. Should you find this ring, please turn it in to an usher at Mass or to our staff in the rectory. Thank you!

Parish Stewardship Update

We are truly thankful for our families who have committed to St. Ann’s sacrificial giving program. In November, we asked families to prayerfully reflect on the way you financially support our parish. Currently, we received 258 commitment cards, which represents 13% of our parish families who intend on increasing their weekly gifts, and several families have increased their gifts without turning in a formal commitment. We are so grateful to everyone for their sacrifice. Additionally, we would like to thank the 59 new families who, through the commitment card, have signed up to make a weekly offering to our parish.

Thank you for faithfully supporting St. Ann’s church and helping all of us change lives here in Emmaus, in our surrounding communities, and across the globe.

May God bless you during this Lenten Season.
