_Our carbon frames are designed

for sport and racing. The quality

reflects the enormous confidence

we have in these frames.

full confidence in the bike

BeOne Technology:

Our carbon frames are designed for sportive and racing.

Oversized

s h e ll

_Our carbon frames use only the highest

quality carbon fibre, but even this is not enough for us. The advanced production technology that we use finally results in extreme rigidity, the lowest weight and, above all, superior handling. Once we had achieved this, and agreed that the carbon frames finally satisfied BeOne’s demanding criteria, we allowed them to join the Be One bike range.

These are not just words. A serious professional manufacturing technology has resulted in the best product for you, the demanding racer. Everything that we develop is tested rigorously by world-class riders. Whether its cyclo-cross, MTB, track or on the road, nothing will find its way to you before our pros are satisfied. We want you to have total confidence in our BeOne products.

Twin secTiOn downtube construction

_For our down tubes and front forks, we use

a unique construction method that we have labeled DOuBlE ChAMBER. We have integrated a secondary supporting internal carbon wall throughout the entire carbon downtube to prevent torsion.

The down tube is particularly susceptible to torsion, which results in a loss of energy and forward motion. Each pedal stroke causes immense pressure on the down tube and bottom bracket. With DOuBlE ChAMBER technology you can be assured that this is reduced to a minimum and that your energy is directed towards forward motion.

mOnObOx bracket/chainstay construction and Oversized bottom bracket

_To achieve maximum frame rigidity, an

extremely rigid bottom bracket shell is required to transmit maximum power from the bottom bracket to the chain. BeOne frames have a

Oversized

s h e ll

The MONOBOX construction means that our bottom bracket and the chainstays are one piece and not bonded together as in most other frames. As a result, the lowest possible tolerances are achieved.

Combined with an OVERSIZED BOTTOM BRACKET, we estimate that this, should result in 100% energy input = 100% forward motion.

Twin secTiOn frontfork

_Normally a front fork is not an integral part

of the frameset. Most of the time, a standard fork is sourced and added to the frame. For ultimate handling and a really responsive ride, we believe that the frame and the fork should be developed together as one unit. The front fork is the nerve centre of any bike as it transmits road conditions to the hands of the rider through the handlebars. Our forks have been designed only for our frames and this has resulted in a perfectly balanced unit. As in the case of the down tube, we have used DOuBlE ChAMBER tubing for our front forks. Once again, torsion is eliminated.

Front fork vibration has always been a major problem in fork technology. The rider loses ‘feel’ for the road, there is excessive vibration on fast descents and tight turns are not recommended. Our DOuBlE ChAMBER technology reduces vibration to a minimum. BeOne bikes provide an outstanding controlled ride and out-perform the competition. like we said, we want your energy input to be translated into forward momentum. And our technology gives you that opportunity.

With all this hidden technology, you might think that BeOne frame and forks are going to be heavy. You couldn’t be more wrong. We have achieved all this and have still managed to produce a light frame and forks. Maybe they’re not the lightest, but we can guarantee you a unique balance of strength and light construction. Our aim will never be to produce the lightest on the market but with a weight of 960 gr for the road frame, 1020 gr for the MTB frame and 320 gr for our ‘DOuBlE

Thijs Al, Dutch mountain

biking champion:

‘ Every

turn of

the pedals

counts.’

_

The Dutch mountainbike champion

Thijs Al is a pro who now works for

the BeOne team. A short time ago,

Thijs signed a contract with the

AA Cycling Team, which is sponsored

by AA drink. AA Cycling Team has

been around for years.

_

This winter

the team fielded the top riders

Richard Groenendaal and Thijs Al,

and the rising talent Stef Boden.

(14)

_Thijs Al was a bit fed up. We spoke to him while the Olympic Games in Beijing were in full swing. The pre-vious time, at the Athens Games, he was there but not now because he has shifted the accent of his cycling career. Thijs is now going to concentrate on cyclo-cross and that is not an Olympic discipline.

‘Cyclo-cross is more explosive and that suits me better,’ says Thijs. ‘Sure, I’m the Dutch mountainbike champion but I won’t make the world top.’

This is typical of Thijs Al. he looks friendly and good-natured but underneath is a tough top sportsmen who wants only to win.

_‘The games in Athens were great,’ says Thijs. ‘There

are no words to describe what you experienced there as a sportsman. Take the dining room for the athletes, for example. It was as big as three football fields. Six football fields! It feels good to be part of that sporting elite. Every four years, about ten thousand athletes take part, and about two hundred from the Nether-lands. And you’re one of them! That’s something that’s really fantastic.’

On the other hand, Thijs’ results in Athens were not so fantastic. Thanks to a breakdown, he came in 25th. Or, to put it more positively, as the last of the real top riders. Of course, this makes him one of a small club at the world’s top but that doesn’t count. Winning is everything.

riding the prototype to its limits

_From 1st January, Thijs will be competing in

cyclo-cross in the AA Cycling Team with old hand Richard

_In any event, Thijs has taken the lead in developing

equipment for the AA Cycling Team. BeOne’s top moun-tain-bike model for 2008 was tested in the summer of 2007 by Thijs.

_‘That model has a carbon frame with an unusual

geometry,’ says Thijs enthusiastically. You want a bike like that to react immediately. This bike is extremely manoeuvrable and does exactly what you want. It’s almost as if it thinks with you. I still remember when I rode it for the first time. I phoned the developer from the forest to say how fantastic it was!’

The carbon frame itself is lighter than a bag of sugar. Once set up, the road version weighs in at a little over seven kilos while the mountain-bike version weighs nine kilos. But lightness is not everything: the bike must also be rigid, certainly around the bottom bracket. Otherwise the energy of the rider is lost in the move-ment of the frame.

_‘Certainly in the case of a first test, you try to ride a

prototype like that to its limits: making sharp turns,

turns, fast descents over

rough terrain. I gave it

hell but it performed

perfectly.’
