Board

Brendan Bussmann, VP, Strategic Development and Marketing Sunrise Health System

Brendan Bussmann is Vice President of Strategic Development and Marketing for Sunrise Health System. Formerly, he worked as Director of Community Relations for the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada and as Director of Government Relations and Community Development for the Las Vegas Sands Corp.

Brian Brannman, CEO Dignity Health

Bob Cooper, CEcD

Director of Corporate Relations

Bob Cooper works with Landmark Development providing international financing for job

creating businesses in Nevada, New York, Florida and Georgia. He previously served 14 years as Economic Development & Redevelopment Manager for the City of Henderson, Nevada, has over 40 years of professional experience in economic development and received his

national certification in 1982. He has served as the President/CEO of five regional economic

development corporations in various states and speaks frequently at local, state and national economic development conferences.

Brian G. Brannman is senior vice president of operations, Nevada service area, and president

and CEO of St. Rose Dominican-Siena Campus. He has previously served as chief executive officer of University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, commander and CEO of Navy Medicine West, CEO of Naval Medical Center in San Diego, Calif., principal staff officer in

Navy headquarters in Washington, D.C. for health care issues, and executive positions in naval hospitals in Japan, Haiti and the United States..

Renee Coffman, President

Roseman University of Health Science

Dr. Renee Coffman is President and co-founder of the Roseman University of Health Sciences. Roseman, a private not-for-profit Nevada-based university, offers degrees in pharmacy,

nursing, dentistry, business, and orthodontics. The University operates 3 campuses in Henderson, Summerlin and South Jordan, Utah. Dr. Coffman has a pharmacy degree from

Ohio Northern University and a PhD from Purdue University. Dr. Coffman was named a “Distinguished Alumnus” by Ohio Northern University in 2012.

Vance Farrow, Industry Specialist for Health Care Governor’s Office of Economic Development

Vance Farrow is the Industry Specialist for Health Care for the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic

Development. He is responsible for supporting the recruitment, retention and expansion of healthcare professionals and businesses to strengthen the sector’s infrastructure within Nevada.

As a result of his extraordinary dedication and commitment, Mr. Farrow has been appointed by Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval to serve as a Commissioner for the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education, in addition to the Governor’s Task Forces addressing Nevada Broadband and Graduate Medical Education.

Currently Chief Health Officer for the Southern Nevada Health District, Dr. Joe Iser received

his medical degree from the University of Kansas, has a Doctorate in Public Health in health policy from the University of Michigan, and an MSc in infectious diseases from the University of

London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, General Preventive Medicine and Public Health, and Occupational Medicine. He is retired from the US Public Health Service, and was Director and Health Officer in two California and

Dr. Joseph Iser, Chief Health Officer Southern Nevada Health District Dr. Joe Hardy, Senator

Nevada Legislature

Dr. Joe Hardy was elected to the NV State Legislature in 2002 where he currently serves

as Senate Minority Whip. He graduated from UNR, School of Medicine and Washington

University School of Medicine and achieved the rank of Major in the United States Air Force. A board-certified family physician practicing in Henderson he is also Associate Professor and Family Practice at Touro University Nevada Osteopathic School of Medicine.

Dr. Michael Edwards, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Anson, Edwards and Higgins Plastic Surgery Associates

Dr. Michael C. Edwards is currently president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic

Surgery and president of the Clark County Medical Society. He is board-certified in Plastic

Surgery and Surgery and has a private practice of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery focused on all aspects of breast and body surgery.

Dr. Edwards completed a General Surgery Residency and a Plastic Surgery Residency in the United States Air Force where he served as Department of Surgery Chair, Deputy Squadron

Commander, and Chief of Medical Staff, all while practicing full-time. He completed tours

Dr. Komanduri is Chief of Staff at the VA Southern Nevada Health Care System. He previously served as the Unit Chief of the Addictive Disorders Treatment Program. He studied medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine where he completed an Honors thesis in Psychiatry and

served as chief resident in Psychiatry. He is board certified in Psychiatry and completed a transitional internship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He is currently Clinical Associate Professor at the University Of Nevada School Of Medicine.

Sam Kaufman serves as CEO and Managing Director of Desert Springs and Valley hospitals.

His career with the Valley Health System has included medical records, medical staff and assistant administrator. His career began as an assistant head of record processing with the National Institutes of Health.

Sam earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters in Health Services Administration from the University of Saint Francis. He is currently a member of the American College of Health Care Executives.

James Kilber, executive director of Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN), has recruited more than 17 physicians to the practice, created a breast surgery division and

brought three state-of-the-art technologies to CCCN – CyberKnife® Radiosurgery, SmartArc, and PET/CT. These additions have helped elevate the level of oncology care in Nevada. Kilber continues to enhance CCCN’s affiliations with The US Oncology Network and UCLA,

so it can continue to conduct groundbreaking research for patients. Previously, Kilber served

as CEO of Desert Radiologists.

Daline Januik is the EVP/Regional President for Bank of Nevada, a division of Western Alliance Bank managing the Henderson Region. Her banking career started over 38 years ago at a

Savings and Loan in downtown Las Vegas. She has many years of experience in commercial lending, bank operations and relationship management. Currently she manages three

Henderson Region Branches responsible for 28 staff members, managing expenses and growth of the bank while maintaining profitability.

