Mission:

North Duplin Jr./Sr. High School is committed to provide quality and equity in teaching all students. The school's mission is to educate students to high levels of learning and to foster positive attitudes and behaviors, which will enable students to function successfully in society. This mission will be accomplished through effective instructional leadership, high expectations for all students, safe and orderly environment, frequent monitoring of students' progress, and effective home, school, and community relationships.

Vision: Working collaboratively with the community to inspire students to become lifelong learners, prepared for college and

career success. Goals:

NDJS will achieve a school performance of "B" or better and exceed expected growth for the 2020-21 school year by increasing the percentage of students scoring at grade-level proficiency to 66.4 % as recommended by the district. By the end of 2021-22 school year, 100% of students will participate in college and career ready skill sessions as outlined by grade level plans.

By the end of 2021-22, 100% of our teachers will participate in school-wide professional development to create, collect, analyze, and share data.

As of September 2020, our school is having an orientation week to accumulate students to the new policies and procedures in place for the 2020-21 school year. Sixth graders visited our campus in the spring. In the spring, eighth graders

participated in a CTE Awareness Day and had the opportunity to visit every department. Guidance sponsors virtual individualized registration meetings for all students and scores are available for MS and HS teachers and hosts parent meetings virtually.

As of August 2019, our middle school STEM, CTE and band teachers teach one class of NDE sixth graders per semester. Sixth graders come over for a campus tour and we hold a separate orientation for NDJS seventh graders. Guidance sponsors individualized registration meetings for all students and scores are available for MS and HS teachers and hosts parent meetings.

An LEA Support and Improvement Team has been established for the 2020-21 school year as the Reopening Support Team. The team consists of the Superintendent, Chief of Staff for Innovation, Special Advisor for K-5 Curriculum Support and Digital Learning, Special Advisor for Educational Equity and 6-8 Curriculum, Senior Administrator for STEAMA Curriculum and Instruction/PD, Director of Student Management Systems and Testing Support, Assistant Superintendent for Federal Programs, Exceptional Children, Student Support and Athletics, and the Assistant

Superintendent for Accountability/Improvement Systems. The Reopening Support Team provides customized support to schools as they navigate the challenges with COVID-19 and general school improvement support during the school year. The Executive Director of Human Resources also provides personnel support to help ensure continuous school improvement throughout the district.

Professional Learning Community teams work together bi-weekly to analyze data and modify instruction. Through utilization of our new School Improvement Planning system, our SIT team will evaluate and propose changes to improve our school. Other teams composed of community stakeholders also help with school improvement through providing guest speakers, volunteering, fundraising and curriculum content connections to real-world situations. Meeting minutes are

submitted to administration and kept on file for further reference.
