T h e s e actions include:

1. E s t a b l i s h m e n t of a national p r o g r a m requiring reduction of U.S. g r e e n h o u s e g a s emissions w h i l e p r o t e c t i n g t h e U.S. e c o n o m y .

2 . Creation of a m a j o r national research initiative t o foster rapid d e v e l o p m e n t of sustainable energy technologies thereby s t i m u l a t i n g n e w j o b s and investment.

In addition, t h e t o w n o f H a r t ' s L o c a t i o n e n c o u r a g e s N e w H a m p s h i r e c i t i z e n s to w o r k f o r e m i s s i o n reduction w i t h i n their c o m m u n i t i e s , and w e a s k f o r o u r S e l e c t m e n to c o n s i d e r the a p p o i n t m e n t o f a voluntary energy c o m m i t t e e to r e c o m m e n d local s t e p s to s a v e energy and reduce e m i s s i o n s .

T h e i r h o p e w a s to have positive results like w a s a c h i e v e d w i t h a similar resolution r e g a r d i n g a c i d rain. Paul S c h u r m a n q u e s t i o n e d h o w m a n y t o w n s w e r e v o t i n g o n this issue. A n s w e r s f r o m L e s S c h o o f and N a n c y R. d i d n ' t include e x a c t n u m b e r s but indicated that m o s t t o w n s w e r e participating. G l e n n P o w e l l raised the c o n c e r n s that there is d e b a t e about the global w a r m i n g i s s u e and that the g o v e r n m e n t w o u l d n ' t b e t h e m o s t efficient m o d a l i t y f o r solutions. N a n c y Ritger a n d o t h e r s reiterated that t h e article w a s a v o t e t o g o o n record in support o f raising a w a r e n e s s but that t h e results w e r e n o n - b i n d i n g in a legal sense. M o t i o n passed u n a n i m o u s l y .

D i s c u s s i o n - Mark D i n d o r f e x p l a i n e d t h e increase in Fire/ Rescue: Bartlett S e l e c t m a n a p p r o a c h e d o u r selectmen requesting that w e pay f o r F i r e / R e s c u e calls that they previously c o v e r e d t o H a r t ' s L o c a t i o n . T h e y stated but c o u l d n ' t d o c u m e n t that t h e y ' d c o v e r e d $ 8 5 0 0 . A f t e r a m e e t i n g b e t w e e n t h e t w o t o w n s ' s e l e c t m e n it was d e t e r m i n e d that w e w o u l d g i v e t h e m $ 3 0 0 0 and Bartlett would d o c u m e n t all f u t u r e e x p e n s e s incurred f r o m c a l l s to H a r t ' s Location. P r e v i o u s b u d g e t of $ 1 0 0 0 for e a c h category went largely u n u s e d but will c h a n g e w i t h a g r e e m e n t w i t h Bartlett to share s o m e o f the e x p e n s e . Several c i t i z e n s e x p r e s s e d various concern about c h a r g e s incurred for Bartlett police b e i n g sent o n calls w h i c h are really m u t u a l aid o f C a r r o l l C o u n t y Sheriff. T h e carry-o u t s f r carry-o m injuries sustained in S t a t e P a r k and Naticarry-onal Fcarry-orest ccarry-ould a l s carry-o fall carry-o n carry-o u r bill. T h e r e are privacy issues that can hinder g e t t i n g p a y m e n t o f service f r o m the injured party. S e l e c t m e n will continue to w o r k w i t h Bartlett but the full budget s h o u l d b e e x p e c t e d to b e e x p e n d e d rather than b u i l d i n g a reserve.

Further discussion involved l o w e r legal f e e s d u e t o no forseable matters. S o l i d w a s t e budget increased b e c a u s e d u m p s t e r w a s full m o r e o f t e n a n d required weekly p i c k - u p . N a n c y Ritger q u e s t i o n e d the possibility of revisiting t h e recycling issue. M a r k e x p l a i n e d that inquiries had been m a d e and there w e r e n o small scale s e r v i c e s available but that w e w o u l d c o n t i n u e to look f o r options. Bill K i n g raised t h e issue of t h e d u m p c l o s i n g in B e t h l e h e m and that m a n y t o w n s w e r e already l o o k i n g for other o p t i o n s like G o r h a m and w o n d e r e d h o w this m a y a f f e c t us.

P a u l S c h u r m a n s e c o n d e d . Discussion included the need for larger b u d g e t to c o v e r k e e p i n g t o w n hall b u i l d i n g p l o w e d a n d o p e n f o r t h e event. T h e t o w n hall building n e e d s t o be used s i n c e the Polling Place S t a n d a r d s a r e better a c c o m m o d a t e d there. Motion p a s s e d u n a n i m o u s l y .

T h e n e w t o w n sign w a s noted a s l o o k i n g nice and Marvin Powell w a s t h a n k e d f o r g e t t i n g the j o b d o n e . R e q u e s t s w e r e m a d e f o r a s e c o n d sign to b e put at the t o p of t h e N o t c h . M a r v i n e x p l a i n e d that b e f o r e h e c o u l d o b t a i n permission f r o m D O T that a site request and plan had to b e d e t e r m i n e d so h e asked citizens to look at t h e a r e a and m a k e s u g g e s t i o n s f o r l o c a t i o n s to him.