Ann Lynch, President Las Vegas HEALS

Ann Lynch serves as the President of Las Vegas HEALS. Formerly, she was vice president of government relations for Sunrise Health System and is a past president of the Nevada PTA and the Las Vegas Area Council PTA, helping to pass legislation mandating childhood immunizations and the motorcycle helmet law. Lynch has served on the board of The Public Education Foundation, Clark County Family Child Care Association, Ronald McDonald House Steering Committee and the Nevada Commission on Postsecondary Education

Daniel Mathis, CEO & President Nevada Healthcare Association

Daniel Mathis, NFA, was named President and CEO of the Nevada Health Care Association at its annual convention in 2012. Prior to accepting his current position, Mr Mathis was in charge of a small hospital in Las Vegas and served as regional vice president for large

multi-state provider of skilled nursing services. He holds a license as a nursing facility administrator.

Michael Murphy, Chief of Staff

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Nevada

Michael “Mike” Murphy is currently the President and General Manager of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nevada and leads the Health and Welfare fund business unit nationally

within WellPoint. He started his career as a financial consultant dealing in institutional and

private markets at Merrill Lynch.

Mike attended Butler University on a soccer scholarship where he completed an undergraduate

degree with a major in both Finance and Marketing and then went on to earn an MBA in

management from the University of Notre Dame.

Charles Perry, Director, Chair, Legislative Task Force Las Vegas HEALS

Charles served as President/CEO of the Nevada Health Care Association, the Trade Association affiliate of the American Health Care Association representing Post-Acute Care facilities in Nevada. He successfully incorporated the NVHCA Perry Foundation in 2011, a 501 C (3) organization that provides Education and Training Programs for Post-Acute Care

providers in Nevada. Charles served as Administrator for a number of medical institutions throughout his career.

Jonas Peterson, President and Chief Economic Development Officer Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance

Jonas R. Peterson currently serves as President and Chief Economic Development Officer with the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance. Previously he served as President/CEO of the Santa

Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation. Jonas received a M.S. in Community and Economic Development from Pennsylvania State University and a M.B.A. from North Dakota

State University. He is a Certified Economic Developer, graduate of Oklahoma University’s

Economic Development Institute, graduate of Stanford University’s Executive Program and a

Certified Business Retention and Expansion Consultant.

Stacy Scheer, Senior Associate Colliers International

Stacy Scheer specializes in providing real estate solutions for owners and occupants of

healthcare and office properties. She joined Colliers from Cushman & Wakefield | Commerce

Real Estate Solutions also specializing in healthcare properties and was the leasing and asset manager for Sansone Development, Inc. and DSA Development, Inc. Stacy studied Graphic Design at Minnesota State University and is currently completing her Bachelors of Arts in Art History from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Justin Schmiedel, Administrative Director Cleveland Clinic Nevada

Justin Schmiedel is Administrative Director of Cleveland Clinic Nevada. He previously served as the Administrator for the Department of General Surgery, Chair of the Digestive Disease Institute Compliance Committee and Chair of the Group of Aspiring Leaders Professional Development Committee.

Mr. Schmiedel is a current Adjunct Professor for Concordia University in Chicago. He received

his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Union College in NY, his Masters of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Union Graduate College, and completed an Administrative Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.

Todd Sklamberg, CEO

Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center

Todd Sklamberg currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and Sunrise Children’s Hospital. He previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of Sunrise Children’s Hospital and Vice President of Strategic Operations and Facilities

for St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Mr Sklamberg serves as Chairman of the Nevada Hospital

Cheryl Smith, Medical Tourism Sales Manager Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority

Cheryl Smith is the Medical and Wellness Tourism Manager for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. She is responsible for marketing and promoting Las Vegas as a premier health and wellness travel destination. Previously, Smith was the president and managing partner of Banyan Communications Group, LLC. She holds a Masters in Public

Affairs Reporting from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor’s in Mass Communications/Print

Journalism from Western Illinois University. She also chairs the Healthcare Special Interest Group of the Las Vegas Chapter of the American Marketing Association.

Colonel Guillermo Tellez, Commander of the 99th Medical Group Mike O’Callaghan Federal Medical Center

Colonel Guillermo Tellez is the Commander of the 99th Medical Group and the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Medical Center, Nellis Air Force Base. Prior to this assignment, Col Tellez

was the Surgeon, Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency, Lackland Air Force Base; former commander, Craig Joint Theater Hospital, Afghanistan; led the 35th

Medical Group Commander, Japan, 15th Aeromedical-Dental Squadron Commander, Hickam

AFB, Hawaii and was the former Chief, Division of Surgery at Landstuhl Regional Medical

Marcia Turner, Vice chancellor for Health Sciences Nevada System of Higher Education

Marcia L. Turner is Nevada System of Higher Education’s (NSHE) vice chancellor for health sciences. She is responsible for promoting the collaboration and advancement

of approximately 200 health sciences degree and certificate programs for NSHE’s eight institutions. She has been with NSHE Health Sciences System since 2006. Turner received

her B.A. from the University of San Diego, and both an M.A. in communications and Ph.D. in environmental science from UNLV.

Mason Van Houweling is CEO-Chief Executive Officer of University Medical Center of

Southern Nevada. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Health Services Administration from University of Central Florida. Mason’s hospital administration career

Chris Vito, Vice President of Government Relations

Nevada Adult Day Healthcare Centers/Cochelco Corporation

As President of Nevada Adult Day Healthcare Centers, Chris Vito has successfully utilized

his two decades of experience in the health care administration industry to fill a gap in

the Southern Nevada market. He has a master’s degree in health care administration from Southern California’s University of La Verne and came to Nevada with HealthSouth to manage

the design, construction, development and operation of its newest hospital in 2001.

Carolyn Yucha, Dean of the Schools of Nursing & Allied Health Sciences UNLV - School of Nursing

Carolyn Yucha is Dean of the Schools of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has received research funding from the National Institutes of

Health, has published over 60 articles, book chapters, and monographs, and is editor of

Biological Research for Nursing. She serves on the Valley Health System Board of Governors
