Prayer Theme: Encourage Others

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help me to reach out to encourage and support others more often and lead me to the person who could most benefit today from my experience, my sense of humour or my insight: removing any barriers to communication between us. Grant this prayer in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Well done to Leon Lawless from 7 Finch who found out that there needed to be 32 extra girls to make the ratio 5:3. Two thirds of the 48 entries were correct last week.

General Notices

GCSE English Literature exam - Years 10 and 11: Pupils in Years 10 and 11 will be sitting their GCSE English Literature exams at the following times:

Paper 1: Monday, 22nd May - 9.00 a.m. (Ihr, 45 mins) Paper 2: Friday, 26th May - 9.00 a.m. (2hrs, 15mins)

The majority of Year 10 pupils will sit the exams in the Hall with the majority of Year 11 pupils in the Sports Hall. Rooms 6, 22 and the Pastoral Room will also be used. Please be considerate to the candidates and be as quite as possible near these rooms.

Pupils in both year groups are to register promptly. You will be escorted to the exam venues by your tutors. Please save time by switching off your mobile phones, iWatches and any other electrical equipment and putting them in your bags. Please have your writing equipment in your hands or a clear, plastic pencil case. You should all know your candidate numbers and your seating position before Monday, 22nd. Seating plans with candidate numbers are also displayed on the windows of the Drake Building and the main entrance to the Sports Hall.

Year 11 arrangements for pupils when they are not sitting exams: When pupils need to remain in school between morning and afternoon exams, they are to report to the classrooms they would be normally timetabled for where staff will be available to supervise them during revision. Pupils will need to sign in upon arrival at school using the register sheets in the dining room and to sign out when leaving the premises. Pupils attending a specific revision session, should sign in and out as outlined above.

Food at break (Friday, 26th May): Please be aware that no food will be served at break on Friday, 26th May as there is a GCSE English Literature exam taking place in the Hall. Please use the Qube as an alternative venue or bring your own food.

Harry Johnston Cup: Well done to the Year 11 football team who earned a hard-fought draw (2:2) playing St George’s at Bloomfield Road on Wednesday, 17th May. Goals were scored by Kevin McGow and Tom Ousby.

Mr. Grice

We enjoyed a great celebration at our annual school barbeque which was a great success with the added bonus of the weather being kind. Do remember to thank all the staff and pupils who made it possible. Particular thanks to performers who provided the best sets of songs to date.

Our Year 11 pupils marked the end of their time with us with a moving liturgy which celebrated the contribution they have made to Saint Bede's over the past five years. We wish them success and happiness for the months and years ahead.
