Web Metrics for University Communications Platforms

June 2011

Cornell.edu

The Cornell Home Page saw 798,048 views in the month of June (May: 943,638) Total page views for the entire site were 1,936,610 (May: 2,217,287) and there were 458,059 unique visitors (May: 527,628).

The most popular page on the site for June was the Admissions Bridge Page, which saw 98,431 views.

New York City

The Cornell in New York page was redesigned in May and launched on June 3. Due to an error in coding, we do not have complete stats on the page for the month of June. The page saw 2,755 views between June 13 and the end of the month. We will have complete stats from July moving forward.

The CornellNYC blog had 1782 visits in June (May: 2,834), representing 1587 unique visitors (May: 2,475).

Caring Community

The Caring Community page saw a total of 604 views in June (May: 756), 498 of which were unique (May: 575).

CornellCast traffic report - June 2011

19,325 unique viewers tuned in to CornellCast content in June via the CornellCast website and embedded players. The average duration watched per viewer was 31 minutes, 10 secs. The CornellCast website had 33,660 total page views (29,407 uniques). This includes traffic to the default url and links to specific videos on our main and mobile sites.

Highlights:

Website traffic this month was up 55% from 2010.

CornellCast weekly emails generated 4,969 total page views in June (11% of the CornellCast site total). This year's Olin Lecture was the biggest draw, followed closely by Cornelliana Night.

167 videos were added in June, bringing the collection to 1,467 items. The majority were migrated from CyberTower Classic. Migration is now complete!

• CornellCast traffic this quarter up 63% from FY10. • 106,614 total page views this quarter.

• Email sources* generated 14% of traffic to the CornellCast site • Mobile site traffic accounted for 6.5% of our total.

• Top content: Lecture by physicist Nima Arkani-Hamed, 'This Is' by Alex Silver and Jon Tai, Commencement ceremony, Graduation weekend montage. *Please note that email source data is reported using Google campaign tracking. Promotions not using campaign tracking urls were not included.

CyberTower

The CyberTower home page saw 859 page views in the month of June (May: 826), 690 of which were unique (May: 662). The CyberTower server was retired at the end of June, after migrating all content into CornellCast. CyberTower content is now part of CCast and will be counted in terms of CCast views as reported above. It is still available via the familiar cybertower.cornell.edu address.

Events Calendar

The Localist Calendar saw a total of 50,297 views in June, 15,523 of which were unique.

Social Media

The Cornell Facebook Page garnered 3,616 new fans in the month of June (May: 10,891). As of July 11, 2011 the page had 63,345 fans

May 31, 2011: 59,253). Impressions for the month of June were skewed by reactions to the winners of a Photo contest that was run and are not relevant to reporting.

There were 560 new Twitter followers in the month of June (May: 668), for a total of 8,828 followers as of July 6, 2011.

The alumni.cornell.edu site saw 40,420 visits in June (May: 32,150), representing 26,800 unique visitors (May: 22,810). The Alumni Home Page saw 18,272 page views (May: 16,099), 14,201 of which were unique (May: 12,429).

Reunion traffic was heavy in June. The social media mashup page saw 2,892 views, while the Reunion home page had 14,484 (10,792 unique).

The Chronicle Online saw 329,950 page views in June (May: 382,781), representing a total of 185,783 unique visitors (May: 207,411). The Chronicle Homepage saw 17,660 views in June (May: 22,640).
